BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

This invention is an accessory for toilet seats. The bottom side of toilet seats are generally not sanitary. Traditionally, the hand is placed on the underside to raise and lower the seat. There is a need to alter this procedure with an economical, disposable tool, that is reasonably attractive, and can be changed periodically.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention constitutes an inexpensive flexible strap which adheres to a convenient spot on the underside of a toilet seat. The invention consists of a nylon strip with adhesive on one side, and when a portion is folded over a plastic tab, becomes a flexible strap. The design makes it easy to grasp and raise or lower the seat, yet avoid touching the toilet seat or bowl. The strap process is disposable, making it very practical. In addition, the strap may be color coordinated, so that it matches or contrasts most toilet assemblies.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is the conventional toilet, with seat attached, in raised position showing the invented strap placed on the underside of the seat.

FIG. 2 shows the toilet with the seat in lowered position and invented strap attached and protruding from the toilet rim in relaxed position.

FIG. 3 is an upscale view of attached inventiion showing the flexible nature of the strap at the point it extends past the rim of toilet. A plastic tab is shown in the end of the strap.

FIG. 4 shows the plastic tab separated from the invented strap for more clarity.

FIG. 5 provides a full-scale side view of the invented strap with the removable backing partially raised from the adhesive portion that attaches to the toilet seat.

FIG. 6 is a full-scale view of the invented strap with the plastic tab placed in the folded over and bonded portion.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIG. 1 is a partial toilet seat assembly. It includes a toilet bowl and seat. The seat is attached to the bowl with two hinges which facilitate raising and lowering the seat. The invention, Disposable Toilet Seat Lifting Strap, is shown in used position, adhered to the underside of the seat. In this position, the strap is used to lower the seat.

FIG. 2 shows a different view of the toilet bowl and seat with the seat lowered. The invented strap is shown attached to a convenient area along the underside of the seat. The strap is visibly protruding from the seat edge, thus allowing the user to lift the toilet seat without touching the seat or the bowl.

FIG. 3 shows an upscale portion of the toilet seat lowered on the toilet bowl. The flexible nylon strip, with adhesive on one side, is shown folded over a plastic tab. The fold is bonded together and extends back to the rim of the toilet seat. The remaining strip is shown adhered to the underside of the seat. The strap attaches firmly to the seat. However, the consistency of the adhesive allows for forced removal when a new replacement is desired.

FIG. 4 shows full-scale the plastic tab used inside the folded strip. It's purpose is to insure a firm grip with the hand when using the invented strap to raise or lower the toilet seat.

FIG. 5 shows full-scale a side view of the invented strap with a portion of the removable backing peeled up from the adhesive area. With the backing removed, this area adheres to the underside of the toilet seat. The sides of the strap are seen fully bonded together over the plastic tab.

FIG. 6 is a full-scale view of the preferred embodiment of the invented strap, completely fabricated, with the plastic tab bonded in position under the folded and bonded flexible nylon strip. The opposite end portion shows the adhesive area of the invented strap with the removable backing in place.

In accordance with the preferred embodiment of the invented strap, the flexible nylon strip is preferably Velcro hook and the plastic tab is preferably formed of a molded polypropylene plastic material approximately 2 mm thick. The Velcro hook is also about 2 mm thick and is manufactured by Velcro U.S.A. of Manchester, N.H.
