Air blower

An air blower has a left cover, a right cover, a vented disk, an impeller and a motor. The motor is mounted at the same side with an air inlet. The vented disk is mounted on the right cover by multiple first screws, and the left cover is combined with the right cover by the first screws with the impeller received between the left cover and the right cover. The motor is mounted beside an exterior of the right cover and blades of the impeller face to the motor. Therefore, the direction of the air flow is over and around the motor, and the strong air flow can effectively cool the operating motor, which prolongs the operating life of the motor.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an air blower, and particularly relates to an air blower wherein an air inlet and a motor are at the same side of the air blower.

2. Description of Related Art

Generally, an air blower has a motor mounted in one side, and an air inlet defined in the other side, i.e. the air blower has an impeller facing the air inlet to draw in air from outside, and no other equipment is mounted outside the air inlet, i.e., the motor is mounted on the other side of the air blower that is opposed to the air inlet. Because there is not any cooling device for the motor in the conventional air blower, the motor will become over-heated when the air blower is kept operating continuously for a long time, which will shorten the operation life of the motor. In addition, the motor also may draw in rainwater which is a serious safety issue leading to short circuits, and even electrocution of an operator.

Therefore, the invention provides an air blower to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the present invention is to provide an air blower that has a left cover, a right cover, a vented disk, an impeller, and a motor mounted within an enclosure.

Ambient air is drawn over the motor, and the strong air flow passing around the motor can effectively cool the operating motor, which prolongs the operating life of the motor.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference to FIGS. 1-2, an air blower has a left cover (2), a right cover (7), a vented disk (8), an impeller (4) and a motor (9) secured in a motor enclosure (12). With further reference to FIG. 7, the motor enclosure (12) has at last one opening (122), The disk (8) is mounted on the right cover (7) by multiple first screws (1), and the left cover (2) is combined with the right cover (7) by the first screws (1) and forms a cavity wherein the impeller (4) is received. The motor (9) is mounted beside the right cover (7). The impeller (4) is connected with the motor (9) through a spindle. The impeller (4) has multiple blades that face to the motor (9). When the impeller (4) is rotating, the air is drawn into the cavity via the vented disk (8) and the opening (122) of the motor enclosure (12), and then blown out from an air outlet (19). Therefore, the direction of the air flow is over the motor (9), and that strong air flow can effectively cool the enclosure (12) and thus prolong the life of the operating motor (9). In addition, the motor (9) is not fully enveloped by the enclosure (12), as the air entry direction is opposed to an exposed part of the motor (9), so the motor will not be splashed by the rainwater, meanwhile, the enclosure (12) itself can also protect the motor (9) from being splashed by the rainwater.

A capacitor box (20) having a capacitor (18), and a power cable (16) therein is mounted on the enclosure (12), and a box cap (17) sealing the capacitor box (20) is secured by two second screws (13) to encapsulate the capacitor (18) and the power cable (16). A switch (15) is mounted beside the capacitor box (20) and secured by a switch cover (14). A drain cover (11) is mounted at the side of the motor enclosure (12) by multiple third screws (10), whereby humidity and moisture can be vented by removing the drain cover (11) from the motor enclosure (12).

The air outlet (19) is first covered by a grille (3), and then grille (3) is secured to the air outlet (19) by a ring (5) with fourth screws (6) extending into the outlet (19).

FIGS. 2-7 show the air blower of this invention viewed from different directions.

It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
