Structure of golf club head
A wooden golf club head has at least one flow guiding channel, which can guide the airflow, in a solid U-shaped trailing section of the club head body. The upper end of the flow guiding channel is sealed in order to enhance the action of swinging the club by eliminating air pressure differences to achieve a more stable swing and enhanced directional accuracy.
This application claims priority of Provisional U.S. Patent Application Ser. No. 60/673,353, filed Apr. 21, 2005.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to the structure of a golf club head, and more particularly to the structure of a golf club head that can enhance the action of swinging a club to eliminate an air pressure difference and thereby improve the path of the swinging club top achieve a much more stable and accurate direction-aiming effect.
2. Description of Related Art
U.S. Pat. No. 6,458,042, by the inventor of the present invention, discloses a golf club head with an air flow guiding structure. The golf club head disclosed in this patent has achieved a good reputation and comments from consumers after commercialization, such that the demand has exceeded the supply. Nevertheless, the inventor has continued researching and studying golf club heads with the expectation creating an even better product to benefit consumers. After innumerable design modifications and experiments, the inventor has come up with a golf club head having enhanced stability and more accurate direction-aiming effect in the action of swinging the club, by blocking and sealing the upper guiding port of the flow guiding channel of the prior club.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe main objective of the present invention is to provide a golf club head structure having a flow guiding channel similar to that disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,458,042, but in which the upper guiding port of the flow guiding channel is block and sealed while the lower guiding port of the flow guiding channel remain open in order to allow the golfer eliminate the unstable float phenomena in the action of swinging club eliminate air pressure differences along the path of swinging club and thereby enhance stability and directional accuracy. Thus, the golfer can have a better, more stable direction-controlling ability than is possible with the prior art club, to hit the center of the golf club face more precisely in order to improve the accuracy of every stroke.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The following is a detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, an upper end of a tubular threaded connection neck is arranged to be connected to a lower end of the shaft (not shown) in the body of the club head. The body has a ball-hitting face plate on a leading side of the golf club head and a hollow flow guiding channel in a U-shaped trailing section opposite the face plate. At the upper end of the flow guiding channel, namely at the intersection of a surface of the solid U-shaped trailing section and the top camber surface of the body of the golf club head, is a sealed portion. At the lower end of said flow guiding channel, namely at the intersection of the surface of the solid U-shaped trailing section and the bottom bevel surface of the golf club head, is an open lower guiding port cavity.
The inventor of the present invention has made a prototypical sample and conducted a hitting trial to compare the performance of the sample with that of a conventional golf club. The results of the trial showed that, no matter what the head speed, ball initial speed, hitting direction, hitting angle and the quantity of the path deviation, the present invention has a significantly better and more stable movement path and stronger ball momentum than that of the conventional golf club. Thus, it really has an improved effect in comparison with that of the conventional golf club.
Moreover, the present invention has been subjected to a “wind tunnel test” by means of a computer simulation, which verified that the action of swinging the club of the present invention generated no air pressure difference.
In comparison with that of the prior golf club head created by the inventor of the present invention, the path of a swinging club can be improved with much more stable and accurate direction-aiming effect.
Furthermore, referring to
The modified golf club head of this embodiment of the present invention has the same stability and accuracy enhancement effects as that of said first preferred embodiment
In conclusion, after comparing with that of the prior golf club also created by the inventor of the present invention, it has been verified that the action of the swinging club of the present invention eliminates air pressure differences to allow the golfer eliminate the unstable float phenomena in the action of swinging the club and thereby enhance stability and directional accuracy. Thus, the golfer can have a better, more stable direction-controlling ability than is possible with the prior art club, to hit the center of the golf club face more precisely in order to improve the accuracy of every stroke
