Portable wash basin
A portable wash basin designed for children 3 years and up. Said apparatus can be connected to sink and pedestal lavatories with functional plumbing features and include a concealed interior removable water reservoir container for temporarily holding of used, dirty or soapy excess water, which can be locked for child safety. The apparatus is equipped with a pull out adjustable towel rack on the pedestal and built in pull out step underneath the pedestal. Said apparatus is designed with a storage compartment for placing dry clean hand towels, first aid kit or other items. Safety latches are located on the mobility apparatus to prevent the wash hand basin from moving while child performs hygiene routine. The portable wash basin can be used indoors or outdoors and incorporate various designs for commercial use in public places.
1. Field of the Invention
As children continue to grow and develop learning skills it is extremely important to teach them about proper hygiene and growth development. Although there are books and magazines that instruct parents and guardians on raising children, there should also be devices to help children understand these important developmental characteristics at early ages.
Children can sometimes face difficulties in using devices that are made for adults. For example, these devices can be too big for the children in height, width or volume. Such disadvantages in uses for the children can result in several safety hazards. Children face the risks of hurting themselves by climbing, leaning, or pulling on such devices that are intended for adult use only. In order to provide a safe environment for children to develop their proper hygiene and growth developments, the inventors are proposing the portable wash basin for children 3 years and up.
2. Description of the Prior Art
The inventors have done in depth research on the subject matter and they believe that there is no device on the market that exists for correcting the above problems that children face during their growth development stages. Although the idea of sink and pedestal lavatories are very well known, there are essential features of the inventors' proposed invention that are not disclosed in the prior art.
Various prior arts are design patents, and thus solely protect the ornamental design and are not suitable for children due to their tall heights and wide shapes. Other prior art teach towards cabinet coverings for lavatory pipes, but do not incorporate cabinet storages for dry, clean hand towels or other items. Although a few prior art anticipate sink and lavatory pedestals none have a design that incorporates pull out adjustable steps for child usage.
It is quite obvious that the prior art lacks several safety features as well as functions that are included in the portable wash basin. Thus the portable wash basin is a useful, novel device and non-obvious whereby correcting the above problems for children during their early development stages.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe preferred embodiment teaches towards a portable wash basin designed for children ages 3 and up. Said apparatus is a sink and pedestal lavatory that can be connected to a larger sink with plumbing features for a source of clean running water. A sink and pedestal lavatory has the capacity to include several designs but its function remains the same. The proposed invention is portable and can be used indoors or outdoors. The interior of the lavatory pedestal is hollow to accommodate an inner removable water reservoir cabinet for temporarily holding the excess water that comes out of the pipe/valve/tube that is connected to a larger sink with plumbing features. The removable water reservoir incorporates a door safety lock to protect the child from gaining access to the excess dirty soapy water. The removable water reservoir also temporarily holds the excess dirty soapy water so that it can be discarded into the larger sink with plumbing features, a toilet or outdoors. The proposed invention includes a storage compartment for keeping dry clean hand towels, first aid kit or other items. The portable wash basin can have several designs further including two sinks and lavatory pedestals that are manufactured side by side horizontally or back to back. It can be used commercially, a device of three or four portable wash basins which connect in a circular design. The sink and lavatory pedestal is also equipped with a pull out and adjustable towel rack located on the pedestal of said apparatus. The proposed invention can also include built in pull out step underneath the lavatory pedestal for height assistance. The portable wash basin is equipped with safety latches on the wheel of said apparatus in order to keep said apparatus in place while the child performs their hygiene routine.
