Pneumatic shingle remover
An air pressure actuated tool easily operated by one person for removing shingles and attached nails from a roof to facilitate re-roofing or general roof material removal. With the actuation of a front mounted prying and lifting fork, the device is capable of loosening and removing roof shingles, roof paper, roof nails and roof underlayment by simply pulling the activation trigger, releasing pressure to the lifting fork. The upper pitch fork blade moves vertically and independently of the lower mounted shovel blade.
The present invention is a pitch fork adapted to be used to remove roofing materials with significantly less effort than conventional means and without separating the majority of the nails from the shingles. The pitch fork comprises two handles, a shovel blade, a pitch fork, trigger mechanism, and an air actuation piston. The body is an elongated frame with attached cylinder having the trigger mechanism attached to its rearward end, the shovel blade and pitch fork attached to its forward end, and an air hose housed therein to connect the trigger mechanism and the air piston. The shovel blade has a generally flat leading edge and the pitch fork has four generally pointed edges adapted for removing roofing materials.
In order to operate the shingle removing device of the present invention, the trigger mechanism must first be connected to an external pneumatic power source. Then the air piston may then be actuated by squeezing the trigger mechanism. This causes the pivotal repetitive lifting action of the pitch which in turn lifts shingles and attached nails from the roof structure.
Accordingly, it is a principal object of the invention to provide a pitch fork and shovel connected having a pivoting ability adapted to remove roofing materials.
It is another object of the invention to provide a shingle removing device having a pivoting and lifting pitch fork blade driven by an air piston connected to an external pneumatic power source.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a shingle removing device which enhances safety by allowing shingles and nails to be removed from a roof structure without separating the nails from the shingles, thereby eliminating potentially dangerous flying nails.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a shingle removing device with a pneumatically driven pivoting and lifting pitch fork which is easy to assemble and disassemble for repair and other purposes.
It is an object of the invention to provide improved elements and arrangements thereof in an apparatus for the purposes described which is inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing its intended purposes.
These and other objects of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

Claims
1. A pneumatic, shingle removing device comprised of a pneumatic actuated pitch fork mounted above a shovel blade allowing up and down movement of the pitchfork by a reciprocating piston.

6. A pneumatic shingle remover wherein two separate handles are mounted, one on the top and one on the front of the device for ease of control and operation comprising
- a steel pitchfork pivotally mounted above a steel shovel blade;
- said pivotally mounting means allowing the front pitch fork blade edge to move up and down independently of the lower mounted shovel blade.
