Body inverting exerciser

A body inverting exerciser is comprised of a base frame, a carrier, and a safety device. The carrier is rotatably mounted on the base frame for rotation between a first position and a second position. While the carrier is located at the first position, the carrier contacts against the base frame. While the carrier is located at the second position, the carrier is inversive relatively to the base frame. The safety device is mounted on the base frame for securely positioning the carrier on the base frame while the carrier is located at the first position.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to exercisers of inverting human body, and more particularly to a body inverting exerciser having a safety device.

2. Description of the Related Art

A conventional body inverting exerciser is comprised of a base, a carrier rotatably mounted on the base, and a feet fastener. After the user lies on the carrier and the feet are held by the feet fastener, the user can turn the body backwards by manipulation of the fulcrum of its weight to turn the carrier backwards relatively to the base and to invert the body, thereby stimulating the blood circulation and reforming the skeleton.

However, when the user lies on the carrier in the beginning, the carrier is unfixed to be freely rotatable, such that the user tends to lose the manipulation of the fulcrum and fails to easily and accurately fasten the feet to the feet fastener; otherwise, before the user's body and feet are securely positioned respectively on the carrier and the feet fastener, the carrier tends to turn backwards itself to cause that the user falls from the carrier to further suffer injury.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a body inverting exerciser, which has a safety device to limit turning of the carrier and to prevent the user from injury incurred by incorrect operation.

The foregoing objective of the present invention is attained by the body inverting exerciser, which is comprised of a base frame, a carrier, and a safety device. The carrier is rotatably mounted on the base frame for rotation between a first position and a second position. While the carrier is located at the first position, the carrier contacts against the base frame. While the carrier is located at the second position, the carrier is inversive relatively to the base frame. The safety device is mounted on the base frame for securely positioning the carrier on the base frame while the carrier is located at the first position.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1-3, a body inverting exerciser is comprised of a base frame 10, a carrier 20, and a safety device 30.

The base frame 10 includes two U-shaped support struts 12 and 14, which tips are pivotally connected with each other, a crossbar 16 mounted on the support strut 12, and a buffer 18 mounted on a rear side of a midsection of the crossbar 16, being placed on the ground by the two support struts 12 and 14 intersected at a predetermined angle.

The carrier 20 includes an elongated board 21, an extensible bar 22, a feet fastener 23, and two pivot arms 24 mounted respectively on two long sides of the board 21. The extensible bar 22 is mounted on a midsection of a short side of the board 21 at a tip thereof. The feet fastener 23 is mounted on a bottom end of the extensible bar 22. The carrier 20 is rotatably mounted to a tip of the base frame 10 by the two pivot arms 24 thereof for rotation between a first position and a second position. While the carrier 20 is located at the first position, the extensible bar 22 contacts against the buffer 18. While the carrier 20 is located at the second position, the carrier 20 is inversive relatively to the base frame 10.

The safety device 30 includes a shell 31, a movable member 32, a fastening member 33, an extension spring 34, and a compression spring 35. The shell 31 has a first opening 36 at a top side thereof, a second opening 37 at a lateral side thereof, a straight tubular member 38 having a circular cross-section and mounted at an inner side of the top side thereof for communication between inside and outside thereof, and a first lug 39 protruding from an outer side of the straight tubular member 38. The movable member 32 is L-shaped, having a cylindrical portion 40, an engaging portion 41 extending from an end of the cylindrical portion 40, a second lug 42 formed at a lateral side of the engaging portion 41, and a recess 43 formed at a distal end of the engaging portion 41. The fastening member 33 has a body portion 44, an arched driven potion 45, a hook-like portion 46 formed at a top end of the body portion 44, and a circle 47 formed at a midsection of the body portion 44. The driven portion 45 has an end connected to the body portion 44 and abutting the circle 47 and the other end formed as a retaining portion 48. The cylindrical portion 40 of the movable member 32 is inserted through the straight tubular member 38. The engaging portion 41 extends towards the second opening 37. The extension spring 34 has two ends connected respectively to the first lug 39 and the second lug 42 for generating resilience, which can force the cylindrical portion 40 to run upwards through the straight tubular member 38 and out of the shell 31. The fastening member 33 is rotatably mounted inside the shell 31 on the circle 47 by a bolt 49 inserted through a center of the circle 47. The hook-like portion 46 runs through and out of the first opening 36 to be located over the shell 31. The driven portion 45 extends from the second opening 37 out of the shell 31 to be engaged with the recess 43. The compression spring 35 has two ends lying respectively against a bottom end of the movable member 32 and an inner periphery of the shell 31 for generating resilience, which keeps pushing the body portion 44 towards the movable member 32. The shell 31 is mounted at a front side of a midsection of the crossbar 16 of the base frame 10, wherein the cylindrical portion 40 has a tip corresponding to the extensible bar 22 of the base frame 20, and the hook-like portion 46 faces outwards.

While the user intends to do exercise by the present invention, as shown in FIG. 3, the user can turn the carrier 20 to the first position, enabling the extensible bar 22 to contact against the buffer 18 of the base frame 10 and the cylindrical portion 40 of the movable member 32 and to further push the cylindrical portion 40 to slidably move downwards along the straight tubular member 38. In the meantime, the recess 43 of the extensible bar 22 drives the driven portion 45 of the fastening member 33 to turn downwards to further enable the hook-like portion 46 to turn towards the extensible bar 22 and to jam the extensible bar 22. Since the extensible bar 22 is jammed by the hook-like portion 46, the carrier 20 is securely positioned at the first position to facilitate that the user can lie on the carrier 20 and adjustably fasten the feet to the feet fastener 23 until the user confirms that the body and the feet are securely positioned.

Referring to FIG. 4, the user can move away the tip of the fastening member 33 to disengage the hook-like portion 46 from the extensible bar 22 of the base frame 20. While the fastening member 33 is moved, the body portion 44 drives the movable member 45 to turn upwards until the retaining portion 48 contacts against the inner periphery of the shell 31, thereby securing the fastening member 33 in position. The movable member 45 is turned to drive the movable member 32 to move upwards and the cylindrical portion 40 is driven by the resilience of the extension spring 34 to push the extensible bar 22 of the carrier 20 to move upwards, such that the carrier 20 is freely rotatable for turning the user's body towards the second position to be inversive relatively to the base frame 20. While the extensible bar 22 further pushes the movable member 32 to drive the fastening member 33 to turn, the extensible bar 22 drives the hook-like portion 46 to turn by the compression spring 35 to securely jam the carrier 20.

In conclusion, the present invention employs the safety device to limit the turning of the carrier to further prevent the user from injury incurred by incorrect operation.

Claims

1. A body inverting exerciser comprising:

a base frame;
a carrier rotatably mounted to said base frame for rotation between a first position, in which said carrier contacts against said base frame, and a second position, in which said carrier is inversive relatively to said base frame; and
a safety device mounted on said base frame for securely positioning said carrier to said base frame while said carrier is located at the first position.

2. The body inverting exerciser as defined in claim 1, wherein said safety device comprises a shell, a movable member, and a fastening member, said movable member and said fastening member being movably mounted in said shell; said carrier pushes said movable member to drive said fastening member to fasten said carrier.

The body inverting exerciser as defined in claim 2, wherein said shell of said safety device comprises a straight tubular member in communication with inside and outside thereof; said movable member comprises a cylindrical portion and a recess; said fastening member comprises a hook-like portion and a driven portion, said cylindrical portion being mounted inside said straight tubular member to enable said movable member to move along said straight tubular member and said driven portion is jammed with said recess, whereby said hook-like portion is driven to turn and to fasten said carrier.

4. The body inverting exerciser as defined in claim 3, wherein said safety device comprises an extension spring having two ends mounted respectively to said shell and said movable member for generating resilience that keeps pushing said cylindrical portion of said movable member outwards.

The body inverting exerciser as defined in claim 3, wherein said safety device further comprises a compression spring, said compression spring has two ends mounted respectively to said shell and said fastening member for generating resilience that keeps pushing said hook-like portion towards said cylindrical portion of said movable member.
