1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to portable booth devices and more particularly pertains to a new portable booth device for providing an easily assembled and storable personal dressing room for use along roadways, beaches and other areas where required.
2. Description of the Prior Art
The use of portable booth devices is known in the prior art. U.S. Pat. No. 5,592,961 describes a tubular booth assembly which can be twisted into a compact unit for storage and transportation. Another type of portable booth device is U.S. Pat. No. 4,733,507 having a structure adapted for being used at a polling or voting site. A similar device is found in U.S. Pat. No. 6,021,794 which describes a collapsible shelter assembly such as would be used by a game hunter. Yet another such device is found U.S. Pat. No. 6,178,701.
While these devices fulfill their respective, particular objectives and requirements, the need remains for a device that allows a person adequate room within a housing for the purpose of removing and changing clothes. Additionally, the device should be collapsible into its constituent parts in an efficient manner to make transportation, assembling and storage more simplistic.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a support frame including a rectangular base portion and a rectangular top portion. A plurality of vertical sections is removably attached to and vertically separates the top portion from the base portion. The support frame has a length and width each between 3 feet and 5 feet and a height generally between 6 feet and 8 feet. A support dome is removably positionable on the top portion such that the support dome extends upwardly from the support frame. A flexible covering is removably positionable over the support frame and the support dome. The covering includes a top wall and a peripheral wall that is attached to and extends downwardly from the top wall. The covering has a size such that a bottom edge of the covering is positioned adjacent to and extends along the base portion when the top wall abuts the support dome. The peripheral wall has an opening therein defined by a flap for selectively accessing an interior of the covering.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSThe invention will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
Each of the base 14 and top 16 portions include a plurality of elongated members 20 each having a pair of ends 22. A plurality of couplers 24 each include a pair of horizontal receiving apertures 26 orientated perpendicular with respect to each other and a vertical receiving aperture 28. Each of the ends 22 of the elongated members 20 is removably extended into one of the horizontal receiving apertures 26 so that four elongated members 20 are removably coupled together to form the base portion 14 and four elongated members 20 are removably coupled together to form the top portion 16. Each of the vertical sections 18 has a top end 30 and a bottom end 32. Each of the bottom ends 32 is removably extended into to one of the vertical receiving apertures 28 associated with the bottom portion 14 and each of the top ends 30 is removably extended into one of the vertical receiving members 28 associated with the top portion 16. The couplers 24 each associated with the bottom portion 14 have a leg 34 attached thereto. The legs 34 each extend down from an attached one of the couplers 24. The legs 34 each have a height less than 12 inches and may include a caster 36 attached thereto.
A support dome 38 is removably positionable on the top portion 16 so that the support dome 38 extends upwardly from the support frame 12. The support dome 38 includes a pair of elongated arcuate members 40 each having a pair of free ends 42. The arcuate members 40 are attached together at a central location of each of the arcuate members 40 so that the free ends 42 are generally co-planar with respect to each other and so that the arcuate members 40 are orientated perpendicular to each other. Each of a plurality of brackets 44 is attached to one of the free ends 42 such that each of the free ends 42 has one bracket 44 attached thereto. Each of the brackets 44 is removably couplable to one of the elongated members 20 of the top portion 16.
A flexible covering 46 is removably positionable over the support frame 12 and the support dome 38. The covering 46 includes a top wall 48 and a peripheral wall 50 that is attached to and extends downwardly from the top wall 48. The covering 46 has a size such that a bottom edge 52 of the covering 46 is positioned adjacent to and extends along the base portion 14 when the top wall 48 abuts the support dome 38. The peripheral wall 50 has a flap 54 therein for selectively accessing an interior of the covering 46. The flap 54 has a free upper edge, a free lower edge and a free side edge extending between the free lower and upper edges. The top wall 48 comprises a substantially transparent material and the peripheral wall 50 comprises an opaque material. A securing member 56 is attached to the flap 54 for selectively securing the flap 54 in a closed position. The securing member 56 includes a zipper that is attached to and extends along an edge of the flap 54.
A light emitter 58 is removably attachable to an inner surface of the peripheral wall 50 so that the light emitter 58 is positioned adjacent to the top wall 48. The light emitter 58 preferably comprises a battery operated light. A mirror 60 is removably attachable to the inner surface of the peripheral wall 50. The mirror 60 is positioned adjacent to and below the light emitter 58. The mirror 60 includes a shelf 62 attached to its lower edge. A folding chair 64 includes a backrest 66, seat 68, a pair of front legs 70 and a pair of back legs 72. The folding chair 64 is selectively positionable in a folded position or in an extended position. The folding chair 64 is removably attached to the inner surface of the peripheral wall 50 such that the back legs 72 are positioned adjacent to the bottom edge 52 of the covering 46. Hooks 74 are preferably attached to the inner surface for holding the light emitter 58, mirror 60 and the folding chair 64 to the inner surface. This allows the light emitter 58, mirror 60 and chair 64 to be removed before the covering 46 is taken off of the support frame 12.
At least one air duct 76 is fluidly coupled to the covering 46 and is positioned adjacent to the top wall 48. The air duct 76 allows fresh air to enter the covering while preventing heat from building up in the assembly.
In use, the support frame 12 is assembled in the manner described above and shown in the figures. The covering 46 is then positioned on the support frame 12 to form a dressing room. The transparent top wall 46 allows light to enter the dressing room and the support dome 38 prevents rainwater from accumulating on top of the covering 46. The light emitter 58 and mirror 60 aid person in viewing themselves and their personal articles while the chair 64 provides a place for sitting.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.
