Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a buffer and partition fixture for fans and a fixture for rotating objects, and more particularly to a fixture capable of fixing a rotating object (such as a fan and a motor) into a fixed object (such as a casing) without using screws to reduce noises and vibrations effectively.

2. Description of Related Art

Referring to FIG. 1, a traditional cross flow fan installed in a computer system for dissipating heat is illustrated. The traditional cross flow fan includes a casing 7, a cross flow fan 8 and a motor 9. The cross flow fan 8 is installed inside the casing 7 and the cross flow fan 8 can rotate freely inside the casing 7. The motor 9 is secured onto a lateral side of the casing 7 by two screws 91, and the axle of the motor 9 is extended into the interior of the casing 7 and connected to an end of the cross flow fan 8 appropriately. When the motor 9 drives the cross flow fan 8 to rotate, air is drawn into the casing 7 through the air inlet 71 and out from the air outlet 72, so as to achieve the air cooling and heat dissipating effects.

However, the cross flow fan 8 of the foregoing prior art is secured onto the casing 7 by screws 91. Since the motor is in direct contact with the casing 7, the operation of the motor 9 will cause noises and vibrations. Such noises and vibrations not only affect the stability of a computer system, but also cause sound pollution, which affects a user's work. Besides the cross flow fans, other rotating objects such as axial flow fans, snail fans, and their motors also have the same noise and vibration issues.

Referring to FIGS. 2 to 4, a buffer and partition fixture for fans in accordance with the present invention are illustrated. The buffer and partition fixture for fans comprise a casing 1, a cross flow fan 2, a motor 3, and a plurality of elastic fixtures 4. The casing 1 includes a wind shield 11, a wind guide panel 12, a first side board 13 and a second side board 14. The two side boards 13, 14 are installed face-to-face and separated by a certain distance for facilitating installation of the cross flow fan 2 between the two side boards 13, 14. The wind shield 11 and the wind guide panel 12 are installed between the two side boards 13, 14. Both ends of the wind shield 11 and the wind guide panel 12 are connected to the two side boards 13, 14, such that the wind shield 11, the wind guide panel 12, the first side board 13 and the second side board 14 constitute the casing 1. The casing 1 has an air inlet 15 and an air outlet 16 installed separately at an external edge of the cross flow fan 2.

The cross flow fan 2 is installed inside the casing 1 and rotates freely inside the casing 1. The motor 3 is installed on the exterior of the casing 1. The axle 31 of the motor 3 extends into the casing 1 and is coupled to an end of the cross flow fan 2, such that the motor 3 drives the cross flow fan 2 to rotate, and air is drawn into the air inlet 15 and discharged out of the air outlet 16. Air cooling and heat dissipation are achieved thereby. The foregoing structure is substantially the same as that of the prior arts, and since it is not the main point of the present invention, will not be described further here.

The elastic fixture 4 is an elastomer made of a rubber material with better elasticity. The elastic fixture 4 has appropriate cylinders of different lengths, a first fixed section 41 and a second fixed section 42 disposed on each elastic fixture, and a first groove 411 and a second groove 421 disposed around the external edge of the first fixed section 41 and the second fixed section 42. The two fixed sections 41, 42 are installed on the elastic fixture 4 and separated by an interval, such that the two fixed sections 41, 42 are maintained with an appropriate distance from each other. A first end 43 and a second end 44 are formed respectively on both ends of the elastic fixture 4, and the first end 43 and the second end 44 are coupled close to the first fixed section 41 and the second fixed section 42, respectively. The first fixed section 41 and the second fixed section 42 are located between the two ends 43, 44.

The motor has a connecting base 5 at its front end, and the connecting base 5 is made of a plastic material. The connecting base 5 has a plurality of protruding ears 51 with a quantity equal to that of the elastic fixtures 4. The protruding ear 51 includes a first fixing hole 52 therein. A protruding member 521 is disposed at an internal edge of the first fixing hole 52 and corresponding to the first groove 411.

The first fixed section 41 of the elastic fixture 4 is inserted into the first fixing hole 52 of the connecting base 5, such that the first groove 411 disposed at the external edge of the first fixed section 41 is latched by the protruding member 521 disposed on the internal edge of the first fixing hole 52. The elastic fixture 4 is fixed onto the connecting base 5, so that the connecting base 5 can be used to couple the elastic fixture 4 with the periphery at the front end of the motor 3.

The external side of the first side board 13 of the casing 1 is secured to a fixed base 17 by a screw 18, such that the fixed base 17 is fixed onto a lateral side of the casing 1. The fixed base 17 has a plurality of elastic fixtures 4 with a quantity equal to that of the second fixing holes 171.

The second end 44 of the elastic fixture 4 is inserted into the second fixing hole 171 of the fixed base 17 disposed on a lateral side of the casing 1 and a through hole 131 of the first side board 13. The second groove 421 disposed at the external edge of the second fixed section 42 is latched by the second fixing hole 171, such that the elastic fixture 4 can be fixed onto the fixed base 17, and the fixed base 17 can be used to mount the elastic fixture 4 onto the casing 1. As a result, the elastic fixtures 4 are used to raise and mount the motor 3 onto the casing 1. Further, after the second fixed section 42 of the elastic fixture 4 is fixed onto the casing 1, the second end 44 of the elastic fixture 4 can be cut to an appropriate length to prevent any interference by other components. With the foregoing components, a buffer and partition fixture for fans in accordance with the present invention is defined.

In the embodiment described above, the second fixed section 42 of the elastic fixture 4 is fixed onto the fixed base 17, and the fixed base 17 is used to fix the elastic fixture 4 onto the casing 1. Of course, the second fixed section 42 of the elastic fixture 4 also can be fixed directly onto the casing 1.

The present invention mainly uses the elastic fixtures 4 to define the fixture to mount the motor for driving the cross flow fan 2 onto the casing 1 and provide an elastic buffer and partition function by means of the elastic fixtures 4, such that the motor 3 is not in direct contact with the casing, and thus reducing the noises and vibration produced by the operation of the motor, maintaining the stability of a computer system, and preventing sound pollutions.

In addition to the application of fixing the motor 3 of the cross flow fan 2 onto the casing for the cross flow fan 2, the fixture of the present invention is also applicable for fixing other rotating objects. In FIGS. 5 and 6, the present invention is used for fixing other types of fans, motors, and various rotating objects such as an axial flow fan 2a and a snail fan 2b. In other words, the axial flow fan 2a and the snail 2b (rotating objects) can be fixed onto a fixed object by the elastic fixtures 4, so that the rotating object such as an axial flow fan 2a or a snail fan 2b can be raised and mounted onto the fixed object. The rotating object is fixed to a fixed section 41 of the elastic fixture 4, and the other fixed section 42 of the elastic fixture 4 is used to fix the fixed object, so that the rotating object is raised and mounted onto the fixed object. With the elastic fixtures, the elastic buffer and partition functions are provided to reduce noises and vibrations.

In summation of the description above, the present invention herein enhances the performance over the prior arts and further complies with the patent application requirements and thus is submitted to the Patent and Trademark Office for review and granting of the commensurate patent rights.
