Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to blankets, sheets or covers, and more particularly, but not by way of limitaion to a device used to cover at least two persons and ensures each covered person adequate material to remain covered.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Obtaining a good night sleep is paramount for ones ability to function at their best in the coming day. In order to achieve a good night sleep, one must typically have quiet, little or no light and most importantly, be comfortable. Providing a comfortable sleeping environment relies on tailoring to ones sleeping behavior. And as most married persons share the same bed, accommodating for more than one person in the same bed has never been an easy task.

The battle for sheets between couples sleeping in the same bed has been problematic since the day bed sheets were invented. One may toss and turn, inadvertently causing the other to lose their fair share of sheets thus compromising their level of comfort and ability to get a good night sleep. Therefore, it would be advantageous to develop a blanket, sheet or cover sheet that allows for individual cover ownership yet maintains some of the basic form factors of a typical blanket, sheet or cover such that it fits most typical beds.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

A more complete understanding of the present invention may be had by reference to the following Detailed Description and appended claims when taken in conjunction with the accompanying Drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 illustrates a top view of the present invention with the extra portion of the right side shown over the extra portion of the left side;

FIG. 2 illustrates the left portion of the present invention with the right portion cut away; and

FIG. 3 illustrates the right portion of the present invention with the left portion cut away.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring now to the drawings wherein like or similar elements are designated with identical reference numerals throughout the views and figures, and wherein the various elements depicted are not necessarily drawn to scale, and in particular, to FIG. 1, there is shown a cover 100 that is typically used with a bed to provide covers for the users. The cover includes a left side 102, a right side 104, a bottom portion 106 (to be placed at the foot of the bed), and a top portion 108 (to be placed at the head of the bed).

As illustrated the right side 104 includes an extra portion 110 which is extendable past the center of the cover 100, while the left side 102 includes an extra portion 120 which is also extendable past the center of the cover 100.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, when cover 100 is laid out flat, the extra portions 110 and 120 of the right side 104 and the left side 102 respectively are of sufficient material to allow overlap. It is contemplated to be within the scope of this invention that cover 100 could be, but is not limited to a blanket, sheet, comforter, quilt, or virtually any cut of material used to cover multiple users.

FIGS. 2 and 3 help to further illustrate the present invention, with FIG. 2 more clearly illustrating the left portion 102 of cover 100 with extra portion 120 and with FIG. 3 more clearly illustrating the right portion 104 of cover 100 with extra portion 110. As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, right portion 104 and left portion 102 are generally “L” shaped with left portion 102 mirroring right portion 104. Good result have been achieved by making the lengths 112 and 122 of extra portions 110 and 120 about equal to half the length of the cover 100, although it is contemplated to be within the scope of this invention that these lengths could be varied based on user preferences. As is further illustrated the extra portions 110 and 120 have generally squared ends, however it is contemplated that the ends could be angled, such as towards the middle of the cover 100.

Referring now to FIGS. 1-3, the use and operation of cover 100 will now be described. Typically the cover 100 is applied to the bed in a typical manner. Two users are covered with cover 100, with one user generally under the left portion and one user under the right portion. The separation of the upper portions of cover 100 helps to define each users sleeping area. Their feet are to be at or under the bottom portion 102 of cover 100, while the upper portion of their bodies are to be at or under the top portion 108 of cover 100. If either user rolls or moves away from the other user or the center of cover 100, while holding the cover 100, the extra portions 110 and 120 will move with the user respectively, thus preventing the user from stealing the covers from the other. The extra portions often move as a result of the user holding onto cover 100, or as a result of the friction between the user and or his clothing and cover 100. For example, if the user under the right side of cover 100 were to roll or move away from the user under the left side of the cover 100, extra portion 110 moves with the user under the right side and will provide extra coverage for the right side user, thus preventing him from stealing or removing the covers from the user under the left side.

As can be appreciated one advantage of cover 100, is that it can be made of a size to easily fit a variety of size beds, such as, but not limited to, full, queen and king sized beds. Additionally, it can be appreciated that cover 100 could be made of virtually any material such as, but not limited to, silk, satin, wool, cotton, linen, denim, synthetic material, or combinations thereof. However, good results have been achieved using cotton, as cotton is durable and proven to be easy to maintain.

In the preceding detailed description, reference has been made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments, and certain variants thereof, have been described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention. It is to be understood that other suitable embodiments may be utilized and that logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
