Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention generally relates to wearing apparel. More specifically, the present invention is drawn to a male genital support device.

2. Description of the Related Art

Active males require genitalia support when participating in sports such as basketball, tennis, racquetball and the like. Heretofore, support devices have taken the form of the well known “jockey strap” or jockey-type briefs. When it comes to comfort, both of these commonly used devices leave something to be desired and are tolerated for lack of a more comfortable support device. The art would certainly welcome a device that provides superior support and improved comfort for the male genitalia.

Thus, a genital support device solving the aforementioned problems is desired.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The genital support device is a device for comfortably supporting male genitalia. The device may be incorporated in briefs or may be worn as a separate piece. The device includes a hammock-like structure having pouches to house the testicles therein. A front wall of the structure is V-shaped to allow the penis to be positioned thereover. A soft lining is disposed adjacent the pouches to afford comfortable protection for the scrotum area. Plural straps extend from the hammock for attaching the device to a pair of briefs or to an elastic waistband. A third embodiment of the device employs clip-on members for removably attaching the device to swim trunks, tennis shorts, etc.

Accordingly, the invention presents an improved genital support device that can be comfortably worn by males participating in active sports.

These and other features of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an environmental side view of a first embodiment of a genital support device according to the present invention, partially broken away to show details of the structure.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view a second embodiment of a genital support device according to the present invention.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a third embodiment of genital support device according to the present invention.

Similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the attached drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Attention is directed to FIGS. 1 and 2, wherein the support device of the present invention is generally indicated at 10. Support device 10 comprises an elongate hammock 12 having a first end 14 and a second end 16. Hammock 12 is fashioned with two adjacent pouches 18 designed to house and support male testicles and defines a V-shaped front wall for the penis to extend over. The hammock is essentially fabricated from lightweight mesh material 12a to foster breathability. A soft material 18a is disposed adjacent the pouches 18 to ensure comfort for the wearer's scrotum area. Respective pairs of thin straps 20, 20a are attached to the hammock.

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated in FIG. 1, the distal ends of the straps 20, 20a (only straps 20 are visible in the view of FIG. 1, the straps 20a being symmetrically disposed behind straps 20) are permanently attached to the inside surface of the elastic waistband of a pair of briefs 22. This embodiment permits the consumer to purchase the improved support device and briefs as a complete unit.

In FIG. 2 the distal ends of straps 20, 20a are attached to an elastic waistband 24, sans briefs. The user can wear the support with any briefs and/or shorts.

FIG. 3 discloses a disposable support device 10a wherein clips 26 are provided for the distal ends of the straps 20, 20a. This arrangement permits attachment of the support device to the waistband of any briefs and/or shorts. As contemplated, disposable support device 10a will be completely fabricated from biodegradable material.

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
