Tossing game
A tossing game comprising: an object for tossing onto a flat playing surface. The playing surface comprising a target. The playing surface being attached to a rear wall.
The present invention relates to a game for tossing an object onto a target.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONU.S. Pat. No. 6,161,833 relates to a washer tossing game for tossing washers at a target and scoring points based on how close the washer is tosed to the center of the target. The washer tossing game includes a mat with a center hole at the center of the mat. An upper surface of the mat has a pluralit of concentric scoring rings displayed thereon around the center hole of the mat including an inner scoring ring and an outer scoring ring. A plurality of annular washers are provided into a plurality of sets. The mat is rested on a surface such that the upper face of the mat faces upwards. The players then take turns tossing a washer from their set of washers at the mat. Points are awarded from washers that land in the center cup, the inner scoring ring and the outer scoring ring.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,050,889 relates to a game board assembly which comd provided with a center hole. In the storage mode of the game, in which the pieces are stored within the dish, each plug is plugged into the center hole of the piece mounted thereon. In the active mode of the game, the pieces are taken off the plugs and the dish is inverted and placed on the playing surface whereby the base of the dish is then raised above the playing surface to serve as the platform.
U.S. Pat. No. 6,244,598 relates to a bag tossing game for use by one or more players which comprises a pair of spaced apart, wedge-shaped target assemblies that are erected by suitably unfolding a unitary corrugated blank. Each target assembly presents an outer, inclined surface comprising a target orifice. The blank has a central panel forming the outer surface, a pair of foldable sides forming a fluteless bottom, and a front and a rear each having two foldable panels that present a fluteless bottom.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,755,439 relates to disk toss game for placing indoors or outdoors that require a player to toss a game disk into a target hole on a target board. The device includes a target board with a multi-sided bank shot wall and a target hole at one end, and a plurality of game disks that are tossed by a player at the target board from a predetermined distance so that the game disks may land in the target hole. The end of the target board is semi-octagonal in shape.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,575,480 relate to a game apparatus for use as a target for thrown projectiles or as a support for supporting an individual playing the toss game which includes a frame and a top panel mounted on the frame and deflectable relative to the frame. Interior support members attached to the top panel limit the degree of deflection of the top panel. Carpeting is positioned on the top panel having an upper layer of upwardly projecting fabric fibers angled toward one of the frame ends.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,351,968 relates to a cap toss game which utilizes a game board having a flat receiving surface and has an opening in the center that may receive a net.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,165,695 relates to a transportable bag tossing game having multiple scoring methods. A single target structure or a pair of target structures are positioned on a sporting plane such as the ground such that a certain amount of space is provided between the player tossing the bag and that player's target structure. Each target structure is comprised of a single injection molded part having a first wall disposed relatively perpendicular to the supporting plane and an angled second wall having an aperture located along the central longitudinal axis of the target structure. The object of the game is to direct projectiles through an aperture contained on the second wall.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,056,797 relates to a disk tossing game in which a target board is oriented essentially horizontally, but with a slight upward tilt in a front-to-rear direction. The target board surface is formed by a layer of soft foam material, such that a tossed disk landing on the target surface tends to remain at its initial landing point rather than rebounding away from the target surface.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,909,877 relates to a bag tossing game target having first and second generally planar, equally sized panels that are connected together by a hinge. The first and second panels are moveable between a first, in use configuration in which the first and second panels are coplanar, and a second, folded configuration in which the first and second panels lay back-to-back to each other. The first panel has a hole therein which is sized such that a bag can be tossed therethrough. The first and second panels each include an elongated hole adjacent one edge to form a handle by which the folded target can be carried. The panels are formed of a lattice structure to render the target lightweight. Elongated support legs are provided.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,871,216 relates to a bean bag toss game wherein the pieces of the game are assembled by means of grooves cut into the various sections of the game, allowing the sections of the game device to be secured without screws or collapsible legs.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,765,832 relates to a changeable target game apparatus including a collapsible housing member having a forwardly angled target impact panel provided with enlarged apertures and a target member rotatably disposed on the target impact panel and provided with a plurality of different sized openings.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,961,586 relates to a molded plastic bag tossing game for use by one or more players which can be disposed in either a transportable mode, display mode, or a playing mode. In the playing mode a pair of identical, modular target assemblies are deployed in spaced apart relationship to present a pair of slightly inclined, apertured targets towards which soft bags are thrown to generate points. Each target assembly comprises a resilient, molded plastic playing board of generally rectangular configuration, which includes an upper, elevated target aperture. Each target board comprises a removable, modularized elevator tray, which can be snap fitted to the boards to gently incline them for play. The tray leading edge is inclined.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,927,161 relates to a projectile throwing game which consists of two platforms with three circular holes in each platform. The platforms are joined together with a chain or other linkage at a fixed distance. A player stands on top of the platform at the end where the linkage is fastened. The player tosses, pitches or lobs all three disks toward the other platform trying to hit one of the three holes. Each hole is worth a particular number of points.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,877,256 relates to a tossing game which utilizes a pair of target areas or trays placed on the ground at a desired distance from one another. Each of the target areas or trays has a plurality of cups of varying heights. The players toss projectiles from a position adjacent one of the target areas to the other. Points are scored by landing a projectile either on the tray or in one of the cups.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,717,156 relates to a tossing game including first and second base members for placement on a substantially horizontal support surface spaced apart from one another, each of the base members having a cavity with an upwardly opened mouth and being in the shape of a truncated cone.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,565,375 relates to a game apparatus which includes one or more receiving or target means and one or more objects which can be thrown or projected towards the target area. The game has a target area which includes a receptacle having three dimensions.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to a tossing game. The tossing game comprises: an object for tossing onto a flat playing surface. The playing surface comprises a target. The playing surface is attached to a rear wall.
It is an object of the present invention for the objects to be tossed to be in the shape of a puck. The objects are tossed at a target. The target comprises a number of concentric circles. It is an object of the present invention for the target to have an opening in the middle of the target so that the objects can fall through the opening. It is an object of the present invention for a net to be attached underneath the opening to catch the objects when they fall through. It is an object of the present invention to award the most points for a puck that falls through the center circle, and lesser points to be awarded for an object that lands in one of the outer circles outside the center circle.
It is an object of the present invention for the objects when thrown at the target to land on the target and not to bounce off the target. It is an object of the present invention for the device to comprise a flat board that contains the target and attached to the flat board a rear wall that is the same length and height as the flat board.
It is an object of the present invention for the rear wall when the game board is open to act as a backboard so that the person playing the game can throw the objects at the rear wall and rebound the objects onto the playing surface. It is a further object of the present invention for the rear wall to act as a cover for the game board when the game board is closed. It is an object of the present invention for the rear wall to fold over the playing surface to close the game. It is an object of the present invention for the rear wall and the game board to be attached via hinges. It is an object of the present invention for the hinges to lock in an open position so that the rear wall can stand upright.
It is an object of the present invention for the rear wall to have a series of holes on the top of the wall. It is an object of the present invention for the holes to be able to have pegs fit in the holes. It is an object of the present invention for the user to be able to keep score by placing pegs in the holes.
It is an object of the present invention for the rear wall and the playing surface to be made of wood. It is an object of the present invention for the playing surface and the rear wall to be several inches thick.
It is an object of the present invention for the playing surface and the rear wall to have a lock to lock the two surfaces together when the game is not being played. It is an object of the present invention for the rear wall to have a cup holder attached to it so that a player can place a cup containing a drink in the cup holder when the player is playing the game.
It is an object of the present invention for the device to have a handle which is located either on the playing surface side or the rear wall for transporting the game when the game is in the closed position.
It is an object of the present invention for the playing surface to include a tape measure for measuring the distance where a player should toss the objects at the target. It is an object of the present invention for the game to include at least two devices as described above, and for the game to be played simultaneously between more than one person.
It is an object of the present invention for the points awarded in the game to comprise: three points for landing the object in the hole, two points for a leaner, an object leaning over the hole, and 1 point for landing the object on the target.
The present invention relates to a method for playing a tossing game comprising: opening a game board comprising a target. The game board is locked in an open position and objects are tossed at the target. Scoring is based on the position of the objects on the target.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The rear wall 70 can also have a cup holder 100, which is attached to the rear wall by an attachment mechanism.
When the game is not being played, the rear wall 70 folds on top of the playing surface 20 and can be locked by locking mechanism 110. There is also a handle 120 which can be attached to either the playing surface 20 or the rear wall 70 for carrying the device when it is in the closed position.
The playing surface 20 further contains a tape measure 130 which allows the players to measure the distance between the player and the playing surface 20. Also when two devices are being used, it allows the player to measure the distance between the two devices.
Claims
1. A tossing game comprising:
- an object for tossing onto a flat playing surface;
- said playing surface comprising a target;
- said playing surface attached to a rear wall.
2. The game of claim 1 wherein said object is in the shape of a puck.
3. The game of claim 1 wherein said target comprises a number of concentric circles.
4. The game of claim 1 wherein said target comprises an opening in middle of said target.
5. The game of claim 4 wherein said opening has a net attached underneath said opening.
6. The game of claim 1 wherein said target comprises concentric circles and an opening in center of concentric circles wherein most points are awarded to a player for a puck that falls through said opening, and lesser points awarded for an object that lands in one of said outer circles outside said opening.
7. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall is same length and height as said playing surface.
8. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall can fold over said playing surface to close said game.
9. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall and playing surface are attached via hinges.
10. The game of claim 9 wherein said hinges lock in an open position so that said rear wall can stand upright.
11. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall has a series of holes on top of said rear wall for pegs to fit in.
12. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall and said playing surface are made of wood.
13. The game of claim 12 wherein said playing surface and said rear wall are made of wood several inches thick.
14. The game of claim 1 wherein said playing surface and said rear wall comprise a lock to lock said playing surface and said rear wall together.
15. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall further comprises a cup holder.
16. The game of claim 1 wherein said rear wall or playing surface has a handle.
17. The game of claim 1 wherein said playing surface comprises a tape measure.
18. The game of claim 1 wherein said game includes at least two devices.
19. A method for playing a tossing game comprising:
- opening a game board comprising a target;
- locking said game in an open position;
- tossing objects to said target;
- scoring an amount based on position of said objects on said target.
