Locking mechanism for use with ratchet or cog strap

THE LOCKING MECHANISM FOR USE WITH RATCHET OR COG STRAP: Is used by pulling the strap through the locking mechanism until tight. To release the locked strap a key is required. The mechanism and strap can be made to required size. The mechanism and strap can be made from many different types of material, metal, PVC etc.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The primary purpose of the locking mechanism for use with ratchet or cog strap is to hold devices to the human body. This type of strap and locking mechanism make for a strong and secure hold on the wrist or ankle. This device can be applied and released quickly by one person. The strap is fed in to one side and tightens as it is pulled through the locking mechanism, to release the strap a key is required to turn the release of the locking mechanism. Devices can be attached to the locking mechanism. The attached devices may include the Stun-Cuff for use by law enforcement for prisoner control, or home monitoring ankle bracelets, and for GPS tracking devices on sexual criminals etc.

The strap can be made of high strength, light weight PVC, Nylon or a combination of both and other materials. The locking mechanism is light weight and made from metal and PVC.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

The Locking Mechanism For Use With Ratchet or Cog Strap. When attached to a Stun-Cuff, Home Monitoring device or GPS. Is a fast and effective means of locking a device on a persons wrist or ankle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The Ratchet or Cog Strap of the locking mechanism is affixed by a pin located on the housing of the locking mechanism and through a hole at one end of the strap. The other end of the strap is pushed through the locking mechanism. As the strap passes through the housing of the locking mechanism the strap feeds under a metal ratchet plate that is held down from the pressure of the release bar. The metal ratchet plate prevents the strap from being pulled back until the key is turned releasing the strap. located on the end of the key shaft is a cam that when turned spins the ratchet release bar head which holds down the ratchet plate. Thereby allowing the ratchet plate to lift releasing the locking strap. The bottom side of the housing of the locking mechanism has a slight curve that forms to a human wrist or ankle. On the top of the locking mechanism housing, devices can be attached or it can become part of the device body.

Claims

1. The LOCKING MECHANISM FOR USE WITH RATCHET OR COG STRAP is used to lock or secure items to the human wrist or ankle.

2. The locking mechanism of claim 1. can be attached to other devices to lock or secure them to the human wrist or ankle.

3. The locking device of claim 1. has a strap attached that wraps around the wrist or ankle locking the desired object to the human wrist or ankle.

4. The strap of claim 3. is a ratchet or cog style.

5. The strap of claim 4. can be made to different lengths.

6. The strap of claim 4. can be made to different widths.

7. The strap of claim 3. can be made of different materials.

8. The locking mechanism of claim 1. uses a key to unlock the strap of claim 3.
