Mother's melodies mobile
A remote controlled melodic device for soothing and/or comforting a child while sleeping. The melodic device comprises a sound emitting device. A recording member for recording one of a familiar voice and/or song on the sound emitting device. A securing member is provided for securing the sound emitting device to a surface, such as a playpen, swing, crib, or bed. A remote control device remotely activates the sound emitting device to play at least one of the recorded voice and song to sooth and/or lull the child back to sleep.
This application is based on Provisional Application Serial Number 60/657,318, filed Feb. 28, 2005.
FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates, in general, to a melodic device for soothing a child during sleep and, more particularly, to a remote-controlled melodic device which allows a caregiver to sooth a child back to sleep by remotely activating the device to play a loved one's voice when the child awakens.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONInfants and toddlers wake up several times during their sleep desiring comfort from their caregivers. The winding of a traditional mobile can upset extremely sound sensitive children. Often, the sound of a familiar and comforting voice is sufficient to lull the child back to sleep. Entering the room to lull the child back to sleep can be a time-consuming process, especially if the child wakes up several times and the caregiver is located on a different floor of the house from where the child is sleeping. Additionally, if the caregiver enters the room, the child may try to get out of bed before they have received a sufficient amount of sleep. Also, if the child is with a strange caregiver, i.e. other than a parent, the child may miss the voice of a familiar loved one.
There is a need in the art for a system for playing a familiar voice or a lullaby sung by a familiar and comforting voice to lull a child back to sleep. There is further a need in the art for a system that allows the caregiver to play the voice and/or song without actually entering the room and upsetting the child's sleep pattern.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTIONIt is therefore an object of the invention to provide a melodic device for soothing a child during sleep.
It is another object of the invention to provide a melodic device that can be remotely controlled.
It is still yet another object of the invention to provide a melodic device which can record a familiar and comforting voice which can lull a child back to sleep when in a babysitter's care.
It is still another object of the invention to provide a melodic device that can be customized to play a child's favorite melodies.
It is an even further object of the invention to provide a melodic device that can be remotely controlled to switch between recorded tracks and/or pre-purchased lullabies.
It is still another object of the invention to provide a melodic device that can attach to a variety of surfaces in which a child sleeps.
In addition to the various objects and advantages of the invention which have been described in some specific detail above it should be noted that various other objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons who are skilled in the relevant art from the following more detailed description, particularly, when such description is taken in conjunction with the attached drawing Figures and with the appended claims.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONBriefly, and in accordance with the forgoing objectives, the invention comprises a remote controlled melodic device for soothing a child during sleep. The melodic device comprises a sound emitting device. A means for recording one of a voice and a song on the sound emitting device. A means for securing the sound emitting device to a surface, such as a playpen, swing, crib or bed, and a means for remotely activating the sound emitting device to play at least one of the recorded voice and song to sooth and/or lull the child back to sleep.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Prior to proceeding to a more detailed description of the invention, it should be noted that identical components having identical functions have been designated with identical reference numerals for the sake of clarity.
Now reference is made to the Figures, which show the inventive remote controlled melodic device for soothing a child during sleep. The melodic device comprises a sound emitting device, generally indicated as 10 in
As shown in
As shown in
The interchangeable music selection buttons 30, 50 of the sound emitting device 10 and the remote control device 18 are capable of controlling and/or interchanging the tracks in order to customize a particular play order. The melodic device of the invention is also capable of playing a plurality of pre-recorded and/or purchased lullabies in a variety of tunes and languages.
The means 12 for recording and playing one of a voice and song can comprises a cassette recording and playing device. Alternatively, the means 12 for recording and playing one of a voice and song can comprises a compact disc player. Any other well-known recording and playing device may be used for recording and playing the recorded material from the sound emitting device 10.
As shown in
The sound emitting device 10 is clipped in place by any well known means 14. For example, the means 14 for securing the sound emitting device to a surface can comprises and nut and bolt system and/or a decorative plastic hook 22 and clip holding system 24 as shown in
