Sock donning device

The invention represents a sock donning device that allows it to bend around the foot the components of the device, making it fit to the individuals foot.

Description

The device is to be die cut from a sheet or roll of approximate 0.035 polyethylene plastic. It is of single unit construction, consisting of a 4 inch wide by 26½ inch long handle just above the two wings. The handle is to have a 1 or 1¼ inch by 2 inch slit, located across the 4 inch direction at the end for grip. Each wing is to extend 2 inches out from handle and continue down about 4 inches gradually curving back 2 inches of the 4 inch portion to the main body. A ¼ inch rounding should be at each joint and squared edge for resisting tearing and injury to user. At the top of the wing place a ¼ inch dip going out from the handle part. It's function is to act as a hook for retaining the sock. Another extension (or horn) continues down from the wings 4 inches wide by 10½ inches long which is rounded on the far end. Since people have different bodies, to accommodate sizes the above is basic design of one of those sizes that are needed. Also the users may trim the device, with scissors, to further accommodate their needs.

The following is the use of the device. The two wings hold open the sock at the mouth (or opening) of the sock, while the horn or rounded extended area retains the remainder of the sock. The user then inserts their foot into the sock up to the instep and pulls it, via the handle, upward over heal and calf.

Claims

1. A sock donning device to aid individuals slipping on their socks or hose constructed of a sturdy flexible sheet material comprised of a handle with two knockouts for grips and two wings to retain and hold open the sock and a horn all to allow an individual to slip on a sock with out help from another individual.
