A series of slits along the perimeter of flat, flexible objects in that the objects can be connected together in a variety of ways for entertainment and/or functional benefit.
This invention allows interconnectability of flat, flexible objects through a series of slits along the perimeter of the objects.
The width of slits is approximately the same as the width of the paper or other medium which is being used.
The objects connect together by fitting one or more of the slits of one object into one or more of the slits of another object. Multiple objects can be connected together to allow for vertical, horizontal or 3-dimensional connecting.
In one embodiment a rectangle card with a width of 2.5 inches and a height of 3.5 inches, could have two slits, perpendicular to the edge, on each of the four sides of the card which are centered with respect to the corresponding edge and approximately 1.5 inches apart. Keeping the distance between the slits equal allows for the cards to be connected by any of the four sides of one card receiving any of the four sides of another card.
The perpendicular slits on the 3.5 inch sides of the card would be 0.5 inches in length and the perpendicular slits on the 2.5 inch sides of the card would be 0.25 inches in length. The length of the slits is such that after connecting two cards along each's 3.5 inch side and with the 0.5 inch slits, allows the 0.25 inch slits to line up. By connecting two cards along each's 2.5 inch side and with the 0.25 inch slits, allows the 0.5 inch slits to maintain an even spacing of 1.5 inches between the two connected cards. Having the slits line up and maintain an even spacing allows for additional connections to be made which will both strengthen and broaden the user's design.

Claims
1. An interconnectable amusement apparatus comprising:
- a playing card comprising a sheet of material;
- a plurality of inset slits formed around the perimeter of the playing card, the inset slits configured to receive at least one other playing card.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the depth of a slit of the plurality of inset slits is selected to provide coincidence of another slit on the playing card with a corresponding slit on an interconnected playing card.
3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the width of a slit of the plurality of inset slits is greater than the compressed thickness of the playing card and less than the uncompressed thickness of two playing cards.
4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of inset slits are substantially perpendicular to the perimeter of the playing card.
5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the perimeter forms a shape selected from the group consisting of rectangular, square, triangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, and circular.
6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the sheet of material is selected from the group consisting of paper, card stock, card board, plastic, metal, and a laminate.
7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the sheet of material has a design on a face thereof.
8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the design is a member of a collectable series.
9. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the design is a portion of a game.
10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein playing card further comprises a top, bottom, first side, and second side edges, the top and bottom edges having a length of approximately 2.5 inches and the first side and second side edges having a length of approximately 3.5 inches.
11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the top and bottom edges each comprise two insert slits extending inward from the top and bottom edge approximately 0.25 inches.
12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the first and second side edges each comprise two insert slits extending inward from the first and second side edges approximately 0.5 inches.
13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the inset slits on each edge of the playing card are centered with respect to the corresponding edge and approximately 1.5 inches apart from each other.
14. An interconnectable amusement system comprising:
- a plurality of playing cards, each playing card thereof formed from at least one sheet of material;
- a plurality of inset slits formed around the perimeter of each playing card, the inset slits configured to receive another playing card of the plurality of playing cards; and
- at least one sheet of material having a stiffness sufficient to enable stable interconnection of the plurality of playing cards.
15. The interconnectable amusement system of claim 14, wherein the sheet of material is selected from the group consisting of paper, card stock, card board, plastic, metal, and a laminate.
