Peg babies

Peg Babies is the revision of an article of clothing that has been altered by creating a circular opening or any other design that makes an opening in ones clothing large enough to access a g-tube port from the OUTSIDE of the outfit. The g-tube port which I stated before is the device used to feed people through the stomach who can no longer eat by mouth. It is a unique design because the Port itself is hidden through pockets, designs or whatever means used to cover the circular opening, thereby creating the ILLUSION that the article of clothing does not have an opening at the designated area of the G-tube port, and yet remains an attractive article of clothing.

Description

This invention was designed for individuals with disabilities who require (Gastrointestinal Tubes)/(Peg Tubes) for nourishment. The invention is a opening in the clothing that allows one easy access to the G-Tube Port when feeding a person, and maintains privacy by preventing unnecessary exposure because g-tubes are surgically inserted into the abdomen to the right of the the rib cage and below the belly button.

There is a port with a cap that closes over it's opening so that the formula does not seep back out which can cause wetness and open the door for bacteria and infection.

This invention has many beneficial attributes that have been listed below:

A. allowing families to maintain a social life because they won't feel the need to stay at home due to the feeding schedules most patients have, as well as not having a place to disrobe the person to feed them with an emphasis on the privacy.

B. Having these type of individuals around food and different aromas can help stimulate the sense of taste and smell which some loose due to their illness.

C. This invention is really needed because it allows for convenience and flexibility.

During a scheduled feeding one must get out a can of formula much like a regular baby insert what is called tubing into the end of a syringe and then the other end into the G-tube port which is the size of a small button, pour the formula into a syringe because it is measured and the amount to be given is individualized. formula should be allowed to enter the stomach slowly to prevent vomiting, and gerd.

And it helps to have an individual in an upright position. Most are in wheelchairs when getting ready for Dr's appt's, school, or whatever is scheduled making access to that port from the outside a good thing.

When the feeding is finished you disconnect the tubing from the g-tube port close the cap and continue with your routine.

Though there are thousands of adults and children with g-tubes my invention will be geared toward children ages 0-6. But will also be available for older children and adults.

I have chosen this age frame because nurses like myself who work in schools, clinics, hospitals etc. know first hand the difficulty parents experience in trying to dress, undress, and feed g-tube children. Especially in this world of sexual predators in which we live today.

I have given (4) examples of how this invention works each showing how the opening to the g-tube port offers accessibility, convenience, privacy, and flexibility. And hope that you choose to validate the patent number by which is pending.
