Vouch Pouch

The Vouch Pouch is a storage pouch made of any flexible textile. The pouch is sewn together. The interior is made of two parallel compartments which run the length of the pouch. The closure flaps are each constructed in a scalene triangle shape, with the longest side of each flap running the length of the top of the pouch (one along the center material dividing the compartments and one along the back length of the pouch). The angle of the flap with the snap closure closes approximately one inch from the left and right side of the pouch. The flap attached to the divider closes first, snapping closed on the right, then the other folds over it, partially covering the first closure flap, snapping closed on the left and resulting in an inner pouch.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The Vouch Pouch is an accessory device that was conceptualized to address the need for a wallet type pouch with dimensions that specifically accommodate racing vouchers, lottery tickets and other items of similar size. Prior similar accessory items failed to provide the security the Vouch Pouch provides with its unique double flap enclosure, while maintaining light-weight, flexible construction and a mechanism to hang around the wearer's neck or attach.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An accessory device that provides for a secure storage with its double flap enclosure. The clip/loop/strap attachment feature results in hands free convenience, while making the items accessible by virtue of being attached to the outside of clothing or suspended from the neck.

A pouch-like accessory which has dual secure storage compartments which is light-weight and attaches via various methods (clip, loop, strap) for convenience.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The Vouch Pouch is a storage pouch made of any flexible textile (leather, soft plastic, cordura or pleather are examples). (The following dimensions are representative of a sample of the product and address the original intent to provide a storage device with a size appropriate for racing vouchers and lottery tickets; the unique enclosure design can be scaled to varying sizes.) The sample product would be 3 inches high, 4 inches long and ½ inch deep. The pouch is sewn together. The interior is made of two parallel compartments which run the length of the pouch, so that each compartment in this example is 3 inches high by 4 inches long and ¼ inch deep (see FIG. 4 in the attached illustration). The closure flaps are structured in a scalene triangle shape, with the longest side of each flap running the length of the top of the pouch (one along the material dividing the compartments and one along the back length of the pouch). The angle of the flap with the snap closure closes approximately 1 inch from the left and right sides of the pouch (see FIG. 1 in the attached illustration). The flap attached to the divider closes first, snapping closed on the right, then the other folds over it, partially covering the first closure flap, snapping closed on the left and resulting in an inner pouch. (Alternately, instead of using snaps the flaps could close using any other mechanisms, ie, Velcro, zipper, comma, buttons).

The attachment mechanism is attached to the side of the pouch without the snap closures. Depending on the selected mechanism it could be sewn or attached with adhesive.

If a clip is selected, it is secured with an additional piece of textile over one side of the clip, creating a pocket for the clip with a metal stud to secure the clip within that pocket. The clip could be constructed of various material such as nickel, plastic or steel.

If a strap is used, it would be sewn into the inner pouch lining of the Vouch Pouch.

The component that makes the Vouch Pouch unique and addresses the need not met in prior art, is the snap enclosure construction. Specifically, the dual flaps parallel with one of the flaps in part closing over the second flap, creating the inner pouch. This unique enclosure design and dual parallel pouch design combined with the attachment feature can be applied to a larger or smaller scale for uses such as passports, government issued identification or electronic devices (I-pods, PDAs, small cell phones, etc) in the exterior flap, leaving the interior flap for other items. Another factor that makes this invention unique is the combination of the two pouches, enclosure design and attachment feature. It can be made of leather, plastic or other flexible textile.

To use the Vouch Pouch in the sample applications listed in the prior paragraph, the user would place the items to be stored securely in the pouches, putting the items to which the user needs more immediate/frequent access in the back pouch. In the example of the racing voucher, the user places the voucher in the front pouch once the bet is placed in order to securely store it until the winner is announced; during this period, the user would continue to have access to money, debit or credit cards stored in the back pouch without breaching the security of the items in the front pouch, which are still securely held by the second flap.

In the example of use for storage of passport or identification, the user would leave the identification in the first secure pouch while holding more readily necessary items in the second secure pouch.

Claims

1. The scope of patent of this invention is the double flap enclosure resulting in dual pouches, with the flap crossing over one another securely.

2. While previous descriptions reference specific dimensions, this construction can apply to accessory items of various sizes. The scope would cover this design in sizes ranging from the 3 inches high by 4 inches long by ½ inches deep (total: ¼ inch per compartment) to 4 inches high by 6 inches long by ¾ inches deep (total).
