Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a chair frame for a folding chair, and more particularly to a frame for a folding chair, wherein the length of the frame can be substantially reduced after the folding chair is folded.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a conventional folding chair frame 1 generally comprises two leg units 11 and a seat support member 12. The two leg units 11 are crossed pivotally in a scissor-like configuration and can be folded into a “U” shaped configuration. The seat support member 12 is a closed frame assembled to the upper ends of the two leg units 11 and can be folded and unfolded along with the two leg units 11. However, the seat support member 12 is fixed in size and the length of the seat support member 12 is greater than that of the leg units 11, so that the length of the folding chair frame will not become smaller after the folding chair frame is folded (as shown in FIG. 3), and this will cause waste in package material and incontinences in transportation.

The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a chair frame for a folding chair, wherein the length of the frame can be substantially reduced after the folding chair is folded.

A chair frame for a folding chair in accordance with the present invention comprises at least two leg units and a seat support frame pivotally connected to an upper end of the two leg units. The seat support frame includes a first portion and a second portion, both free ends of the first portion and the second portions of the seat support frame are adjustably connected in such a manner that the first portion and the second portion can be adjusted to approach or move away from each other.

The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, which show, for purpose of illustrations only, the preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows a conventional folding chair frame;

FIG. 2 is a side view of the conventional folding chair frame;

FIG. 3 is an illustrative view of showing the conventional folding chair frame after it is folded;

FIG. 4 is perspective view of a frame of a folding chair in accordance with the present invention;

FIG. 5 is a side view of the frame of a folding chair in accordance with the present invention;

FIG. 6 is an enlarged view of part C of FIG. 5; and

FIG. 7 is an illustrative view of showing the folding chair frame of the present invention after it is folded.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 4-6, a chair frame of a folding chair in accordance with the present invention is shown and comprises at least two leg units 2 and 3 and a seat support frame 4 that is pivotally connected to the upper end of the two leg units 2 and 3.

The two leg units 2 and 3 are pivotally cross connected and can be folded into a U-shaped structure.

The seat support frame 4 includes a first portion 41 and a second portion 42. In two free ends of the first portion 41 is inserted a sleeve 411 whose diameter is smaller than the first portion 41, the sleeve 411 is axially defined with a through hole 412, and the first portion 41 of the seat support frame 4 is pivotally connected to one of the two leg units 2 through a positioning member 413. The positioning member 413 includes a ring 4131 slidably mounted on the upper end of the leg unit 2, on a side of the ring 4131 is formed an ear 4132 to be pivotally connected to the first portion 41 of the seat support frame 4, and in the ring 4131 is disposed a locking member 4133 that can be elastically retracted into the ring 4131 or can be engaged in the leg unit 2. The second portion 42 has two hollow free ends for insertion of the sleeves 411 of the first portion 41. In both free ends of the second portion 42 is inserted an end of a stem 421, and another end of the stem 421 is slidably inserted in the through hole 412 of the first portion 411. By such arrangements, both free ends of the first and second portions 41, 42 of the seat support frame 42 are adjustably connected in such a manner that the first portion 41 and the second portion 42 can be adjusted to approach or move away from each other, that is, the length of the seat support frame 4 can be adjusted.

When folding the chair, the user should press the locking member 4133 into the ring 4131, pushing the first portion 41 toward the second portion 42, and thus the length of the seat support frame 4 can be reduced substantially (as shown in FIG. 7).

The characteristics of the present invention are as follows:

1. the two portions of the folding chair frame can be adjusted to approach or move away from each other, so that the length of the folding chair frame can be substantially reduced after the chair is folded.

2. The frame of the folding chair of the present invention is simply structured and easily operated.

While we have shown and described various embodiments in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
