Rolled tools carrying device

The present invention has been designed to specifically accommodate the spare barrel assembly kit of a small caliber dearmer, as used by military and other personnel concerned with either personal or group safety when encountering various explosives. This invention allows these personnel to carry the required equipment either independently or attached to other carrying gear. This invention provides protection in a lightweight device, and allows quick and easy access in important emergency situations as well as for ordinary maintenance activities. While the present invention, and alternative embodiments, have been conceived and developed specifically for the spare barrel assembly kit of a small caliber dearmer, it is conceivable that this invention will also be useful for other small equipment or small objects usage.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

When military personnel confront objects that are of unknown volatility, such as small bombs, they prefer to use a small caliber dearmer (‘de-armer’). These dearmers might initially be carried in a land vehicle such as a truck or in an air vehicle such as a helicopter, or by some other means, and then they will most likely be carried by personnel for varying distances. The dearmer traditionally is carried in a metal container as a means of protection, as the dearmer has spare barrels which must be kept without deviations and ready for accurate assembly. This metal case, while more protective than a cardboard box would be, is heavy and unwieldy, and particularly cumbersome while the personnel are encumbered with other necessary gear. Also, in the current world situation, many times dearmers are necessary in desert areas. While there currently are soft bags and backpacks and pouches of many descriptions, there are no known carrying devoices that are lightweight, protective, and useful in the manner of the present invention.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is a carrying device designed to hold tools or other objects of varying sizes, specifically spare barrels and other small tools of the small caliber dearmer assembly kit, and comprising multiple pockets; it is made of a soft cloth material which is lined with a soft foam, and the device is flat when opened, and rolled when closed. The sides are secured with hook and loop, and with quick-release buckles and web. The ends are secured with soft cloth material pieces and elastic and they comprise soft hoods, further secured with quick-release buckles and web.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The interior of the present rolled tools carrying device is comprised of soft cloth material and has seven compartments 1 of varying sizes specifically intended to precisely fit various sizes of barrels of a small barrel assembly kit. These compartments are closed each at one end while remaining open 2 at the opposing end. An additional compartment 3 inside the present invention opens and closes with zipper 4, this compartment accommodates a small equipment metal case. Also inside the present rolled tools carrying device is hook and loop 7a. The device has not-exposed lightweight foam sandwiched between the inside cloth material 15 and the outside cloth material 16; this ‘sandwich’ is bound by rewind edge binding material 8.

After the elements of the kit are placed or replaced in their compartments, the rolled tools carrying device is rolled and the roll is secured on the outside 16. The security of the rolled shape of the present invention is achieved in two ways: 1) The hook and loop 7a of the interior meets with hook and loop 7b which is on the outside 2) The webbed quick-release buckle system 6a consisting of webbing and buckle at the periphery of the device meets with the webbed quick-release buckle system 6b of the exterior near the middle of the device.

Further protection and security of the dearmer kit elements is achieved by the hood 9, 14 at each end of the device as rolled. This hood 9, 14 acts as a protection from slippage of the elements, and it also serves as protection from dust, water, insects, and other intrusions. The present invention has elastic binding 13 at the hood 9, 14 opening 10, and a webbed quick-release buckle system 5a at 13 that meets with the webbed quick-release buckle system 5b on the exterior 16 of this device.

As a convenience for personnel who are carrying gear in addition to this rolled tolols carrying device, the present invention has a web material loop 11 on the exterior 16 and is provided with a buckle and web 12 that goes through the loop 11 and can be used to attach the present carrying device to additional carrying gear such as waist packs, hip packs, or backpacks, or other gear, even stationary gear.

Although the present invention is considered best for optimum performance, additional modifications and embodiments may be imagined by one practiced in the arts, including but not limited to: a shoulder strap, backpack straps, additional hook and loop, reduction of hook and loop, reduction of quick-release buckle systems, additional quick-release buckle systems, drawstring hood closure, drawstring end closure with tongue flap on hood, hook and loop closure at an additional tongue flap on hood, webbing to hold tools/objects/utensils inside without compartments, pockets or compartments on the exterior of the device, a clip exterior attachment system, flap or hook and loop closure on each compartment, and other modifications or embodiments.

Claims

1. A rolled carrying device specifically comprised for the carrying of a spare barrel assembly kit for a small caliber dearmer.

2. The rolled carrying device of claim 1, comprising a flat surface with or without thickness, with the capability of rolled closure.

3. The rolled carrying device of claim 2, with at least one means of closure of the roll.

4. The rolled carrying device of claim 3, with at least one means of closure of the end pieces.

5. The device of claim 2, with at least one compartment.

6. The device of claim 3, with at least one compartment.

7. The device of claim 4, with at least one compartment.

8. The device of claim 2, with at least one end closure comprising a hooded system.

9. The device of claim 3, with at least one end closure comprising a hooded system.

10. The device of claim 1, with at least one end closure comprising a hooded system.

11. The device of claim 1, with an exterior attachment system.
