Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a work glove system, which includes a towel member, which may be secured and removably attached to a work glove. The work glove system enables a user to have readily available towel member, by removably attaching it to a work glove, for various uses, such as, cleaning, wiping perspiration, etc.

The present invention pertains to an all-purpose glove which is adapted to having a towel member or other textile member adhesively attached to either the palmar segment of the glove or the dorsal segment of the glove.

The present invention further relates to a glove which may be worn on the right hand or left hand of a user which includes the towel member or other type textile member coupled to the palmar or dorsal segment of the glove. 2. Description of the Prior Art

Gloves of various kinds, such as mittens, muffs, sports gloves are well-known in the art and readily available to users. They are used, in most instances, to protect the hand from harmful elements, such as, cold weather, harmful working conditions (gardening, construction, etc.). Gloves are used to encompass the hand of a use and in most instances have separate portions for the digits of a user's hand.

One problem associated with conventional gloves is their limited use. For example, a user with a conventional glove that requires a towel to either clean with or wipe perspiration has to carry the towel separately or obtain such an element when required.

Another problem associated with conventional gloves is that such well-known gloves can only be worn on a specific hand of a user. Specifically, conventional gloves are not known to be interchangeable and therefore worn on either the left or right hand of a user.

Yet another problem associated with conventional gloves, is that the gloves that do incorporate cloth members into the glove incorporate such member with a smaller surface area than the segment of the glove to which they are attached.

The best prior art known to Applicant includes U.S. Pat. Nos. 3,885,249; 5,956,770; 5,706,521; 6,280,529; 4,843,652; 5,003,637; 4,244,057; 2,651,071; 3,056,154; 2,432,325; 1,426,797; 6,275,995; 1,882,588 and Patent Application Publication 2003/0145873.

Prior art systems such as that shown in U.S. Pat. No. 4,843,652 direct themselves to overlying materials in the pattern of the glove and are affixed thereto. Such systems do not provide for the removability of a towel member which extends from the glove and is contoured in a shape of a towel.

Prior art systems such as that shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,885,249 direct themselves to working gloves which have removable burring elements attached to the glove surfaces. However, such prior art systems do not provide for a towel member having a greater surface area of the glove dorsal segment.

Other prior art systems such as that shown in U.S. Pat. No. 5,956,770 provide for glove shaped releasable elements attachable to the glove. However, such prior art systems do not provide for a towel like contour element attachable to only a segment of the surface area of the glove.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1-7, generally what is shown is a work glove system 2. The work glove system 2 comprises a work glove 10 and a towel member 26. The work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 fits onto a user's hand. The towel member 26 has a surface area larger than any segment of the work glove 10 to which it is attached. Additionally, the towel member 26 of the work glove system 2 is either removably or fixedly attached to the work glove 10. As will be detailed in the following paragraphs, the towel member 26 can also be fixedly attached by a first towel edge section 34 to the work glove 10 and releasably attachable by a second towel edge section 36 to the work glove 10. A user can utilize the towel member of the work glove system 10 in any manner such as, for cleaning, to wipe perspiration, etc. The work glove system 2 allows a user to utilize the towel member 26 by securing it to the work glove 10. In this manner, the work glove system 2 conveniently and effectively incorporates a towel member 26 that can be used by user, as mentioned, to clean with, wipe perspiration, etc. or any other use desired by a user.

Referring again to FIGS. 1-7, as described, the work glove system 2 comprises a work glove 10 having at least one finger portion 12 extending from a body section 14 of the work glove 10. The finger portions 12 extending from the body section 14 of the glove 10 are designed to receive (and encompass) fingers of a user's hand. The finger portions 12 extending from the body section 14 of the glove 10 define fingertip portions 16. The fingertip portions 16 defined by the finger portions 12 extending from body section 14 of the glove 10 receive (and encompass) tips of a user's fingers.

As detailed above, the work glove 10 has at least one finger portion 12 extending from the body section 14. If only one finger portion 12 exists, the work glove system 2 will be one in which the work glove 10 resembles a conventional and well-known mitten. If there are multiple finger portions 12 (adapted to receive all of the digits of a user's hand) the work glove system 2 will be one in which the work glove 10 resembles a conventional well-known hand glove. The work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 can be any type of glove such as a batting glove, golf glove, tennis glove, racquetball glove, handball glove, etc.

The work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 will be made of a cloth material that is flexible and durable. However, the work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 can be made of any material suitable to be worn by a user and the material chosen is not important to the inventive concept of the subject Patent Applicant.

The work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 will be one that can be interchangeable or worn on either the right or left hand of a user. In this manner, the work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 will be universal and can be worn by a user that is either right-handed or left-handed.

The work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 can be manufactured in various sizes to fit in differing sizes of various users' hands. The size of the actual work glove 10 is not important to the inventive concept except for the relationship between the towel member 26 (actual surface area of the towel member 26) and the various segments of the body section 14 as will be detailed in the following paragraphs.

The body section 14 defines a palmar segment 18, a dorsal segment 20 and a wrist segment 22, as shown in FIGS. 2-6. The palmar segment 18 of the body section 14 of the glove 10 fits near to a user's palm. The dorsal segment 20 of the body section 14 of the glove 10 fits near to a side opposite a user's palm, or the back of a user's hand. The wrist segment 22 of the body section 14 of the glove 10 fits near a wrist of a user.

In this manner, the body section 14 of the work glove 10 is comprised of the palmar segment 18, a dorsal segment 20, and the wrist segment 22. As detailed above, the towel member 26 will have a surface area that is larger than any single individual segment (either the palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22).

Referring to FIGS. 2, 4 and 5, the work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 includes glove securing patches disposed on various locations of the work glove 10. There is a first plurality of glove securing patches 24 that are secured to the dorsal segment 20 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. The first plurality of glove securing patches 24 attached to the dorsal segment 20 are secured to the work glove 10 by a variety of methods, such as, sewing, adhesive or integrally forming patches 24 to the glove 10 during fabrication. The first plurality of securing patches 24 are attached to the dorsal segment 20 in a manner in which they are fixedly secured to the work glove 10. Similarly, any glove securing patches will be fixed directly to the work glove 10.

The preferred method will be to have the first plurality of glove securing patches 24 incorporated within the dorsal segment 20 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 during manufacturing of the work glove 10. The first plurality of glove securing patches 24 can be in any number and in any type of orientation as long as such are secured to the dorsal segment 20 of the work glove 10. As will be detailed in the following paragraphs, the first plurality of glove securing patches 24 on the dorsal segment 20 are adapted to be coupled to the towel member 26.

As briefly detailed above and as shown in FIG. 2, the towel member 26 of the work glove system 2, in one embodiment, is removably attachable to the work glove 10. The towel member 26 can be of any shape but will have a surface area larger than any individual segment (palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22) of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 to which it is removably attached. For example, in a preferred embodiment, the towel member 26 will be removably attached to the dorsal segment 20 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 and will have a surface area larger than that of the dorsal segment 20.

The concept of the towel member 26 having a greater surface area than any individual segment of the body section 14 is of importance since the large surface area of the towel member 26 provides the user with the ability of possibly using his or her other hand (the hand without the glove) to grasp an end of the towel member 26 to permit added flexibility of use of the towel member 26 on a surface cleanup or even to wipe various areas of the user's body. The increased area of the towel member further provides an additional absorbency area which may be highly advantageous.

The towel member 26 can be made of a variety of materials, such as, cotton or terry cloth depending upon the use of the towel member 26 of the work glove system 2 based on a user. For example, the towel member 26 can be of various colors or as mentioned various types of fabric or could have one type of fabric such as cotton at a first towel edge section 34 and a second type of material such as chamois at a second towel edge section 36. Such is dependent upon the taste and desired use of a user of the work glove system 2.

Referring again to FIG. 2, the towel member 26 includes at least one towel member securing patch 28 that is attached to a corresponding glove securing patch 24 for removable attachment of the towel member 26 to the work glove 10. As described, the towel member 26 will have a surface area that is larger than any surface area of any segment (palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22) of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 to which it is attached. The towel member securing patch 28 will be positioned on the towel member 26 at a first towel edge section 34 thereon. In this manner, the first towel edge section 34 of the towel member 26 will be attached (removably attached in a preferred embodiment as detailed above) to a segment of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. Therefore, the towel member securing patch 28 on the first towel edge section 34 of the towel member 26 corresponds to the glove securing patch 24 for securing the towel member 26 to the dorsal segment 20 of the work glove 10.

The towel member 26 has a second towel edge section 36, as shown in FIGS. 2-4 and 6, that is opposite the first edge section 34 and can either; (1) be free or unattached to the work glove 10 or (2) be attached (releasably or fixed) to any segment (palmer segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22) of the body section 14 of the work glove 10.

Since the towel member 26 has a larger surface area than any segment of the body section 14 of the work glove 10, it is attachable to the work glove 10 in a manner in which one towel edge section 34 or 36 (depending on which towel edge section 34 or 36 is attached to the work glove 10) is free from the work glove 10, as shown in FIG. 3. In other words, another towel edge section 34 or 36 will hang from the work glove 10, while it is still attached at the first towel edge section 34 to a segment of the body section 14 (a specific glove securing patch) of the work glove 10. Also, the towel member 26 can be oriented in a manner in which the first towel edge section 34 is attached to one segment (palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22) and the second towel edge section 36 is attached to another segment (palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22, to which the first towel edge section 34 is not attached) as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. In this manner, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the towel member 26 can be wrapped around the work glove 10.

The towel member 26 is attached to the work glove 10, as shown in FIGS. 1-6, in a manner in which the towel member 26 does not adversely affect the mobility of a user's hand. Furthermore, the work glove system 2 will not inhibit the mobility of a user's fingers when received within the finger portions of the work glove 10.

In another embodiment as shown in FIG. 7, the towel member 26 will have at least one removable towel sheet member 26′ overlying the towel member 26. The removable towel sheet member 26′ will be adhesively coupled to the towel member 26. In this manner, a user can use at least one removable towel sheet member 26′ and remove such when necessary and have either another removable towel sheet member 26′ or the towel member 26 to utilize. This will allow the work glove system 2 to include a towel member 26 that does not need frequent replacement. Preferably, the towel member 26 will have a plurality of removable towel sheet members 26′, as shown in FIG. 7. The plurality of removable towel sheet members 26′ will be removably and adhesively coupled each to the other and at least one of the towel sheet members 26′ will be coupled to the towel members 26.

The removable towel sheet members 26′ will be adhesively coupled to the towel member 26 in any manner in which the towel sheet members 26′ can be removed and reattached as desired by a user of the work glove system 2. The method of coupling of each removable towel sheet member 26′ each to the other is not important except for the fact that such must be removable and adhesively attachable.

As described above and as shown in FIG. 2, the dorsal segment 20 includes a first plurality of securing patches 24. The first plurality of glove securing patches 24 themselves will be of the type to secure the towel member 26. For example, the securing patches 24 could be an adhesive material, the type of which can adhere the towel member 26 (at the towel member 26 towel securing patch 28). In a preferred embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2, the securing patches 24 will be glove hook and loop patches 30. The glove hook and loop patches 30 may be of the type commonly known by the trademark name Velcro®.

The glove hook and loop patches are releasably coupleable to the towel member 26 at the towel securing patch 28. Therefore, in the preferred embodiment, the towel securing patch 28 will be towel hook and loop patches 32, also known by the trademark name Velcro®. Thus, the glove hook and loop patches 30 on the dorsal segment 20 will removably attach towel hook and loop patches 30 on the towel member 26. The type of glove securing patches will always correspond and be the same as the towel securing patches 28. If glove securing patches are glove hook and loop patches (as in the preferred embodiment and as shown in FIG. 2) then the towel securing patches 28 will be towel hook and loop patches 32. If the glove securing patches 24 are some other adhesive or securement means, the towel securing patches 28 will be the same such that the two (glove securing patches 24 and towel securing patches 28) can be removably coupled each to the other.

The work glove 10 of the work glove system 2, as shown in FIG. 4, includes a second plurality of glove securing patches 24′ secured to the palmar segment 18 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. The second plurality of securing patches 24′ attached to the palmar segment 18 can be secured to the work glove 10 by any means, such as, sewing, by an adhesive or direct manufacturing within the work glove 10 so long as the second plurality of securing patches 24′ are fixedly attached to the work glove 10.

The preferred method will be to have the second plurality of securing patches 24′ manufactured directly within the palmar segment 18 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. The second plurality of glove securing patches 24′ can be in any number and in any type of orientation as long as such are secured to the palmar segment 18 of the work glove 10. The second plurality of glove securing patches 24′ on the palmar segment 18 are adapted to attach either the first towel edge section 34 and/or the second towel edge section 36 of the towel member 26 (by coupling with the towel securing patch 28).

Referring to FIGS. 2, 4 and 5, the work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 includes a third plurality of glove securing patches 24″ secured to the wrist segment 22 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. The third plurality of securing patches 24″ attached to the wrist segment 22 can be secured to the work glove 10 by any means, such as sewing, by an adhesive or integrally fabricated within the work glove 10 so long as the third plurality of securing patches 24″ are fixedly attached to the work glove 10. The preferred method will be to have the third plurality of securing patches 24″ incorporated directly within the wrist segment 22 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. The third plurality of glove securing patches 24″ can be in any number and in any type of orientation as long as such are secured to the wrist segment 22 of the work glove 10. The third plurality of glove securing patches 24″ on the wrist segment 22 are adapted to attach either the first towel edge section 34 and/or the second towel edge section 36 of the towel member 26 (dependent upon the location of the towel securing patch 28).

Referring to FIGS. 2, 4 and 6, the work glove 10 of the work glove system 2 includes a fourth plurality of glove securing patches 24″′ secured to at least one fingertip portion 16 of the finger portions 12 of the work glove 10. The fourth plurality of glove securing patches 24″′ that are secured to the fingertip portions 16 of the work glove 10. The fourth plurality of securing patches 24″′ attached to the fingertip portions 16 can be secured to the work glove 10 by any means, such as, sewing, by an adhesive or manufacturing directly within the work glove 10 so long as the fourth plurality of securing patches 24″′ are fixedly attached to the work glove 10.

The preferred method will be to have the fourth plurality of securing patches 24″′ incorporated directly within the fingertip portions 16 of the work glove 10. The fourth plurality of glove securing patches 24″′ can be in any number and in any type of orientation as long as such are secured to the fingertip portions 16 of the finger portions 12 of the work glove 10. The fourth plurality of glove securing patches 24″′ on the fingertip portions 16 are adapted to attach either the first towel edge section 34 and/or the second towel edge section 36 of the towel member 26 (dependent upon the positioning of the towel securing patch 28).

The fourth plurality of glove securing patches 24″′ can also, similarly, be fixedly attached to a plurality of fingertip portions 16 of the work glove 10. Therefore, if the fourth plurality of glove securing patches 24″′ are fixedly secured to various or a plurality of fingertip portions 16 of the work glove 10, the towel member 26 can be attached to at least one or multiple fingertip portions 16.

The various glove securing patches 24, 24′, 24″ and 24″′ themselves will be of the type to secure the towel member 26. For example, the glove securing patches 24, 24′, 24″ and 24″′ could be an adhesive material, the type of which can adhere the towel member 26 (at the towel member 26 towel securing patch 28). In a preferred embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 2, 4 and 5, the first, second, third and fourth pluralities of securing patches 24, 24′, 24″ and 24″′ will each respectively be glove hook and loop patches 30, 30′, 30″ and 30″′. The glove hook and loop patches 30, 30′, 30″ and 30″′ will attach the towel member 26 at the towel securing patch 28. Therefore, in a preferred embodiment, the towel securing patch 28 will be towel hook and loop patches 32 also known as Velcro®, as detailed above. Thus, the glove hook and loop patches 30, 30′, 30″and 30″′ on the work glove 10 will removably attach the towel hook and loop patches 28 on the towel member 26.

The type of the first, second, third or fourth glove securing patches 24, 24′, 24″ and 24″′ will always correspond and be the same as the towel securing patch 28. Therefore, if the glove securing patches 24 are glove hook and loop patches 30, 30′, 30″ or 30″′ (as in the preferred embodiment and as shown in FIGS. 1-X) then the towel securing patches 28 will be towel hook and loop patches 32. If the glove securing patches 24 are some other adhesive or securement means, the towel securing patches 28 will be the same such that the two (first, second, third or fourth glove securing patches 24, 24′, 24″ and 24″′ and towel securing patches 28) can be removably coupled each to the other.

In another embodiment as shown in FIG. 3, the work glove system 2 will include a towel member 26 that is fixedly secured to the work glove 10 by either the first towel edge section 34 or the second towel edge section 36 of the towel member 26. Whichever towel end section 34 or 36 is secured to the work glove 10, the other towel end section 34 or 36 will be removably attachable to the work glove 10. The towel member 26 is fixedly secured to the work glove 10 by either the first or second towel edge section 34 or 36 by any means such as, sewing, or the like to long as one of the towel end sections 34 or 36 is fixed to the work glove 10. Also, as previously detailed, the towel member 26 can be removably attachable to the work glove 10 by a towel securing patch 28, which also as previously detailed, is towel hook and loop patches 30. For example, the towel member 26 can be fixedly secured to the palmar segment 18 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 by the first towel edge section 34 and releasably secured to the dorsal segment 20 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 by the second towel edge section 36. In this manner, the towel member 26 will wrap around the work glove 10 with one towel end section 34 or 36 fixedly secured to the palmar segment 18 and the opposite towel end section 34 or 36 releasingly secured to the dorsal segment 20.

The opposite of the previously described could be done as well, with one towel end section 34 or 36 being fixedly secured to the dorsal segment 20 and have the opposite towel end section 34 or 36 releasably secured to the palmar segment 18 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. In this manner, the towel member 26 will still wrap around the work glove 10 but will be fixedly secured (by sewing or a like technique) at the dorsal segment 20 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 and releasably attachable to the palmar segment 18 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10.

As detailed above and as shown in FIG. 3, the work glove system 2 will include a towel member 26, which has a first towel edge section 34 that will be fixedly attached to one segment (palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22) of the body section 14. The towel member 26 will include a second towel edge section 36 that includes towel securing patches 28. The towel securing patches 28 will be releasably attachable to one of the body sections to which the first towel edge section 34 is not fixedly secured. Additionally, as previously detailed, the towel securing patch 28 will be releasably attachable to a glove securing patch 24, 24′, 24″ or 24″′. In the preferred embodiment, the towel securing patches 28 will be towel hook and loop patches 32. Similarly, the body section 14 will include glove securing patches 24, 24′, 24″ and 24″′ which, in the preferred embodiment, will define glove hook and loop patches, 30, 30′, 30″ and 30″′. The towel hook and loop patches 32 will be releasably attachable to the glove hook loop patches 30 or 30′ or 30″ or 30″′.

The towel member 26 can be fixedly secured at the first towel edge section 34 to either the palmar segment 18 or the dorsal segment 20 or the wrist segment 22 of the body section 14 of the work glove 10. The second towel edge section 36 can be attached to either the same part of the body section 14 of the work glove 10 as the first towel edge section 34 or can be attached releasably to another segment (either palmar segment 18 or dorsal segment 20 or wrist segment 22) of the body section 14 of the work glove 10.

It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes could be made to the embodiments described above without departing from the broad inventive concept thereof. It is understood, therefore, that this invention is not limited to the particular embodiments disclosed, but is intended to cover modifications within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
