CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This non-provisional application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119(a) on Patent Application No(s). 094222985 filed in Taiwan, R.O.C. on Dec. 29, 2006, the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a golf club head, and more particularly, to a golf club head for providing an optimal vibration damping effect and having a structure of fixing weighted parties.

2. Related Art

In order to enable golf club heads to achieve the most preferred striking effect, weighted structures are generally disposed at the bottom of the club head to make the gravity center of the club head move downwards, which increases the striker's stability in swinging, helps the striker to effectively strike the ball, so as to increase the flying distance of the ball and make the ball fall at a predetermined position. Therefore, the design of the weighted structure for the club is an extremely important factor for determining the quality of the golf club and the striking score of the striker.

Recently, the commonly used club head has an arc-shaped club head body fixed with the club holder, and the club head body is hollow and has a striking face at the front end portion, which is a ramp. There are two types of weighted structures: the first one is that a weighted block made of a material heavier than that of the club head body is fastened on the back end of the club head body; and the other one is that the weighted block is inlaid on the bottom surface of the club head body.

Furthermore, as for the above weighted structure of the club head, the weighted block is fastened on the back end or on the bottom surface of the club head from the exterior, and only the weighted block made of a single material is used. The vibration damping capability of the weighted block made of a single material is not desired, and it is also impossible to provide sufficient vibration damping effect to absorb the vibration generated when striking the ball. On the other hand, the fastening manner generally includes screw locking, adhering, or welding. When striking, the club is affected by the counteracting force, and vibration occurs for the club head body, and due to the different materials used by the weighted block and the club head body, their conductivities for the vibration wave are different, and thus, when the vibration wave passes between the weighted block and the club head body, a shearing force is generated on the joining part there-between. Therefore, after the club has been used for a long time, the weighted block is easily loosen and fallen off from the club head body, so that the club is damaged, and the service life of the club is reduced.

Therefore, the conventional weighted structure of the golf club head is directly fastened on the back end or lightly inlaid on the bottom of the club head body, which has the disadvantage that the weighted effect for the club head is limited, so the gravity center cannot be effectively moved downwards, and meanwhile, the optimal striking position is limited in a relatively small scope. Therefore, it is an important issue for research and development in this field to redesign a golf club head having a structure of fixing weight body and a two-stacked weighted part structure, for providing preferred vibration damping function for the user.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Firstly, referring to FIGS. 1, 2, and 3, the present invention provides a golf club head with dual weighted parties having fixing structure. The golf club head 1 includes a body 10, a first weighted part 20, and a second weighted part 30. Furthermore, the body 10 of the golf club head 1 has a step-shaped cavity 11 and a snapping portion 12 formed at the bottom of one side surface. The first weighted part 20 has a protruded fastening portion 21 with a width being smaller than that of the first weighted part 20. The fastening portion 21 forms a step-like configuration with the first weighted part 20 that is fastened in the cavity 11 of the body 10. The second weighted part 30 has two fixing portions 31 on side of its two ends and has a depressed joining portion 32 at the bottom part. The fixing portions 31 are snapped into the snapping portion 12 of the body 10, and the joining portion 32 is embedded in the fastening portion 21 of the first weighted part 20, so that the joining portion 32 of the second weighted part 30 wraps the fastening portion 21 of the first weighted part 20, and thereby fixing both the first weighted part 20 and the second weighted part 30 in the body 10 of the golf club head 1.

Moreover, referring to FIGS. 4, 5, and 6, the present invention provides a golf club head with dual weighted parties having fixing structure. Another configuration of the golf club head 1′ similarly includes a body 10, a first weighted part 20, and a second weighted part 30. Furthermore, the body 10 of the golf club head 1′ has a step-shaped cavity 11 and a snapping portion 12 formed at the bottom of one side surface. The first weighted part 20 has a protruded fastening portion 21 with a width being smaller than that of the first weighted part 20. The fastening portion 21 forms a step-like configuration with the first weighted part 20 and further has a groove 211, and the first weighted part 20 is fastened in the cavity 11 of the body 10. The second weighted part 30 has two fixing portions 31 on side of its two ends and has a depressed joining portion 32 at the bottom part, and further has a protruded rib 321. When the fixing portions 31 are snapped into the snapping portion 12 of the body 10, the joining portion 32 and the rib 321 are respectively embedded and inserted in the fastening portion 21 and the groove 211 of the first weighted part 20, so as to fix both the first weighted part 20 and the second weighted part 30 in the body 10 of the golf club head 1, and thus the joining portion 32 of the second weighted part 30 wraps the fastening portion 21 of the first weighted part 20.

The present invention provides a golf club head with dual weighted parties having fixing structure. Referring to FIGS. 2 and 5, the second weighted part 30 of the golf club head 1, 1′ is approximately V-shaped, and the fixing portion 31 of the second weighted part 30 is approximately L-shaped. Furthermore, the material of the first weighted part 20 of the golf club head 1, 1′ is a high specific gravity material, and the material of the second weighted part 30 of the golf club head 1, 1′ is a low specific gravity material. In addition, the high specific gravity material is a metal alloy or a composite material of metal and plasticized material; and the low specific gravity material is a polymer material or a plastic material.

The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
