Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention is related to a multi-purpose towel for golf equipments. More particularly the invention is related to a multi-purpose towel that facilitates to clean a golf ball as well as golf club and other golf equipments and that is handy for the golfer to use during the play. The invention is also related to a multi-purpose towel for golf equipments, which has either a golf ball cleaning patch or a golf ball cleaning pocket instead of patch on a towel part.

Conventionally, the golfers have used a regular towel, brush, golf ball washer, or golf ball cleaner in order to clean a golf ball while they play golf. A towel is handy, but not so efficient against some conditions such as tough mud stuck in the embossments of the golf ball. A brush can be used against the mud, but it is not always easy to hold and brush the golf ball safely and cleanly with hands. A golf ball washer is very effective to clean a golf ball in a dirty condition, but it is available only beside the tee area. Since a golfer usually needs to clean the golf ball on the green, the golf ball washer is not helpful at the moment of great need. A golf ball cleaner of box type is also good at fighting the dirt off the golf ball, but it is bulky to carry around and inconvenient to use because liquid is related.

Accordingly, a need for a handy and efficient golf ball cleaning towel is present and immediate. It should be handy to carry around even off the tee area, efficient to fight against a tough dirt stuck in the embossments of a golf ball, and easy to handle a relatively small ball in a slippery situation. This invention is directed to solve these problems and satisfy the long-felt need.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The multi-purpose towel for golf equipments is an innovation mainly on cleaning a golf ball all across the golf field. With the hooking clip, the multi-purpose towel can be attached to a golf equipments such as a golf bag or to a golfer's belt. The present invention contrives to solve the disadvantages of the prior art.

An object of the invention is to provide a multi-purpose towel for golf equipments, which is particularly efficient to clean a golf ball.

Another object of the invention is to provide a multi-purpose towel for golf equipments, which is easy to use and handle in a golf course. In order to achieve the above objects, the present invention provides a multi-purpose towel for golf equipments that includes a towel part having a predetermined geometrical shape, an engaging part attached to the towel part for attachment to a golf equipments, preferably hooking clip, and a golf ball cleaning part made of fabric with a high coefficient of friction.

The towel part includes a towel cloth that is suitable to wipe a golfer's hands or to clean golf club or other golf equipments. The towel part is preferably rectangular and its area is big enough to accommodate the golf ball cleaning part and the regular towel part on the multi-purpose towel, preferably between about 600 square centimeters and about 2600 square centimeters.

The engaging part includes a hooking clip and is attached to an edge of the towel part.

The golf ball cleaning part includes a patch of cloth. The patch includes a plurality of bristles of predetermined length and stiffness suitable to brush out dirt from the embossments of a golf ball. The golf ball cleaning part has a predetermined geometrical shape, preferably a square or a circle.

Alternatively, the golf ball cleaning part includes a pocket. The pocket has an internal surface made of cloth with a plurality of bristles of predetermined length and stiffness. The shape of the pocket can be rectangle or semi-circle, and the size of pocket is big enough to hold a golf ball. The golf ball cleaning pocket has a couple of holes at the bottom, which is big enough to shed dirt from inside of the pocket but small enough to keep a golf ball from slipping past.

The invention includes many embodiments from the combination of the variation of the parts of the multi-purpose towel. In other embodiments, the shape of the towel part can be diamond, square, oval, trapezoid, or triangle, and the shape of the golf ball cleaning part can be diamond, square, oval, or circle. The golf ball cleaning part is a style of either a patch or a pocket.

Many other innovations, features, and advantages will be evident with the following description of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In FIG. 1, a multi-purpose towel 50 for golf equipments is shown. The multi-purpose towel includes a towel part 10 having a predetermined geometrical shape, an engaging part 12 attached to the towel part 10 for attachment to a golf equipments, and a golf ball cleaning part 14 partially covering the towel part 10.

The towel part 10 of predetermined shape, preferably rectangular, is usually used to wipe a golfer's hands or to clean the golf club or other golf equipments, but not quite efficient to clean a golf ball. Therefore, we need a tougher measure to clean a golf ball. The problem can be solved by providing a golf ball cleaning part 14 partially covering the towel part 10 as shown in FIG. 2. The golf ball cleaning part 14 is made of a patch of cloth. The patch includes a plurality of bristles 20 or loops 22 shown in FIG. 3 of predetermined length and stiffness suitable to brush out dirt from the embossments of a golf ball. The golf ball cleaning part 14 has a high coefficient of friction and is preferably made of Velcro, and has a predetermined shape, preferably rectangular. For the purpose of decoration and safety, the towel part 10 is hemmed with a strip of soft cloth 16.

The multi-purpose towel 50 has an engaging part 12 for the attachment to golf equipments. The engaging part 12 is preferably a hooking clip 12 to be hooked to a semi-circular ring, a part of a golf bag as shown in FIG. 7 and FIG. 8.

In FIG. 4, a multi-purpose towel 60 for golf equipments with a golf ball cleaning pocket 24 is shown. Compared to the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, this embodiment has the pocket 24 as the golf ball cleaning part instead of the patch 14. The golf ball cleaning pocket 24 is big enough to hold a golf ball, and has one or two internal surfaces 26, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, that are made of cloth, preferably Velcro, with a plurality of bristles 20 or loops 22 as in FIG. 3 of predetermined length and stiffness suitable to brush out dirt from the embossments of a golf ball 90. The golf ball cleaning pocket 24 has one or more holes 28 at the bottom as shown in FIG. 4, which is big enough to shed dirt accumulated otherwise and small enough to keep the golf ball 90 from slipping past.

The multi-purpose towel 50 or 60 is easy to carry around the golf field. As shown in FIG. 7 and FIG. 8, the multi-purpose towel 50 can be attached to a golf bag using the hooking clip 12, the engaging part. If necessary, the multi-purpose towel 50 can be unhooked from the golf bag and then hooked to a golfer's waist belt, for instance. FIG. 8 shows the detail of hooking the clip 12 to a golf bag.

While the invention has been shown and described with reference to different embodiments thereof, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that variations in form, detail, compositions and operation may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the accompanying claims.
