Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to partition screen mounting means and more particularly, to a retractable partition screen mounting post.

2. Description of the Related Art

Partition screens or the like may be used in a room inside a house or office to divide the room into multiple working spaces. During installation of a partition screen in a house, partition screen mounting posts are used. Regular partition screen mounting posts are commonly made of metal in a predetermined shape and length. For holding different partition screens at different heights or in different houses, different partition screen mounting posts of different lengths may be used. Because the manufacturer must prepare different partition screen mounting posts of different lengths for selection, the manufacturing cost of partition screen mounting posts is relatively increased.

Therefore, it is desirable to provide a partition screen mounting post that eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a retractable partition screen mounting post that can vertically adjusted to fit the height of the installation space.

To achieve this and other objects of the present invention, the retractable partition screen mounting post comprises an elongated main post member, which has an inner receiving chamber extending through the length and corrugated outer coupling portions for the mounting of a partition screen, and a supplementary inner post member, which is inserted into the inner receiving chamber of the main post member and longitudinally movable relative to the main post member. The supplementary inner post member has a cross section fitting the cross section of the inner receiving chamber of the main post member. The retractable partition screen mounting post further comprises a plurality of blocking members respectively coupled to the main post member to keep the supplementary inner post member in the inner receiving chamber of the main post member. Further, the main post member is formed of a relatively longer upper part and a relatively shorter lower part. By means of moving the upper part along the supplementary inner post member relative to the lower part, the height of the retractable partition screen mounting post is adjusted to fit the height of the installation space.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a retractable partition screen mounting post according to the present invention.

FIG. 2 is an exploded view of a part of FIG. 1.

FIG. 3 is a schematic longitudinal view in section of the retractable partition screen mounting post according to the present invention.

FIG. 4 is a schematic transverse view in section of the retractable partition screen mounting post according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1˜3, a retractable partition screen mounting post in accordance with the present invention is shown comprised of an elongated main post member 10 and an elongated supplementary inner post member 20. The main post member 10 and the supplementary inner post member 20 are respectively made of metal, each having a substantially T-shaped cross section. The main post member 10 has an inner receiving chamber 11 for accommodating the supplementary inner post member 20 and corrugated outer coupling portions 12 for the mounting of a partition screen (not shown). The supplementary inner post member 20 has an outer diameter fitting the cross section of the inner receiving chamber 11 so that the supplementary inner post member 20 can be fitted into the inner receiving chamber 11 and moved longitudinally relative to the main post member 10.

The main post member 10 is comprised of two parts of different lengths, namely, the upper part 13 and the lower part 14. The lower part 14 is shorter than the upper part 13. Preferably, the lower part 14 is ⅕˜ 1/15 of the length of the upper part 13. The lower part 13 can be made having a length within 14˜30 cm, preferably 20 cm.

Further, pulley-like blocking members 3 are coupled to the main post member 10 and longitudinally movable along the main post member 10 to keep the supplementary inner post member 20 in the inner receiving chamber 11.

During installation, the lower part 14 of the main post member 10 is fixed to the floor of the house, and then the upper part 13 is moved upward from the lower part 14 along the supplementary inner post member 20 and then affixed to the ceiling or beam of the house, and then the main post member 10 and the supplementary inner post member 20 are riveted together, and then the partition screen (not shown) is coupled to the and corrugated outer coupling portions 12 of the main post member 10.
