A garbage can includes mainly a can body, a ring, a stationary cover, two movable curved covers and a pressing device. By means of pressing down the pressing device, an activating rod in the pressing device enables the two movable curved covers to retreat to one side and stay there motionless, as an action of opening the opening of the stationary cover for throwing garbage in. When the opening of the stationary cover is to be closed after opened, press again the pressing device to force the activating rod to let the two movable curved covers extend out to close up the opening of the stationary cover.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The invention relates to a garbage can, particularly one that includes a cam body, a ring, a stationary cover, two movable curved covers and a pressing device. By pressing down a pressing body of the pressing device, an activating rod in the pressing device enables the two movable curved cover to retreat to one side and stay there stably, as an action of opening the opening of the stationary cover. When the opening of the stationary cover is to be closed, press again the pressing body to force the activating rod to let the two movable curved covers to extend out to close the opening of the stationary cover.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Conventional garbage cans usually have two types, having or not having a cover. The one with a cover, being more sanitary, has been improved preferably so that a can with pedal, as shown in FIG. 1, was invented. The can not only must keep its cover 10 bolted to match just with a can body 1, but also has a complex structure making assembly difficult. Moreover, because of numerous components related to a pedal 11 forming a complex driving mechanism 12 and the noise and an unsteady swinging of the can itself to cause collision while opening the cover 1, it is uneasy for assembly and inconvenient for use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The prime object of this invention is to offer a garbage can that is easier to open or close its movable curved covers on an opening of a stationary cover and stands more steadily.

The main characteristics of the invention is that to open or close the opening of the stationary cover is carried out by just pressing down a pressing device, activating an activating rod to force the two movable curved covers moving to open or close the opening of the stationary cover.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A preferred embodiment of a garbage can in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 2-7, includes a can body 2, a ring 3, a stationary cover 4, two movable curved covers 50, 51 and a pressing device 6.

The can body 2 has a bottom base 20 at its bottom and an opening 21 on top.

The ring 3 sitting around the opening 21 of the can body 2 possesses an annular edge 30 at its bottom and a fitting annular edge 31 on top.

The stationary cover 4 matching with the fitting annular edge 31, has an opening 40 in the center, a projection 41 with a hole 410 at its side, a fitting groove 411 and a slide base 412 on a side to be connected with the stationary cover 4, a post hole 413, a fitting piece 414 and a spring 415 at the center, a locking member 416 near its outer edge and two holes 417 in front of the locking member 416, and two fixing rods 42 in the inside.

The two movable curved covers 50, 51 are to be bolted with the fixing rods 42 of the stationary cover 4. The movable curved cover 50 has two sides respectively provided with a pivot base 500 and a locking edge 501 respectively on top and the bottom of its one side. The movable curved cover 51 has two sides respectively provided with a pivot base 510 and 511, a locking edge 513 and a stopping surface 5 14 at its two edges of its upper side respectively. The pivot base 510 has an activating groove 512.

The pressing device 6 is set on the projection 41 of the stationary cover 4, composed of a pressing body, an ornamental piece 61 and a covering piece 62. The pressing body 60 has a fitting recess 600 on top, an activating rod 601, a supporting post 602, a fitting groove 603 and a locking member 604 at its bottom. The ornamental piece 61 is fitted in the fitting recess 600. The covering piece 62 is fitted in the fitting groove 603 of the pressing body 60, having two arms 620 respectively with a fitting piece 621 on top.

In assembling, the ring body 3 is first fit on the opening 21 of the can body 2. Then, the two movable curved covers 50, 51 are fixed with the stationary cover 4 by means of bolts (N) piercing through the pivot bases 500, 510 and 511 to be combined with the fixing rods 42. Next, put the fitting piece 414 and the spring 415 into the post hole 413 and keep the locking member 416 fitted on the projection 41. The pressing body 60 is successively fitted on the projection 41 from its top, enabling the activating rod 601 to penetrate the hole 410 of the projection 41 and the supporting post 602 to fit in the fitting groove 411 and the slide base 412. Meanwhile, the activating rod 601 keeps going further into the activating groove 512 of the blade 51. By then, the locking member 604 of the pressing body 60 is actually locked with the locking member 416 of the projection 41, and the spring 415 pushes up the pressing body 60. Next, the covering piece 62 is put to lock in the fitting groove 603 of the pressing body 60 after penetrating the hole 417 of the projection 41, and the ornamental piece 61 is attached to the recess 600 of the pressing body 60. Finally, the stationary cover 4 placed to fit in the fitting annular edge 3 1 of the ring 3.

In using, the garbage can in the present invention, the stationary cover 4 and the ring 3 are at first taken off and put a plastic bag into the can body 2 with its opening folded outwards on the opening of the can body 2. Then, put the ring 3 and the stationary cover 4 back on the can body 2, with the opening of the plastic bag fixed with the ring edge 30. Next, press down the pressing body 60 that is to activate the activating rod 601, being supported by the supporter post 602 and the slide base 412, to move upwards so as to let the activating groove 512 on the blade 51 rotate, dragging successively the stopping surface 514 on the movable curved cover 51 to move to contact with the locking edge 501 on the movable curved cover 50 and go further aside till the opening 40 is fully opened. By the moment, the locking member 416 and the locking member 604 lock with each other, keeping the activating rod 601 motionless. Now it is ready for throwing garbage in.

On the contrary, when the opening 40 of the stationary cover 4 is to be closed, just press down the pressing body 60 once again. Then the locking member 416 will separate apart from the locking member 604, so the pressing body 60 is lifted up by the spring 415 and the activating rod 601, being supported by the supporting post 602 and the slide base 412, moves downwards, making the activating groove 512 on the movable curved cover 51 rotate, dragging successively the locking edge 513 on the movable curved cover 51 to keep the two movable curved covers 50, 51 close up the opening 40.

A second preferred embodiment of a garbage can in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 8-10, includes a can body 2′, a ring 3, a stationary cover 4, two movable curved covers 50, 51 and a pressing device 6.

The can body 2′ possesses a bottom base 20′ at its bottom and an opening 21 on top. The bottom base 20′ has a pedal 22′ linked with a pulling rod 23′ that has an inserting end 230′ at an upper end and is covered with a decorating strip 24′.

The ring 3 fitting on the opening 21′ of the can body 2′, possesses an annular edge 30 at its bottom and a fitting annular edge 31 on top.

The stationary cover 4 fitting with the fitting annular edge 31 has a center opening 40, a projection 41 with a hole 410 at its side, a fitting groove 411 and a slide base 412 on a side to be connected with the stationary cover 4, a post hole 413, a fitting piece 414 and a spring 415 at its center, a locking member 416 near its outer edge and two holes 417 in front of the locking member 416, and two fixing rods 42 in its inside.

The two movable curved covers 50, 51 are bolted with the fixing rods 42 of the stationary cover 4. The movable curved cover 50 has two ends respectively provided with a pivot base 500 and a locking edge 501 respectively at the top and the bottom of one side. The movable curved cover 51 has two ends provided with pivot bases 510, 511, a locking edge 513 and a stopper 514 at two edges of the upper side respectively. The pivot base 510 has an activating groove 512.

The pressing device 6 is set on the projection 41 of the stationary cover 4, composed of a pressing body, an ornamental piece 61 and a covering piece 62. The pressing body 60 has a fitting recess 600 at the top, an activating rod 601, a supporting post 602, a fitting groove 603 and a locking member 604 at the bottom. The ornamental piece 61 is attached on the fitting recess 600. The covering piece 62 is to fit in the fitting groove 603 of the pressing body 60, having two arms 620 respectively with a fitting piece 621 at the top. And a posthole 622 is formed between the arms 620.

In assembling, the ring 3 is first fitted on the opening 21′ of the can body 2′. Then, the two movable curved covers 50, 51 are fixed with the stationary cover 4 by means of bolts N engaging the pivot bases 510 and 511 to be combined fixedly by the fixing rods 42. Next, put the fitting piece 414 and the spring 415 into the posthole 413 and keep the locking member 416 fitted on the projection 41. The pressing body 60 is successively fitted on the projection 41 from its top, enabling the activating rod 601 to penetrate the hole 410 of the projection 41 and the supporting post 602 to fit in the fitting groove 411 and the slide base 412. Meanwhile, the activating rod 601 keeps going further into the activating groove 512 of the movable curved cover 51. By then, the locking member 604 of the pressing body 60 is actually locked with the locking member 416 of the projection 41 and the spring 415 pushes up the pressing body 60. Next, the covering piece 62 is put to lock in the fitting groove 603 of the pressing body 60 after penetrating the hole 417 of the projection 41. Then, put the inserting end 230′ of the pulling rod 23′, linked with the pedal 22′, into the post hole 622. And attach the ornamental piece 61 on the recess 600 of the pressing body 60 and the decorating strip 24′ on the can body 2′ covering the pulling rod 23′. Finally, the stationary cover 4 fitted with the fitting annular edge 31 of the ring 3.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A garbage can comprising:

a can body having an opening at the top;
a ring fitting on said opening of said can body, having an annular edge at the bottom and a fitting annular edge at the top;
a stationary cover fitting on said fitting annular edge of said ring, having an opening in the center, a position rod set in the interior of said opening, and a projection at its side which has a hole, a fitting groove and a slide base;
two movable curved covers bolted together with said position rod of said stationary cover, having an pivot base respectively at two ends, and an activating groove in said pivot base of one of said two movable curved covers;
a pressing device set on said projection, having a pressing body that has an activating rod, a supporting post and a fitting groove at the bottom;
said activating rod of said pressing device moving said two movable curved covers to retreat and let open said opening of said stationary cover when said activating rod is pressed, said pressing device pressed to force said activating rod move reversely to force said two movable curved covers to extend out to close up said opening of said stationary cover is said opening of said stationary cover is to be opened after close.

2. The garbage can as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pressing device is composed of said pressing body, an ornamental piece attached on a recess provided in said pressing body and a covering piece inserted in a lower portion of said pressing body.

3. The garbage can as claimed in claim 1, wherein one of said movable curved covers has a locking edge and a stopping surface at its two ends respectively, and the other of said movable curved covers has a locking edge at the top and the bottom of its one side respective for mutual connection to move together.
