A backrest structure of a foldable safety seat includes a backrest, a spindle on both lateral sides of the backrest, a lateral support portion having at least one movable axle at an end of the lateral support portion and coupled to the spindle of the backrest, an axle center on the backrest, a seat portion coupled to the axle center, a shaft on both lateral sides of the seat portion, and a lateral support plate having a movable axle at an end of the lateral support plate and coupled to the seat portion shaft, and the seat portion can be laid flat from the backrest, and the lateral support portion of the backrest and the lateral support plate of the seat portion can be unfolded and fixed to form a child safety seat with protective edges, so as to facilitate the operation, save space and reduce installation and removal time.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a backrest structure of a foldable safety seat, and more particularly to a car safety seat formed by folding a backrest of a car seat that can provide convenient operations, save space, and reduce installation and removal time.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In a traditional child safety seat, the seat is mounted onto the backseat of a car, and an infant is buckled to the safety seat by a three-point contact or five-point contact safety belt to provide better protections to the child. However, the volume of the traditional child safety seat is very large, such that it is very inconvenient to mount/remove the safety seat to/from the backseat of a car. If the safety seat is not in use, it occupies a large storage volume or space. Furthermore, if there are two children who need safety seats in a car, the backseat cannot accommodate an adult to take care of the children.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, it is a primary objective of the present invention to provide a backrest structure of a foldable safety seat, so that a backrest of a car seat can be folded quickly into a child safety seat to achieve the effects of saving space and reducing installation and removal time.

A secondary objective of the present invention is to provide a backrest structure of a foldable safety seat and use a lateral support portion of the backrest and a lateral support plate of the seat portion to protect both lateral sides of the upper and lower bodies of a child in a car.

A further objective of the present invention is to provide a backrest structure of a foldable safety seat, such that a child safety seat can be folded from the backrest of a car seat quickly, without the need of purchasing a child safety seat additionally.

To achieve the foregoing objectives, the present invention provides a backrest structure of a foldable safety seat that comprises:

a backrest, having a spindle installed at both sides of the backrest;

a lateral support portion, having at least one movable axle disposed at an end of the lateral support portion and coupled to the spindle of the backrest;

an axle center, disposed on the backrest;

a seat portion, coupled to the axle center, and having a shaft disposed on both sides of the seat portion; and

a lateral support plate, having at least one movable axle disposed at an end of the lateral support plate and coupled to the seat portion shaft.

With the design of the present invention, the invention can provide convenient operation, save space, reduce installation and removal time, and provide a fully protected child safety seat.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

To make it easier for our examiner to understand the objective of the invention, its structure, innovative features, and performance, we use a preferred embodiment together with the attached drawings for the detailed description of the invention.

Referring to FIGS. 1, 1-1, 1-2, and 2, a backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of the present invention comprises:

a backrest 10, having a spindle 11 disposed on both lateral ends of the backrest 10;

a lateral support portion 12, having at least one movable axle 13 disposed at an end of the lateral support portion 12 and coupled to the spindle 11 of the backrest 10;

an axle center 30, disposed on the backrest 10;

a seat portion 20, coupled to the axle center 30, and having a shaft 21 disposed on both lateral sides of the seat portion 20; and

a lateral support plate 22, having at least one movable axle 23 disposed at an end of the lateral support plate 22 and coupled to the shaft 21 of the seat portion 20.

The spindle 11 of the backrest 10 includes a groove hole 111 and a groove hole 112, and a movable axle 13 of the lateral support portion 12 includes a hole 131, and the movable axle 13 is coupled to a shift rod 14 by a spring 132. The shift rod 14 is installed in the lateral support portion 12, and the shift rod 14 includes one or more insert pin 141 and an end of the shift rod 14 is a fixing end 15.

Further, the shaft 21 of the seat portion 20 includes a groove hole 211 and a groove hole 212, and a movable axle 23 of the lateral support plate 22 includes a hole 231, and the movable axle 23 is coupled to a shift rod 24 by a spring 232; and the shift rod 24 is installed in the lateral support plate 22, and the shift rod 24 includes at least one insert pin 241, and an end of the shift rod 24 is a fixing end 25.

In an embodiment of the present invention, both sides of the axle center 30 include a turning disc 31 for adjusting the angle of the seat portion 20.

In another embodiment of the present invention, a seat cushion 2 is installed at the lower end of the backrest 10, and the seat cushion 2 and the backrest 10 are connected to a knob 3 for adjusting the angle of the seat cushion 2 and backrest 10.

In a preferred embodiment, a headrest 4 is installed at an upper end of the backrest 10.

In a preferred embodiment, a safety belt (not shown in the figure) is installed at a position corresponding to the backrest 10.

Referring to FIGS. 2 to 4 for an application of the present invention, the turning disc 31 is turned backward to lay the seat portion 20 flat horizontally, such that the seat portion 10 and the backrest 10 form an L-shape seat state (as shown in FIG. 3) to define a safety seat for children. After the foregoing state of the seat is defined, the lateral support portions 12 on both lateral sides of the backrest 10 are bent inward, and the lateral support plates 22 on both lateral sides of the seat portion 20 are bent inward, so as to prevent children from sliding to both sides and falling down in a car during their ride.

Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6-2 respectively for the schematic views of bending and fixing the lateral support portion 12 of the backrest 10, it is necessary to pull the shift rod 14 in the lateral support portion 12 outward (as shown in FIGS. 5-1 and 6) before the lateral support portion 12 is bent, so that an insert pin 141 of the shift rod 14 will be separated from the groove hole 111 of the spindle 11 and the hole 131 of the movable axle 13 in a sequence (as shown in FIG. 6-1). By then, the lateral support portion 12 is bent in 90 degrees or any other appropriate angle (as shown in FIGS. 5-2 and 6-1), and after the lateral support portion 12 is bent and fixed, the hole 131 of the movable axle 13 will be aligned with the groove hole 112 of the spindle 11. After the shift rod 14 is released, the resilience of the spring 132 restores the position of the insert pin 141, such that the insert pin 141 is passed into a hole 131 of the movable axle 13 and embedded and fixed into the groove hole 112 of the spindle 11 (as shown in FIG. 6-2), and the lateral support portion 12 can be fixed and will not be shifted or shaken easily. Protective edges are formed on both sides of the backrest 10 for preventing the children's upper bodies in a car from being shifted or the children from falling from the seat during their ride.

Further, the lateral support plate 22 on both sides of the seat portion 20 also can be bent according to the abovementioned method, so that protective edges can be formed on both sides of the seat portion 20 for preventing children in a car from being shifted to the sides or fallen out from their seat. When a child is in a car, both lateral support portions 12 of the backrest 10 and both lateral support plates 22 of the seat portion 20 of the safety seat in accordance with the present invention are bent to form upper and lower protective edges, so that children will not slide sideway or fall out from the seat to enhance the safety of the children in a car, when a turn of the car is made to produce an centrifugal inertia.

Referring to FIGS. 7 and 7-4, the angle of the safety seat of the invention can be adjusted as needed, so as to provide the best and most comfortable ride for children. A knob 3 of the backrest 10 is turned to adjust the angle of leaning the backrest 10 forward to a specific angle (as shown in FIG. 7-1), and a turning disc 31 installed at both sides of the axle center 30 is turned to adjust and lay the seat portion 20 flat in a sitting state, and both lateral support portions 12 of the backrest 10 and both lateral support plates 22 of the seat portion 20 are bent inward to form protective edges and a safety seat with a protecting effect.

In the present invention, the angle of the seat can be adjusted according to the children's age and habits. In general, newborn babies to 10-month old infants are suggested to ride in a laying position, and thus the backrest 10 should be adjusted to move forward as shown in FIG. 7-4, such that the backrest 10 is substantially in a laying position to provide a more comfortable ride for babies and infants.

With the design of the present invention, the backrest 10 can be spread open to form a child safety seat by simple operations, and the present invention can save space in a car and greatly reduce the cost of additionally purchasing and installing a child safety seat. Further, the present invention provides a child safety seat that can save installation and removal time and achieve the effect of providing a perfect protection.

Claims

1. A backrest structure of a foldable safety seat, comprising:

a backrest, having a spindle installed at both lateral sides of said backrest;
a lateral support portion, having at least one movable axle disposed at an end of said lateral support portion and coupled to said spindle of said backrest;
an axle center, disposed on said backrest;
a seat portion, coupled to said axle center, and having a shaft disposed on both lateral sides of said seat portion; and
a lateral support plate, having at least one movable axle disposed at an end of said lateral support plate and coupled to said seat portion shaft.

2. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said backrest spindle comprises a plurality of groove holes.

3. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said movable axle of said lateral support portion comprises a hole.

4. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said movable axle is coupled to a shift rod by a spring, and said shift rod is installed in said lateral support portion, and said shift rod comprises at least one insert pin, and an end of said shift rod is a fixing end.

5. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said seat portion shaft comprises a plurality of groove holes.

6. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said movable axle of said lateral support plate comprises a hole.

7. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said movable axle is coupled to a shift rod by a spring, and said shift rod is installed in said lateral support plate, and said shift rod comprises at least one insert pin, and an end of said shift rod is a fixing end.

8. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said backrest comprises a seat cushion installed at a lower end of said backrest and coupled to a knob at said backrest for adjusting the angle of said seat cushion and said backrest.

9. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said backrest comprises a headrest disposed at an upper end of said backrest.

10. The backrest structure of a foldable safety seat of claim 1, wherein said backrest comprises a safety belt disposed at an appropriate corresponding position.
