An appliance for making adjustment for good limb positions, including: a base seat which is adjustable in height at one end thereof in the up-down directions, a neck part adjustment part which is attached to the base seat so as to be adjustable in height and which is adjustable in angles for a tip end which is opposite from the end that is attached to the base seat in the top and bottom directions, and a pair of adjustment parts for a dorsal surface of a scapula which have a triangle vertical cross section and can turn in all directions and in a horizontal direction from the base seat.

This is a continuation-in-part application of PCT/JP03/01395 of Feb. 10, 2003.
TECHNICAL FIELDThe present invention is related to an appliance for adjusting upper limbs. It is the appliance to prevent pain and congestion caused by the swelling by plaster cast adjusting an arm when the person injures the arm and operating on the arm. And it is the appliance to keep the rest of upper limbs of the patient, and to determine the best limb position personally (the desirable position of the limbs) by using this appliance. And this appliance can offers the desirable position for them at the supine position for patients by using simple appliance. And this appliance relates to which prevent and cure the pain that one feels in the upper limb, the back, and the neck when lying on one's back.
BACKGROUND ARTThe upper limb is always congested with blood by the pain and the swelling when we have plaster cast after operating or injuring. Generally, the blood, which was pumped out of the heart, is sent to the peripheral vessels of the fingertips from the arteries. However, as for this blood, it sends back the blood of the peripheral vessels to the heart by the movement of the muscle, which moves a hand, the fingers, the upper limb, and the valve structure of the vein.
However, the movement of the muscle whose function to return by sending the blood of the peripheral vessels to the heart by the pain and the swelling caused by a trauma, and the adjustment of the upper limb by plaster cast for the bone fracture or the operation. Therefore, the hand swells and the congestion becomes conspicuous. This kind of the pain and the swelling happen in all the cases of above-mentioned trauma and being infected, the inflammation, the metabolism disease and the neural disease and so on. This swelling is gradually over with the movement of the muscle and the valve of the vein when the pain is gone and begins to be able to do the movement of the hand and the finger, the upper limb.

However, the patient complains of umbrage at shoulder disease and so on because he is forced to be in the difficult posture for a long time.
A support tool for stretching the shoulder joint is proposed by the Japanese patent No. 2858105. However, it's not possible to use for the upper limb with plaster cast because it has a purpose of moving the upper limb. And, the best maintenance angle of the upper limb depends on the degree of its disorder, but it doesn't correspond to such an angle preparation. Also, the above-mentioned invention is not be able to assemble easily, so it's difficult to carry, and can't be brought to the house or in the outside.
This invention was invented in view of this conventional problem. We will explain how the good limb position is adjusted with what kind of principle. In the case of the normal person the angle between the supine and the dorsal surface of scapula gradually becomes big as rising the upper limb from 30 degrees, and reaches its maximum at 90 degrees as shown in
The reason why it does is that the front of the shoulder joint and the back are under stress at the supine position, and its angle becomes small from 120 degrees to 150 degrees, and finally reaches its minimum at 150 degrees.

An upper limb position that the axis of the upper arm bone and spina scapulae are on the line is called zero position as rising arm position (Concretely, from a bending 90 degree to about extension 135 degree), and it is the most natural and comfortable position for the shoulder joint. During keeping this position, the running by the linear group around the shoulder joint becomes straight approximately. The rotary motion of humeral becomes little, and it's very stable.
So it is useful after the operation for tear of cuff of the shoulder, humeral proximal fracture, scapular fracture, partial reduction or adjustment after clavicle fracture, inflammation around the shoulder joint, shoulder joint contracture and so on. Bending at about 90 to 120 degrees becomes a desirable position for the elbow joint. This invention provides an appliance to be able to adjust the five points (neck department, shoulder blade surface, shoulder joint, elbow joints, waist) the good limb position. Therefore, the first purpose of this invention is the offer of good limb place point adjustment ingredient, which made the adjustment of each point to decide the individual most suitable good limb place in the position on lying back.
The second purpose of this invention is to provide the good limb position support ingredient based on data of each person decided by the above adjustment.
The third purpose of this invention is to provide the treatment by the good limb position-adjusting appliance based on data of each person decided by the above adjustment.

Specially the forth purpose of this invention is to provide the adjustment which can be resolved, and a support condition of this appliance can be changed by the condition of patient. Furthermore, this invention is supporting, not fixing or holding some point by the shape which set up a stopper in the direction which the bottom or deformation was easy to put on under the non-restraint condition. This invention has no unpleasantness of a patient like in a usual holding device, and this point is the fifth purpose of this invention.

The materials for the present invention are considered how fit to the body and easy to carry. So it is desirable to be soft and easy to keep its shape, i.e. the net, the rubber, the leather, a new material, plastic, iron and aluminum. It is also possible to make the structure, which can be divided into 4-5 parts to carry easily.
If the upper limb support is made by net, the thick limb with plaster cast is put it on easily. Also, the net is convenient to carry because it is light and is not bulky.
Also, as for the unified type made of cushion-rubber, it is convenient while sleeping as adjusting portion of the shoulder joint, elbow joint, forearm are stable for supporting limbs by being unified.
This type hold a shoulder joint in good limb, all a shoulder blade and the back part, the back sides of the upper half of the body of neck department are being supported in good limb place. The weight of the upper half of the body is distributed to the back part equally; a floor deviation can be prevented. For the reason that it relaxes the peripheral nerve from neck pasania with the upper limb lifted in the upper than shoulder specially, this type is effective for the patient who has pain from the neck to the hand caused by the cevical spondylosis.
Moreover, the reclining seat which can be manually or electrically operated to keep the desirable position for the upper limbs. For example, this invention can be applied to the driver's seat, the chairs for indoors, namely, the arm part as the attachment can be added to the normal chairs, and if necessary, the arm can be moved electrically to keep the desirable position for the upper limbs.
As the variations of this invention, the function of rubdown and warming or cooling can be put to any type. Moreover, it is possible for each part to resolve it. And any type has the function to adjust the size for each person, and the function to adjust the angle according to the symptom.
Incidentally, this invention provides the appliance to keep the desirable five positions mentioned above. However, as it provides a desirable upper limbs position to each patient, it can make a various adjustment to each. Therefore it should not always keep the desirable position for all of the facies dorsalis scapulae, the shoulder joints, the elbow joints and so on.

And, it is possible to use a base seat for only even the adjustment of the surface of shoulder blade and neck part adjustment, also this both arm adjustment parts (A) can be made to be attached to the base seat. So, good limb position adjustment of 5 point becomes possible by installing this both arm adjustment parts (A).

It was used for the patient who was aware of radiating pain, authority, with many patients of cervical spondylosis nerve root in the upper limbs by using this adjustment ingredient. It was moved to the zero position said as a rest place of the shoulder in the standard position of each department place. And slight adjustment was done to all the patients respectively. The angle of the shoulder blade supports an elbow joint at 15 degrees at about 115 degrees. It could sleep well as that result, the patient in radiating pain who are sleeping difficulty was the same posture as no less than six hours from two hours. When this device is used, a patient aren't stuck not at all.
Furthermore, the support angle of the shoulder blade was made about 35 degrees from a bending 90 degrees at 120 degrees, and support was done toward the patient after it operated on the hand finger and the upper limbs and the shoulder joint. The swelling of the hand finger and the former arm and a sharp pain admitted famous improvement in comparison with the condition that a hand was taken down as that result.
A symptom is eased if the case of cervical spondylosis neurosis is moved to the close position to the zero position. Effect was shown soon after the use, too. Improvement was presumed a symptom in a use rear short time because it was possible for the patient after the operation as well that the blood way of the hand finger was sent back to the heart due to the gravity. It was used toward the patient whose stiff shoulders were very strong. Effect was shown in the case of stiff shoulders after arranging to this position because there are a few muscular blood ways of the shoulder and bad position of shoulder joint.

Then, the weight of the whole appliance can be made very light and moreover the resolution is possible. Incidentally, it is possible to control the pipe height with use stretch free.

There was an old patient who was compelled to attach plaster cast and Grace equipment for 3 months as he had the symptom of nonunion after the complicated fracture of the arm. He felt a dolor nocturnal because his hand and fingers were intumesced by the congretion. Also he felt a shoulder arthralgia because he was forced to be the same posture for a long time. After using the present invention for one week to him, the congretion left and the remarkable intumescences and dolor of the fingertip also left. The symptom could be improved only in using this equipment of the present invention.

We can keep the shoulder at zero-position without fastening the body to the bed using such an appliance. Then, it needs only to put this appliance between the upper half of the body and the bed when the patient lying supine, and to put the upper limbs, the upper half of the body and the head on each lying portion. So it is convenient that anyone can keep the patient in the same position easily.
Moreover, in case of need, only partial divided appliance can be also used. Also, when using the appliance of this invention, it is effective to the neck. For example, it is possible to make relax the neuroplexus of the cervical vertebrae in raising the upper limb if a peripheral nerve in the cervical vertebra is oppressed in some cause.
There is an arm neuroplexus among the musculus, the fat which are from the smaller pectoral muscle to the shoulder (the armpit), in such a case, if rising both arms, it some degrees brings the symptom of neurosis caused by oppressing it. As a result, the disease (a kind of thoracic outlet syndrome) with numbness on the arm starts, however, there is possibility to improve such a symptom if using present invention.
After using this appliance experimentally to some patient, it was very effective. It was difficult to stretch the nerve because of constriction for the intervertebral foramen as he started herniated cervical disk by cervical spondylosis. Then, he strongly complained of the sleeplessness and the pain of the upper limb more than 90 degree at night. So such a nerve could be relaxed in raising arms by using this appliance, and the nervous pain reduced. Then he could sleep soundly, in spite of the first time use.
Embodiment 4 In this embodiment, the equipment, which is possible to apply to the bow-backed, will be described by reference to
Corprus vertebrae of the normal person are rectangle seeing from the side, however one of the bow-backed is transformed because of compression fracture or congenital disease and so on. So the bow-backed can not sleep at supine position. It can't sleep, and the upper limbs can't be raised in more than 90 degrees.
However, even the bow-backed can use this appliance because it takes the position of the shoulder higher than the bed (ground) surface, same as one in the 1st and 2nd embodiment. As shown in

In order to block each part in this way, the full length of the arm doesn't have to be supported with the appliance such as shown in the 1st and 2nd. Even if the point needed to adjust by all means, is possible to adjust, the desirable position for the upper limb can be kept. This appliance is very convenient for using because it is light, easy to carry, and easy to handle.

Incidentally, each block can be resolved into 2-3 parts. By such structure, it is possible to apply with any person regardless of one's height. So it can be applied with even a child by adjusting the number of its parts. Moreover, as for the way to adjust its size, the following types of functions and so on are available. For example, it is a type, which connects each block and a ring using some universal joints, or it is the type, which makes ring itself that it is possible to expand and contract by such a fractal structure. Moreover, it may install an addition part between one block and the other one if it is needed.
Incidentally, head lying portion (21) can be installed with the option and the position of the back and the neck can be minutely adjusted. Also, when we need larger angle to the bed, we can adjust the angle or the height by inserting the reinforcement parts under each part. In this embodiment, as we can adjust only the point which we need by this appliance, it can be used easily comparing with the other large-scaled equipment.
Embodiment 5In this embodiment, the appliance of the present invention, which is electric or manual operation, is installed in the reclining seat.
Generally, if the appliance is prepared for the driver's seat, it is extremely effective for the long-range driver to recover from his fatigue.

As for the electric-type one, half part (13a-13c) on the seat back is electrically divided. Changing the seat to the appliance, forearm block (13a)(13b) stretch above while they slightly turns inside, and the head support (13c) is able to fit the height suited to a user.
It can be applied to the chair at home in addition to the driver's seat. Moreover, it can be applied to the chairs at the waiting rooms or the chairs for medical examination in the hospital. Also, it can be installed to the reclining bed in addition to the chairs.
Although the present invention has been fully described in connection with the preferred embodiments thereof with reference to the accompanying drawings, it is to be noted that various changes and modifications are apparent to those skilled in the art. Such changes and modifications are to be understood as included within the scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims unless they depart therefrom.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITYAs described above, according to the invention, if we have operated or injured or been infected on our hands and fingers, we can be cured at supine position by using the invention. The forearm, the elbow and the upper limb are the same. Also, followings can be prevented and cured at the supine position. A dolor, a joint contracture because of an inflammation of the shoulder joint, (a omalgia, a peritendinitis calcarea and so on) will be done. A peripheral nervous neuropathy caused by such as the herniated cervical disk, and exhaled pain, which comes from cervical part to the upper limbs, will be done. A symptom, which the old people cannot lie supine on the bed caused by a multiple stress fracture, such as bow-backed will be done. A congestion caused by the peripheral nervous neuropathy caused by a metabolic disease (diabetes mellitus and so on) will be done. A disease inducted by the decline of bloodstream caused by the brain ischemic infarction will be done. The appliance of the present invention will do the damages of the shoulders, the hands and the elbows, which are too much used by the sports. By using that device which the patient's most suitable good limb place can be decided as and which is decided.
In case of experimental use, it has been already effective in the most of the diseases mentioned above. In case of using the invention to the patient who has radiating pain, and can not sleep caused by a dolor nocturnal, such a pain has left immediately after using the present invention, and an intumescences has been obviously improved.
At present, there is not a tool after operation of the above disease at all. Therefore, the symptom can be improved if only a lot of people lie down in the looking up by this invention and they can lead in the better daily life.
Claims
1. A good limb position point adjustment appliance which supports upper limbs in an upper position higher than shoulders of a patient to allow said patient to sleep or to keep said upper position in a good limb position, wherein said good limb position point adjustment appliance is comprised of:
- an adjustment means for adjusting a point of a neck part, shoulder joint, shoulder blade surface, elbow joint, and waist of said patient to a good limb position,
- a base seat which is adjustable in height at one end thereof in an up-down directions,
- a neck part adjustment part which is attached to the base seat so as to be adjustable in height, and which is adjustable in angles for a tip end which is opposite from an end that is attached to the base seat in a direction of top and bottom, and
- a pair of adjustment parts for a dorsal surface of a scapula which have a triangle shape in vertical cross section and is turnable in all directions and in a horizontal direction from said base seat.
2. The good limb position point adjustment appliance according to claim 1 further comprising:
- both arm adjustment parts which can be installed in and removed from said base seat; and wherein
- a shoulder joint adjustment part of a left-right pair and an elbow joint adjustment part are attached to a shaft in the same plane in said both arm adjustment parts so as to slide on said shaft and rotate in parallel to said shaft, so that said point of the neck part, shoulder joint, shoulder blade surface, elbow joint, and waist is adjusted to a good limb position.
3. The good limb position point adjustment appliance according to claim 1 or 2 wherein
- said both arm adjustment parts are provided so that a movement thereof in vertical and inside directions can be regulated, and
- a dorsal surface of scapula adjustment part is provided so that a movement thereof in vertical and outside directions can be regulated.
4. A point in good limb position adjusting appliance for a plaster cast comprising:
- an upper limb support portion with a back support portion which supports a patient lying thereon, a circumference divided pipe frame which is wide enough, and a net attached to said pipe frame, an elbow angle being set to be 90 to 180 degrees for the net, so that an arm with a plaster cast on? may be put on said net, and
- a support pole to adjust a height of a tip part of said upper limb support portion from a floor; and wherein
- said net with the pipe, said back support part, and said support pole can be separated from each other, and right and left portions of said net that has the pipe can be folded.
5. A good limb supporting appliance made of a cushion material and is comprised of components that are separable from each other, said components including:
- a head support part,
- an elbow joint support part in which an elbow of a patient can be supported thereon at an angle of 90 to 180 degrees,
- an upper limb support part provided so that a tip part thereof is set up at a height of 15 cm to 30 cm from a ground, and
- a waist support part.
6. An appliance which supports upper limbs in an upper position higher than shoulders of a patient to allow said patient to sleep or to keep said upper position in a good limb position, wherein said appliance is comprised of an upper limb back support assistant means wherein:
- said upper limb back support assistant means has a shape that fills up a space between a level surface from a waist to a back of said patient when the patient having tortoise back lies on the back, and a part of said upper limb back support assistant means that corresponds to waist of said patient is formed thinner than a part of said upper limb back support assistant means that corresponds to a shoulder of said patient with said parts of said upper limb back support assistant means being connected by a convex surface.
7. A good limb position adjusting appliance comprising:
- a forearm adjustment part,
- an elbow joint adjustment part,
- a shoulder joint adjustment part,
- a shoulder blade adjustment part, and
- a head adjustment part; and wherein
- all of said parts are possible to be joined and are changeable in size except for right and left forearm adjustment parts, and
- a stopper is provided in an inner side so that a forearm is prevented from entering into the inside at a time of lying on the back and upper limb.
