Bambino bundle

Abstract

The Bambino Bundle is a new design for the traditional receiving blanket. The design offers more security, comfort, aesthetic elaboration, and level of warmth. The all cotton blanket has two square flaps sown onto the back, which provide a more secure wrap for the infant when tied. The insertion of a removable foam padding offers additional comfort and warmth. The blanket is also adorned with two rows of cotton ruffles that add a more decorative appeal aimed only to appease the eye.

Description

We, Katarina Janish and Natasha Sykes have invented a new design for a receiving blanket, as set forth in the following specification. The receiving blanket is used for wrapping a newborn baby.

Claims

1. A blanket, similar to a standard receiving blanket, and is in fact used in the same manner. It includes one square shaped frame with six individual straps, which are preferably made of cotton, wherein a removable cotton padding can be inserted. The padding is thin, flexible, and washable. It is used primarily for infants born in the winter where additional protection from the elements of the outdoors is needed. The individual straps are used to secure the infant in the blanket while being handled by hand, in a stroller, or sleeping in a crib. The straps should not be so secured where as two average sized adult fingers; the two nearest to the opposable thumb, are not able to slide beneath easily. The upper portion of the blanket is embellished with cotton ruffles and are placed directly above the position of where the baby's head lies.

2. A blanket according to claim 1 characterized therein that the ruffles (FIG. 1) are represented in two rows. Ruffles vary in size and color to suit personal desire. The top row is sewn into two squares of cotton fabric which all corners can be angled to ninety degrees or in half circles as shown in FIG. 1. The second row of ruffles is separated from the top row by one and half inches. The second row of ruffles is secured only to a top single portion of the cotton fabric. To sew the second row of fabric into both squares of cotton fabric would prevent the insertion of the padding. The second row extends only eleven inches form the top corner directly below the top row of ruffles.

3. A blanket according to claim 1, characterized therein that there is an opening operable by three buttons positioned on the inside portion (FIG. 1) of the blanket itself. The opening is four inches from the right edge of the blanket. The actual opening for the insertion of the padding is seventeen inches wide. Buttons are equally distributed along the seventeen-inch opening.

4. A blanket according to claim 1, characterized therein that there are six individual straps; three on both the left and right sides as shown in FIG. 2. The straps are sewn at the base of a rectangular piece of cotton fabric that is attached to only a single backing of the cotton square. The straps are lodged in three separate tunnels created by two pieces of rectangular cotton fabric. Because the straps are only sewn at the base of the rectangular attachments, it allows the rectangle to be pushed up or down on the straps accommodating the size of the baby, as shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 8. The rectangles are attached fourteen inches inward from both left and right corners. The rectangles are fifteen inches long and nine inches wide. Additional embellishments are sewn to the rectangles for esthetic purposes only. The straps are made of one hundred percent cotton to ensure that when closed they will not come apart easily. Straps are generally one to two inches wide and twenty-three inches long.
