Scent box
A scent box or an airtight enclosure for holding hunting clothes and supplies. The scent box comprises a tub, said tub comprising a tub bottom and four upstanding walls to define an inside; a removable boot holder base disposed adjacent said tub bottom, said removable boot holder base having a boot holder extending upwardly therefrom; a removable platform capable of being disposed in said tub on said removable boot holder base to hold said removable platform upwardly from said tub bottom, said removable platform having aeration apertures and an aperture to receive said boot holder therethrough; and a top capable of securing to said tub to form an airtight seal, said top having a scent absorbing material holder secured to an inside surface, said scent absorbing material holder capable of securing a scent absorbing material therein.
This invention relates to a box to hold clothing and items to reduce the scent of humans and societal or other environmental aromas or scents on clothing and items. More particularly, this invention relates to an airtight box that has scent absorbing material inside the box, to reduce the scent of humans and societal or other environmental aromas or scents such as clothing and items placed within the airtight box.
Deer evade areas if they sense that humans may be, or may have been in the area. Reduction or elimination of the certain scents, as noted above, allows hunters to disguise their presence to deer when hunting. This allows the deer to roam freely as they would if the deer did not detect humans. Which allows the hunters increased access to deer.
Presently hunters wash themselves and their clothing with scent free soap. However the human scent is disseminated into their clothing upon wearing. While hunting overnight the scent remains in the clothing unless washed with some materials. However washing machines are not common fixtures in hunting cabins or tents.
As can be seen, there is a need for an airtight box that can be transported by the hunters to their hunting area, such as a cabin or tent.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn aspect of the present invention comprises a scent box comprising: a tub having a bottom and an upstanding wall extending upwardly from said bottom to define an inside, said upstanding wall terminating at an tub upper lip, said upper lip having an outside ridge; a top having a top inside surface, a seal disposed on said top inside surface whereby said seal capable of forming an airtight seal by contacting said outside ridge when said top is secured to said tub; and a scent removing material holder disposed inside said tub, whereby said scent removing material holder capable of retaining a scent removing material that may reduce the scent of humans from items placed inside the scent box when closed.
Another aspect of the invention is a scent box that comprises a tub, said tub comprising a tub bottom and four upstanding walls to define an inside; a removable boot holder base disposed adjacent said tub bottom, said removable boot holder base having a boot holder extending upwardly therefrom; a removable platform capable of being disposed in said tub on said removable boot holder base to hold said removable platform upwardly from said tub bottom, said removable platform having aeration apertures and an aperture to receive said boot holder therethrough; and a top capable of securing to said tub to form an airtight seal, said top having a scent absorbing material holder secured to an inside surface, said scent absorbing material holder capable of securing a scent absorbing material therein.
These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
In a further exemplary embodiment, as also illustrated in
The top 40 may have a scent absorbing material holder 170 secured to the top inside surface 230. The scent absorbing material holder 170 may have apertures to hold the materials, such as zoelite®, charcoal, carbon, or possibly baking soda.
Other exemplary embodiments of the invention that may not be illustrated in the figures include a mesh pocket 90 that may hold a checklist 100 for the hunter's use to ensure that all desired items are obtained, and if desired—placed in the scent box 20, before the hunting trip, or for the return home. The clear pocket 90 may be removably secured to a tub outside surface 270. The top 30 and tub 40 may each have a lock aperture 120 for receiving a locking member such as a padlock, to lock the tub 30 with the top 40 when the top 40 is hingedly secured to the tub 30 to open and close.
Other exemplary embodiments that may not be illustrated include the tub 30 may be supported by wheels 130 to enable the tub to roll, or be pulled by a pull handle 140. A mat 150 may be supplied as part of the present invention so the hunter can stand on the mat when removing garments.
It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
