Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a top assembly, and more particularly to a top assembly with a lighting device.

2. Description of Related Art

A conventional top in accordance with the prior art only has a monotone type. Some top manufacturer changes the weight of the conventional top for an adult to train his/her arms or for a child to easily operating the top. For an amusing effect, some conventional tops provide whistle effect when being rotated.

However, all the conventional tops provide no lighting effect such that the conventional top needs to be advantageously altered.

The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the disadvantages of the conventional top assembly.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the present invention is to provide an improved top assembly that can contain snacks and provide a lighting effect when rotating.

To achieve the objective, the top assembly in accordance with the present invention comprises a top having a hollow cone-shaped body for containing snacks. A partition is made of transparent material and centrally mounted to the hollow body. A lighting device is disposed on the partition and lights due to a centrifugal force from the rotating top. A cover is centrally attached to the top of the partition. An operator selectively engaged to the top to drive the top for a rotation.

Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-5 and 7, a top assembly in accordance with the present invention comprises a top (10) and an operator (20) for rotating the top (10).

The top (10) includes a hollow cone-shaped body (11) for containing snacks, such as candy or jelly, for promoting the buying purpose to the top assembly. A plastic film is provided to close the hollow body (11) when the hollow body (11) contains jelly therein. A partition (12) is made of transparent material and centrally attached to the top of the hollow body (11). A lighting device (121) is mounted on the partition (12) and lights due to a centrifugal force from the rotating top (10). A round recess (122) is centrally defined in a top of the partition (12) and a series of ratchets (123) is formed on a periphery of the round recess (122). An engaging element (124) upwardly extends from a center of the round recess (122). A cover (13) is centrally attached to the top of the partition (12). In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the cover (13) is made of transparent material for promoting the lighting effect of the present invention. A through hole (131) is centrally defined in the cover (13). The through hole (13) has an area slightly greater than that of the round recess (122) to allow the operator (20) extend into the round recess (122).

The operator (20) includes a cylinder (21) having a closed end corresponding to the top (10) and an open end opposite to the closed end of the cylinder (21). A lower portion of the closed end has a series of pawls (211) radially extending therefrom and engaged to the series of ratchets (123) of the partition (12). Consequently, the top (10) only can be rotated in one-way relative to the operator (20) before detached from the operator (20). A hollow post (212) upwardly and centrally extends from the closed end of the cylinder (21) for movably and rotatably receiving an actuated rod (22). The actuated rod (22) has a lower end extending through the closed end of the cylinder (21) and formed with a tenon (221) selectively engaged to the engaging element (124) of the partition (12). A torsion spring (23) is sleeved on the actuated rod (22). The torsion spring (23) has a first end secured in the actuated rod (22) and a second end hooked on the hollow post (212). A cap (24) is longitudinally mounted to the cylinder (21) for closing the open end of the cylinder (21). The actuated rod (22) includes an upper end extending through the cap (24) and having a hat (222) mounted thereon for user to conveniently press the actuated rod (22) and make the top (10) detach from the operator (20) for rotating. The cap (24) has two ears (241) outwardly extending therefrom and diametrically corresponding to each other. The user's fingers can hold the two ears (241) for easily pressing the actuated rod (22).

With reference to FIGS. 4-7, when operating the top assembly of the present invention, the top (10) is connected to the closed end of the cylinder (21) to make the series of ratchets (123) and the tenon (221) respectively engaged to the series of pawls (211) and the engaging element (124), and then rotating the top (10) relative to the operator (20) according to the direction that is set by the series of ratchets (123) and the series of pawls (211). As a result, the top (10) rotates the actuated rod (22) relative to the cylinder (20) to wrench the torsion spring (23) for saving energy that temporarily can not be released due to the engaged series of ratchets (123) and the series of pawls (211). The user can press the actuated rod (22) to downward push the top (10) and make the series of ratchets (123) detach from the series of pawls (211). The saved energy in the torsion spring (23) is immediately released and rotates the actuated rod (22) in a high speed to drive the top (10) for rotation.

As described above, the top assembly in accordance with the present invention has advantages as followed. The lighting device (121) lights and forms a ring of light that promotes the amusing effect of a top when the top is rotated. In addition, the hollow cone-shaped body (11) is provided for containing snacks, such as candy or jelly, to promote the buying purpose to the top assembly.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
