Adaptor to hang art paintings to conceal, when not in use, wall hung flat television (LCD or plasma) or wall recessed television for the purpose of home decorating

The trend toward downsizing homes and the increase sales of plasma and LCD televisions has increased the need for devices that conceal and expose the televisions for the purpose of home decorating. The ADAPTO-ART SYSTEM is designed to conceal and expose the wall-hung plasma, LCD, or recessed television for the purpose of home decorating. This is achieved by installing on the wall parallel to the television the track and rollers or ball bearers that glide the attached framed or canvas art painting. Sensors are incorporated within the system to conceal and expose the television by remote control. The system is a different approach in design and function from what is available. The system is superior to what is now available because it functions with the use of your personal choice of framed and canvassed art. It is economical, easy to install, and does not require any customization.

Description

The adaptor will be fabricated out of brushed steel that would support weight up to 100 pounds. There will basically be three main parts to the adaptor:

    • 1) The adjustable track is mounted on the wall parallel and close to the wall hung or recessed television. The tract can be mounted above or below or on the side parallel to the television to facilitate the best wall space clearance when the television is exposed. The track can be extended to accommodate wall mounted and recessed televisions from 30 inches to 65 inches wide.
    • 2) Two rollers or ball bearers with attached adjustable mounting brackets are used in the track to glide the art paintings to conceal or expose the wall hung or recessed television. The adjustable mounting brackets can be adjusted for the depth of the wall hung television plus clearance. The adjustable mounting brackets when used with the recessed television are adjusted for minimum clearance. The adjustable mounting brackets will adjust from 2 inches to eight inches in depth.
    • 3) The two art holders are adjustable mounting brackets that attach the frame of art paintings to the adjustable mounting brackets that are attached to the two rollers or ball bearers. All (4) four adjustable brackets are the same size and fit.

Sensors will be incorporated within the rollers or ball bearers to allow the remote control to operate the system. Companion art paintings as well as single framed or canvas art can be used to conceal and expose the wall hung or recessed televisions. Companion art will open and close much like two drapery panels at a window open and close on a traverse rod.

The users of this system may use any framed or canvassed art of choice that is the size necessary to conceal and expose the wall hung or recessed television used.

Two optional side panels made of light weight aluminum will be available for wall hung televisions will be included to conceal the sides of the television for a desired finished look. The side panels will be perforated for circulation of air required for plasma and LCD televisions and can be cut to size with the use of regular scissors. The panels will be installed by attaching them on the wall at each side of the television. The panels and the art adaptor will be made of brushed steel. The side panels will not be necessary for recessed televisions.

What is available now to conceal and expose wall hung televisions are Vultec ARTSREEN which has to be customized to fit different size televisions. Your choice of art paintings and frames are limited to their selection of art paintings and frames. The customization adds much cost to the system. Their system is different from our system in that their system requires a motor to roll the art painting up and down like a window shade to conceal and expose the framed wall hung or recessed television. Other attempts to conceal the television when not in use are the framed televisions with DVDs that show artwork on the screen of the television. This system does not conceal the television and it requires customization. The “pop-up” system lifts the television from a console piece of furniture. It allows the television to lift up when not in use and it goes down into the top of the console when not in use. This too is costly and requires some customization. The concepts are entirely different from our invention.

The increase in sales of plasma and LCD televisions should create a market for this system for home decorating. Wall hung and recessed television frees up space in the home.

It compliments the emerging popular modern and eclectic home decorating trend. It provides an alternative to gigantic home entertaining centers. For those who find it less esthetic to have an exposed wall hung or recessed television in their living room, this invention is a simple to install economical choice.
