Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention generally relates to wearing apparel. More specifically, the present invention is drawn to a styling scarf.

2. Description of the Related Art

American “urban” fashions eventually trickle down to become the fashions of preference for small towns throughout the nation. Furthermore, these same fashions are often embraced by other cultures throughout the world. One fashion that has appeared in recent times is that of the “do-rag” or head scarf. It is common to see teenagers and young adults sporting a colorful head scarf as part of their ensemble. Usually the scarf is tied on the head in an ungainly manner. Sometimes unsightly strings are employed to fasten the scarf to the wearer's head. The apparel art would most certainly welcome a head scarf that could be easily donned without additional, unsightly accouterments.

The related art abounds with disclosures of scarves worn on the head and utilized for protection against the elements. However, none of the above inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to disclose a styling scarf as will subsequently be described and claimed in the instant invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is drawn to wearing apparel and includes headwear that incorporates a stylish scarf. A first embodiment, to be dubbed a “Scarf Band Grill”, comprises an adjustable headband, which headband includes a removable styling scarf. A second embodiment (“Styling Scarf Cap”) includes a conventional baseball type cap having a crown and a beak. A styling scarf is attached to the rear of the cap and extends downwardly therefrom. Hook and loop fasteners are attached to the crown for tying the scarf in a preferred position. A third embodiment includes an opening in the crown to accommodate a ponytail.

Accordingly, the instant invention presents unique headwear that incorporates a styling scarf. The scarf may be removably attached to a headband or incorporated in a baseball type cap.

The invention provides for improved elements and arrangements thereof for the purposes described which are inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing their intended purposes.

A clear understanding of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Attention is first directed to FIGS. 1 and 2 wherein the scarf band grill is generally indicated at 10. Scarf band grill 10 comprises a headband strap 12 adapted to be worn around the head of a wearer W in a conventional manner. The headband strap has respective inner and outer faces 14 and 16 and first and second ends 18 and 20. A first array of hook and loop fasteners 22 is disposed on the outer face of strap 12 at second end 20. A second array of hook and loop fasteners 24 is disposed on the inner surface of the strap at first end 18. This arrangement permits the strap to be adjusted to the wearer's head size for a comfortable fit. A third array of hook and loop fasteners 26 is disposed on the inner surface 14 and extends from second end 20. Decorative styling buttons 28 are positioned on the outer surface at first end 18. A styling scarf 30 is adapted to be attached to the inner face 14 of strap 12. Scarf 30 has an upper end 32, which upper end is provided with a fourth array of hook and loop fasteners 34 on an outer surface thereof. Thus, scarf 30 can be removably attached to strap 12 as desired. A plastic insert 25 is encased in the strap adjacent first end 18. Insert 25 enables the strap to retain its shape and fit. As contemplated, the scarf band grill will be fabricated in a variety of materials, sizes, lengths and colors. The materials may be washed by hand or machine (no bleach). The versatility of the scarf band grill allows the wearer to mix and match colors and to wear the strap sans scarf if desired.

As best seen in FIGS. 3-5, the styling scarf cap comprises a baseball style cap having a crown 40 and a beak 42. A styling scarf 44 is fastened to the rear edge of crown 40. A pair of thin hook and loop-covered straps 46 has respective distal ends 46a attached to the rear edge of crown 40. The proximate ends 46b of the straps are free ends. The free ends 46b of straps 46 can be fastened together by hook and loop fasteners 48 (FIG. 4) so that scarf 44 may be worn in a tied back look and will not slip off the wearer's head. A slit 40a may be formed in the crown to accommodate a ponytail (FIG. 5). The styling scarf cap will also be fabricated in a variety of materials, sizes and colors. The materials may be washed by hand or machine (no bleach).

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
