DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In order that those skilled in the art can further understand the present invention, a description will be described in the following in details. However, these descriptions and the appended drawings are only used to cause those skilled in the art to understand the objects, features, and characteristics of the present invention, but not to be used to confine the scope and spirit of the present invention defined in the appended claims.

With reference to FIGS. 1 to 4, the portable basketball stand of the present invention is illustrated. The portable basketball stand includes the following elements.

A box body 10 has a holding portion 17 extending from a lower side of the box body 10 and two locking portions 18 at two sides of the holding portion 17. The box body 10 is formed by an upper cover 11, a lower cover 12 and a pivotal shaft 13 connecting the upper cover 11 and the lower cover 12. One side of the box body 10 is used as a backboard 101. The inner space formed by the upper cover 11 and the lower cover 12 is as a receiving space 14 for receiving other elements of the portable basketball stand. The receiving space 14 in the upper cover 11 has a retaining ring 15. The retaining ring 15 has a positioning hole 151. Each of the lower side of the upper cover 11 and the upper and lower sides of the lower cover 12 has a respective penetrating hole 16.

A basket 20 is illustrated in FIG. 4A. One end of the basket 20 has a retaining portion 21. The basket 20 is locked to the screw holes 102 on the backboard 101 by using a locking device 22 to fix the retaining portion 21 to the backboard 101, wherein a plurality of screws passes through the locking device 22 to the screw holes 102 in the backboard 101.

A supporting rod 30 passes through all the penetrating holes 16 and the retaining ring 15, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. The supporting rod 30 is formed by a plurality of sub-rods 31 and one front rod 32. A front end of each sub-rod 31 has a connection section 311 which has a smaller diameter than the other portion of the sub-rod 31. An outer side of each connection section 311 has a nose portion 312. An inner side of each sub-rod 31 has a positioning hole 313 which is coupled to the nose portion 312 of the connection section 311. A distal end of the front rod 32 has a resisting section 321 which has a diameter larger than other portion of the front end 32. In assembly, the sub-rods 31 are connected one by one by inserting the respective connection sections 311 into the inner sides of the respective sub-rod 31. A sub-rod 31 at the outmost end is connected to the front end 32 so as to assemble as a supporting rod 30.

A seat 40 has an inserting hole 41 at a center portion for receiving the supporting rod 30, as shown in FIGS. 5A and 5B. A periphery of the seat 40 has a plurality of buttons 42. By rotating the buttons 42, the supporting rod 30 will be tightened for preventing the supporting rod 30 from rotation. A plurality of supporting posts 43 are installed to the seat 40. The supporting posts 43 are expandable so as to make the portable basketball stand stably stands on the ground. The supporting posts 43 are foldable as illustrated in FIG. 5B so as to reduce the volume of the portable basketball stand to be stored in the box body 10.

The assembly of the present invention will be described herein. Firstly, the box body 10 is expanded as illustrated in FIG. 2. Then the retaining portion 21 of the basket 20 is locked to the backboard 101 by using the locking device 22, as shown in FIG. 4A. Then the supporting posts 43 of the seat 40 are expanded on the ground and the distal end of the supporting rod 30 is inserted into the inserting hole 41 of the seat 40 and the buttons 42 are rotated so that the supporting rod 30 is tightly combined to the seat 40, as shown in FIG. 5A. Then the front end of the supporting rod 30 is inserted into the positioning holes 16 of the upper cover 11 and lower cover 12 and the retaining ring 15 of the upper cover 11. A button passes through the positioning hole 151 of the retaining ring 15 so as to fix the supporting rod 30. The front rod 32 at the front end of the supporting rod 30 has the resisting section 321 with a larger diameter for adjusting the height of the backboard 101. The assembly of the backboard 101 with the supporting rod 30 is illustrated in FIG. 6. The assembly view of the present invention is illustrated in FIG. 1. In use of the present invention, the base including the seat 40 and the supporting posts 43 can be pressed by heavy weights 40, such as at least one sandbag 50 in FIG. 7 or at least one water bag in FIG. 8, so as to stablize the basketball stand.

Referring to FIG. 9, in detachment of the present invention, the containing objects in the sandbags 50 or the water bag 51 can be removed. Then all the components are detached and then are received within the receiving space of the box body 10. Then the upper cover 11 and lower cover 12 are closed and then are locked by locking the locking portions 18.

In above example, the numbers of the sandbags 50 and water bags 51 are not confined by those illustrated in the drawings.

Moreover, in the present invention, the above-mentioned structure is not used to limit the scope of the present invention. For example, as shown in FIG. 4B, the retaining portion 21 of the basket 20 and the locking device 22 can be combined as a retaining device 23 so that the installation of the present invention can be simplified. Moreover, the supporting rod 30 can be embodied by a telescopic rod. All these are within the scope and spirit of the present invention.

The present invention is thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the present invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
