Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention generally relates to display devices. More specifically, the present invention is drawn to a case for displaying golf memorabilia.

2. Description of the Related Art

Be it your first par, a hole in one, an eagle putt or an important tournament win, the golf balls used in the particular scenarios become a cherished memento. Such mementos are not to be kept under wraps but should be displayed prominently in an appropriate setting. Thus, a unique case to display prized golf balls would be a welcome addition to the art.

The related art, samples of which are cited and identified in the accompanying IDS, disclose cabinets or cases for the display of sports memorabilia. However, none of the above inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to disclose a case for the display of golf balls as will subsequently be described and claimed in the instant invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The golf ball display case of the instant invention is a housing enclosing a volume having a base, a top wall, two sidewalls and a back wall. A hinged door defines the front wall of the housing. A transparent panel forms the face of the front door. The base has multiple recesses therein for securing an array of golfing tees in erect orientation. Selected golf balls are supported on the tees. The back wall of the housing is covered with green material to simulate a golfing green. Alternatively the back wall may be covered with a mirror. The display case can rest on a planar surface or be suspended from a wall.

Accordingly, the invention presents a unique case that efficiently and pleasingly displays an array of selected golf balls. The invention provides for improved elements thereof in an arrangement for the purposes described that are inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing their intended purposes.

A clear understanding of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an environmental, perspective view of a golf ball display case according to the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a golf ball display case according to the present invention.

FIG. 3 is a partial view of a golf ball display case according to the present invention.

Similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the attached drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Attention is first directed to FIGS. 1 and 2 wherein the display case of the present invention is generally indicated at 10. Display case 10 comprises a base or bottom wall having a planar surface 12, top wall 14, sidewalls 16, 18 and back wall 20. A movable door 22 defines the front wall of the casing. Door 22 is mounted to top wall 14 by hinges 24. A latch 24a is employed to secure door 22. It should be noted that the door could be hinged to either sidewall or the bottom wall if a different opening orientation is desired. A transparent panel 26 forms the face of door 22.

An array of golf tees 30 is mounted in the casing the purpose of supporting an array of special memento golf balls 32 thereon. As best seen in FIG. 3, bottom wall 12 is provided with channels 12a to receive the tips of the tees 30 therein.

Preferably, back wall 20 is covered with a green material to simulate a putting green. However, as stated above, the back wall could alternatively be covered with a mirror to reflect the golf balls and present a different aesthetic effect.

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
