Billiard table sideboard

A billiard table sideboard includes a fixing wall at the outer circumference of a frame under a billiard table, and a sideboard positioned at the outer side of the fixing wall. The fixing wall has its lower edge flush with that of the frame, and the height of the sideboard is longer than that of the fixing wall, so the sideboard extends down below the fixing wall. The sideboard is secured with the fixing wall contacting each other by thumb screws. Thus the sideboard can be separated from the fixing wall so as to save the cost for the size in packaging and transporting.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a billiard table sideboard, particularly to one having a fixing wall fixed around a frame under the billiard table and having its bottom edge flush with that of the table frame, and a sideboard positioned at the outer side of he fixing wall and having a higher height than the fixing wall and combined with the fixing wall by tightening means such as thumb screws. Then the sideboard can be separated from the fixing wall to save the size and cost for package and transportation in case of need. In using, the sideboard is combined with the fixing wall tightly by the thumbscrews.

2. Description of the Prior Art

A conventional billiard table shown in FIG. 1 includes a table 10, and plural feet 16 to be separately packaged for transportation to save its size and cost for package and transportation.

The table 10 consists of an invisible frame (hidden and not shown) made up of lateral and longitudinal boards crossing with each other, a table board 11, four side fences 12 and four sideboards 15. The four side fences 12 are fixed on the four outer sides of the table board 11, defining a hollow space on the table board 11 to prevent billiard balls from falling off the table board 11. Further, a pocket hole 13 is formed respectively at the four corners of the table 10 and an intermediate section of each of two longitudinal sides of the fences 12.

The four sideboards 15 are positioned at the outer sides of the combining locations of the frame, the table board 11, and the fences 12 to hide the combining locations to present a flat holistic appearance.

As for the sideboards 15, they have a function of sealing the four sides of the billiard table, with their lower edges surpassing the lower edges of the frame. As the sideboards 15 are fixed firmly with the table 10, the surpassing portions of the sideboards 15 may augment the cost for package and transportation, in spite of separate packaging of the table 10 and the feet 16. Furthermore, the length of the surpassing portions of the sideboards 15 may be different, depending on the demand of buyers. If it is small, the size and cost for package and transportation may not so large, but if large, the size and cost for package and transportation may be larger. So the billiard table sideboards should be improved.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This invention has been devised to offer a billiard table sideboard for benefit of assembling and disassembling for saving its size and cost for package and transportation.

The feature of the invention is a fixing wall fixed around the circumference of a frame of the billiard table and having its lower edge flush with that of the frame, and a sideboard positioned at the outer side of the fixing wall and fixed tightly together with the fixing wall by thumb screws passing through holes in the fixing wall and then engages with female-threaded holes of the sideboard. Thus the higher sideboard than the fixing wall can be separated from the fixing wall in case of packaging and transporting to save the size of the billiard table and the cost for package and transportation.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional billiard table;

FIG. 2 is a partial exploded perspective view of a billiard table in the present invention;

FIG. 3 is a partial exploded perspective view of a billiard table sideboard in the present invention; and,

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a part of the billiard table sideboard in the present invention.

DETAILED DESCIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A preferred embodiment of a billiard table sideboard in the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2, is combined with a table 20, plural feet 30 under the table 20.

The table 20 consists of a frame 21 shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 and having lateral and longitudinal upright boards crossing each other to support the table 20, a table board 22 positioned on the frame 21 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, fences 23 fixed on the outer circumference of the table board 22 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, and sideboards 24 according to the present invention fixed at the combining locations of the frame 21, the table board 22 and the fences 23 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4.

The main improvement in the invention is plural fixing walls 25 fixed upright at the outer circumference of the frame 21 and having its lower edge flush with that of the lower edge of the frame 21, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, having holes 250 in preset locations. Further, the sideboards 24 respectively has female-threaded holes 240 corresponding to the holes 250 of the fixing walls 25 for thumb screws 26 with a washer 260 to engage with after passing through the holes 250 so as to secure stably the sideboards 24 with the fixing walls 24 at its outer sides and at the same time sealing the combining locations of the table board 22, the fences 23 and the frame 21 to hide the combining locations invisible, as shown in FIG. 4.

In packaging, the thumbscrews 26 are screwed off, separating the sideboards from the fixing walls 2, with the sideboards 24 placed flat on the table board 22. Thus the size of the table can be reduced to a large extend to save the cost for package and transportation not a little.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
