Post and rod linking device for a railing

A post and rod linking device for a railing includes a lateral rod, a post and a U-shaped elastic member. The elastic member is deposited in each of two ends of the lateral rod, having a protrusion respectively on two ends. The protrusion faces and exposes out of a hole of the lateral rod by the elastic member, The post has an insert hole for each end of the lateral rod to fit there in, with the protrusions of the elastic member pressed inward and extending out of the holes after the lateral rod is inserted in the hole of the post and stopped by the post wall so that the lateral rod is linked with the post immovable. The end of the lateral rod has a recess, which has a vertical surface, and the distance between the vertical surface and the protrusion is equal to the thickness of the post wall so the post wall is clamped by the elastic member to stabilize the linking of the post with the lateral rod.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a post and rod linking device for a railing, particularly to one quite easily handled for linking posts with rods with no linking components exposed out.

2. Description of the Prior Art

In linking posts with rods of a railing, conventionally screws or bolts are used for linking posts with rods, requiring much time for tightening fastening members such as screws or bolts, and moreover, the two ends of the fastening members are always exposed out, not decent to be looked at.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This invention has been devised to offer a post and rod linking device for a railing so as to easily and quickly link posts and rods for a railing.

The feature of the invention is a lateral rod of railing rods having its two ends provided with a U-shaped elastic member, and the U-shaped elastic member has a round projection respectively on an outer side of two ends. The lateral rod is provided with a hole in an upper and a lower wall corresponding to the round projections, so the round projections may fit in and expose out of the holes by the outward elasticity of the U-shaped elastic member. The lateral rod is further provided with a recess in the bottom wall below the hole, and there is a certain distance between a vertical surface of the recess and the round protrusion. The post is provided with an insert hole in a side facing an end of the lateral rod, with the insert hole having an inner size equal to the an outer size of the lateral rod, so the end of the lateral rod may fit in the insert hole of the post, with the round protrusions pressed inward. After the end of the lateral rod is inserted in the post, the U-shaped elastic member may automatically push the round protrusions outward to let them located stably stopped by the vertical wall of the post. Thus the lateral rod is finished linked with the post, with the distance between the vertical surface of the recess of the lateral rod and the protrusion being equal to the thickness of the wall of the post, so the U-shaped elastic member tightly clamps the wall of the post stably.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a railing with a post and rod linking device in the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a magnified cross-sectional view of a part marked with a circle in FIG. 1

FIG. 3 is a magnified perspective view of the part marked with the circle in FIG. 1;

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a post and rod linking device not yet linking a post with a lateral rod in the present invention;

FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of a protrusion of a U-shaped elastic member pressed in the lateral rod in the present invention;

FIG. 6 is an upside cross-sectional view of the protrusion of the elastic member exposing out to be stopped by the vertical wall of the post in the present invention, showing the post linked with the lateral rod; and,

FIG. 7 is a side cross-sectional view of the post linked with the lateral rod in the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A preferred embodiment of a post and rod linking device for a railing in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, includes a lateral rod 10 of railing rods 1, two posts 2 at two sides of the lateral rod 10, a U-shaped elastic member 11 deposited respectively in two ends of the lateral rod 10.

The U-shaped elastic member 11 is provided with a round protrusion 12 respectively on an outer side of two ends

The lateral rod 10 is provided with a hole 13 respectively near the two ends to correspond to the round protrusion 12 of the U-shaped elastic member 11 so that the round protrusions may expose out of the lateral rod 12 pushed by the elasticity of the U-shaped elastic member 11. Further, the lateral rod 10 is provided with a recess 14 in a bottom wall of the two ends, and there is a distance (A) between a vertical surface 141 defining the recess 14 and the protrusion 12, as shown in FIG. 3.

The post 2 is provided with an insert hole 21 in a side facing each end of the lateral rod 10, with the insert hole 21 having an inner size being equal to an outer size of the lateral rod 11, so the ends of the lateral rod 10 may insert in the insert holes 21 of the post 2.

In linking the lateral rod 10 with the post 2, referring to FIGS. 4, 5, 6 and 7, the two protrusions 12 of the U-shaped elastic member 11 are pressed inward, letting one end of the lateral rod 10 shift in the insert hole 21 of the post 2. Then the U-shaped elastic member may automatically expand elastically, forcing the two protrusions 12 rise upward to expose out of the holes 13 and be stopped by the vertical wall of the post 2, keeping the lateral rod 10 from slipping off the post 2. In addition, the distance between the vertical surface 141 of the lateral rod 10 and the round protrusion 12 is equal to the thickness of the wall of the post 2, so the post 2 is clamped stably by the U-shaped elastic member 11, as shown in FIG. 7. Thus handling of the post and rod linking device for a railing in the invention is very simple and quick.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
