Angle adjustable armrest assembly

An armrest assembly includes an armrest support, a cover plate, a rotation plate, an armrest plate, a positioning block, and a locking barrel. Thus, the armrest plate is rotatable relative to the armrest support to change the angle between the armrest plate and the armrest support so as to change the horizontal swivel angle of the armrest assembly. In addition, the horizontal swivel angle of the armrest assembly is adjusted freely to fit the practical requirement of different users, thereby providing a comfortable sensation to the users.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-4, an armrest assembly in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises an armrest support 1, a cover plate 2 mounted on a top of the armrest support 1 and having a rear end provided with a positioning shaft 21, a rotation plate 3 rotatably mounted on the positioning shaft 21 of the cover plate 2, an armrest plate 6 secured on the rotation plate 3 to rotate relative to the armrest support 1, a positioning block 4 secured on the positioning shaft 21 of the cover plate 2 and having a periphery formed with a plurality of locking grooves 42, a locking barrel 5 secured on the rotation plate 3 to rotate therewith and elastically engaged with the locking grooves 42 of the positioning block 4 to provide a positioning effect to the rotation plate 3 when the armrest plate 6 is rotatable relative to the armrest support 1.

The rotation plate 3 is an elongated plate rested on the cover plate 2 and has a pivot hole 31 pivotally mounted on the positioning shaft 21 of the cover plate 2.

The positioning block 4 is rested on the rotation plate 3 axially and has a shaft hole 41 secured on the positioning shaft 21 of the cover plate 2. The periphery of the positioning block 4 has an arc-shaped face formed with the locking grooves 42.

The locking barrel 5 is a housing to receive the positioning block 4. The locking barrel 5 is combined with the rotation plate 3 co-axially. The locking barrel 5 has an inside formed with at least one receiving recess 51 to receive at least one elastic locking mechanism 52 including a locking tenon 522 detachably locked in either one of the locking grooves 42 of the positioning block 4, and an elastic member 521 biased between the locking barrel 5 and the locking tenon 522 to push the locking tenon 522 toward the locking grooves 42 of the positioning block 4.

A cover 7 is secured on the rear end of the cover plate 2 to encompass the locking barrel 5. The armrest plate 6 is secured on a front end of the rotation plate 3 and is rotatable relative to the cover 7 to change an angle between the armrest plate 6 and the cover 7.

The rotation plate 3 is formed with an arc-shaped guide slot 32, and the armrest assembly further comprises a guide pin 22 secured in a front end of the cover plate 2 and extended through the guide slot 32 of the rotation plate 3, so that guide pin 22 is limited to be slidable in the guide slot 32 of the rotation plate 3 when the rotation plate 3 is rotatable relative to the armrest support 1 to limit the rotation angle of the armrest plate 6.

Referring to FIG. 5, the armrest plate 6 is rotatable relative to the armrest support 1 to change the angle between the armrest plate 6 and the armrest support 1 so as to change the horizontal angle of the armrest assembly.

Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, when the armrest plate 6 is rotatable relative to the cover 7, the locking barrel 5 is rotatable relative to the positioning block 4, and the locking tenon 522 of the elastic locking mechanism 52 is locked in either one of the locking grooves 42 of the positioning block 4 to provide a temporary positioning effect to the locking barrel 5 and the rotation plate 3 when the rotation plate 3 is rotatable relative to the armrest support 1 so that the armrest plate 6 is positioned temporarily after adjustment of the angle between the armrest plate 6 and the armrest support 1.

Accordingly, the armrest plate 6 is rotatable relative to the armrest support 1 to change the angle between the armrest plate 6 and the armrest support 1 so as to change the horizontal swivel angle of the armrest assembly. In addition, the horizontal swivel angle of the armrest assembly is adjusted freely to fit the practical requirement of different users, thereby providing a comfortable sensation to the users.

Referring to FIG. 7, the rotation plate 3 is formed with an arc-shaped guide slot 32 having a side formed with a plurality of positioning grooves 33, and the armrest assembly further comprises an elastic positioning mechanism 8 secured in a front end of the cover plate 2, extended through the guide slot 32 of the rotation plate 3 and detachably positioned in either one of the positioning grooves 33 of the guide slot 32 of the rotation plate 3 to provide a temporary positioning effect to the rotation plate 3 when the rotation plate 3 is rotatable relative to the armrest support 1.

Referring to FIGS. 8 and 9, the armrest assembly further comprises a pad 9 mounted on the front end of the rotation plate 3 and corresponding to the armrest plate 6.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
