Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a clipping piece structure for goggles, and particularly to a clipping piece structure disposed at two sides of protective goggles for connecting with a strap and buckling a lens to a frame.

2. Description of the Prior Art

People protect their eyes in many situations by wearing protective goggles, such as sporting goggles, swimming goggles, safety goggles, or ski goggles. For the prior art on protective goggles, please refer to U.S. Pat. No. 5,617,588 entitled “Snap together protective goggles construction with toric lens”, published on Apr. 8, 1997, the objectives of that particular patent include:

1. Fitting different sizes of faces;

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Reference is made to FIG. 1, which is an exploded perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles, with a strap and protective goggles according to the present invention. The present invention provides a clipping piece structure 1 that is adapted to every kind of protective goggles 9. The protective goggles 9 include an elastic strap 8, a lens 92 and a frame 94. The lens 92 is used to protect the user's eyes. The frame 94 has an outer side and an inner side, wherein the outer side is engaged with the lens 92, and the inner side contacts the user's face. The lens 92 and the frame 94 have a pair of protruding portions 922, 942 that protrude from their two sides, respectively. The protruding portions 922, 942 are formed with engaging holes 920, 940, respectively.

The clipping piece structure 1 is used to connect the elastic strap 8, the lens 92, and the frame 94. The clipping piece structure 1 includes a main body 10 and a blocking piece 20. The main body 10 includes a strap connecting part 12 and a pair of hooking arms 16 positioned at one side of the strap connecting part 12. The strap connecting part 12 is used to connect with the elastic strap 8. In this embodiment, the strap connecting part 12 has a friction rod 122 and a pair of slits 124, 126 that are respectively formed at two sides of the friction rod 122. The elastic strap 8 passes through the slit 124, which is positioned at the inner side of the friction rod 122, from the inside to the outside firstly, and is then wrapped around the friction rod 122. Finally, it passes through the slit 126, which is positioned at the outer side of the friction rod 122, from the outside to the inside.

This embodiment further includes an extending portion 14 that is located between the strap connecting part 12 and the pair of hooking arms 16. The extending portion 14 is connected to one side of the strap connecting part 12. The extending portion 14 in this embodiment has a bendable folding portion 142 that is connected to the strap connecting part 12. The folding portion 142 is folded so that the strap connecting part 12 is connected to the extending portion 14 in a bendable way.

The pair of hooking arms 16 extends outwardly from one side of the extending portion 14, which defines a receiving space 160 between the pair of hooking arms 16. The pair of hooking arms 16 respectively form a free end 162 that is hook-shaped. In FIG. 1A the free ends 162 are the front end and are respectively wedged in the pair of engaging holes 920, 940 for fixing the lens 92 to the frame 94. The free ends 162 pass the engaging holes 940 of the frame 94, firstly, and then pass the engaging holes 920 of the lens 92. The hooking arm 16 hooks outwardly with the protruding portion 922 of the lens 92.

When a user puts the strap 8 on, the lens 92 is pulled to the frame 94 by the pair of hooking arms 16 because of the strap 8 is pulled back. Therefore, it prevents the lens 92 from escaping forward. Moreover, the clipping piece structure 1 of the present invention provides a safety function. If the user neglects to assemble the lens 92 into the frame 94, the pair of hooking arms 16 will not be able to engage with the lens 92, and the protective goggles 9 can not be worn. Therefore, the present invention prevents the user from wearing the goggles 9 incorrectly.

In this embodiment, each of the hooking arms 16 respectively have an anti-sliding portion 161 that is formed at its outer side. The anti-sliding portion 161 can be easily engaged by a user via pushing the anti-sliding portion 161 with his or her finger. The anti-sliding portion 161 prevents the hooking arms 16 from sliding out of place. The receiving space 160 has a curved space (not labeled) that extends from the extending portion 14 to the pair of hooking arms 16, and a trapezoid space (not labeled) that communicates with the curved space. Such a shape strengthens the structural intensity of the pair of hooking arms 16 while still providing good elasticity.

The blocking piece 20 is disposed movably in the receiving space 160 between the pair of hooking arms 16. The blocking piece 20 is propped against the inner side of the pair of hooking arms 16. The blocking piece 20 of this embodiment has a shape corresponding to the receiving space 160, and has a curved portion 22 and a trapezoid portion 24 connected to the curved portion 22. The blocking piece 20 props against the extending portion 14 and the protruding portion 942 of the frame 94. The pair of hooking arms 16 are therefore restrained, wherein the free ends 162 will slant neither up nor down in the engaging hole 940 of the frame 94 and will not escape from the protective goggles 9.

If the user wants to detach the lens 92 form the protective goggles 9 the blocking piece 20 must firstly be taken out from the receiving space 160. Next, the pair of hooking arms 16 need to be pushed. The hook-shaped free ends 162 can then be separated from the protective goggles 9.

Reference is made to FIG. 2, which is a side view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of a second embodiment according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a clipping piece structure 1a including a main body 10 and a blocking piece 20a. The blocking piece 20a has a curved portion 22 and a trapezoid portion 24. Moreover, it further has a pair of protruding blocks 26 protruding from the trapezoid portion 24 along the direction substantially parallel to the pair of hooking arms 16.

Reference is made to FIG. 2A. The pair of protruding blocks 26 are wedged in the pair of engaging holes 940 of the frame 94, respectively. In other words, the pair of protruding blocks 26 and the free ends 162 of the pair of hooking arms 16 are all wedged into the pair of engaging holes 940 of the frame 94 together. The tolerance that allows the pair of hooking arms 16 of the main body 10 to move is limited, and they cannot easily escape from the protective goggles 9 because of the angle. When the user pushes the curved portion 22 outward, the blocking piece 20a is separated from the main body 10.

Reference is made to FIG. 3, which is a perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of a third embodiment according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a clipping piece structure 1b including a main body 10b and a blocking piece 20b. The blocking piece 20b also has a curved portion 22 and a trapezoid portion 24. The main body 10b further has a sub-folding portion 144 that connects the blocking piece 20b to the extending portion 14. This clipping piece structure 1b is formed integrally, wherein the blocking piece 20b connects with the main body 10b and the blocking piece 20b therefore is not easily lost.

Reference is made to FIG. 4, which is a side view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of a fourth embodiment according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a clipping piece structure 1c including a main body 10c and a blocking piece 20c. The blocking piece 20c has a pair of pivotal shafts 222 which protrude from the curved portion 22. The pair of pivotal shafts 222 are substantially perpendicular to the pair of hooking arms 16. The pair of hooking arms 16 are respectively formed with a pivotal hole 164 corresponding to the pivotal shaft 222. The pair of pivotal shafts 222 are received in the pivotal holes 164.

Reference is made to FIG. 4A, which is a perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of the fourth embodiment according to the present invention. FIG. 4A shows that the blocking piece 20c can rotate in the clipping piece structure 1c. The trapezoid portion 24 of the blocking piece 20c can be rotated and is positioned between the pair of hooking arms 16, so that the clipping piece structure 1c can engaged stably with the protective goggles. When the trapezoid portion 24 is rotated out, the pair of hooking arms 16 can be pressed down.

Reference is made to FIG. 5, which is a side view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of a fifth embodiment according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a clipping piece structure Id including a main body 10d and a blocking piece 20d. The blocking piece 20d has a pair of pivotal shafts 222 that protrude from the curved portion 22, and a pair of protruding blocks 26 that protrude from the trapezoid portion 24. The pair of protruding blocks 26 are wedged in the pair of engaging holes 940 of the frame 94, respectively. Moreover, each of the hooking arms 16 forms a pivotal slot 166. The pivotal slots 166 can receive the pivotal shafts 222 and allow the blocking piece 20d to move toward the strap connecting part 12.

When moving the pivotal shaft 222 of the blocking piece 20d in the pivotal slot 166 toward the strap connecting part 12, the protruding blocks 26 departs from the pair of engaging holes 940 of the frame 94. Next, the blocking piece 20d is rotated, allowing the hooking arms 16 to be pressed inwardly. The clipping piece structure 1d will then be able to separate from the protective goggles 9.

Reference is made to FIG. 6, which is a perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of a sixth embodiment according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a horseshoe-shaped blocking piece 20e. The blocking piece 20e has two arms that can prop elastically against the pair of hooking arms 16.

Reference is made to FIGS. 7 and 8, which are respectively an exploded perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of a seventh embodiment and a cross-sectional view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of the seventh embodiment after assembly according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a pair of blocking pieces 30 disposed at two sides of the protective goggles 9. Each of the blocking pieces 30 has a covering board 32 and a pair of side boards 34, 36 that are respectively connected to two sides of the covering board 32. The side boards 34, 36 have a pair of protruding bars 342, 362 which protrude inwardly from their inner surfaces. The protruding bars 342, 362 are wedged in the lens 92 and the engaging holes 920, 940 of the frame 94.

In more detail, the covering board 32 and the pair of side boards 34, 36 clip the protruding portions 922, 942 of the lens 92 and the frame 94. The side board that is closest to the user is the inner side board 34 and the one farthest away from the user is the outer side board 36. When assembling this embodiment, the pair of protruding bars 362 of the outer side board 36 are wedged in the pair of engaging holes 940 of the frame 94 so that such a design restrains the pair of hooking arms 16. Next, the pair of protruding bars 342 of the inner side board 34 are wedged in the pair of engaging holes 920 of the lens 92 so that the blocking piece 30 can engage with the protective goggles 9. The protruding bars 362 of the outer side board 36 are shorter than the protruding bars 342 of the side board 34 so that the blocking piece 30 can be easily taken off.

Reference is made to FIG. 9, which is an exploded perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of an eighth embodiment according to the present invention. This embodiment provides a clipping piece structure including a main body 10f, and a blocking piece 40. The main body 10f has a pair of hooking arms 16 which define a receiving space 160 between the pair of hooking arms 16. Each of the hooking arms 16 has an anti-sliding portion 161 and a free end 162. From the pair of hooking arms 16 a guiding rail 163 protrudes toward the receiving space 160. The guiding rail 163 forms respectively at least one positioning protrusion 165. The blocking piece 40 is generally U-shaped and has a holding portion 42 and a pair of restraining arms 44 extending from two ends of the holding portion 42. Each of the restraining arms 44 has a guiding groove 440 formed on its top surface and at least one position notch 442 corresponding to the positioning protrusions 165.

Reference is made to FIG. 10, which is an assembled perspective view of a clipping piece structure for goggles of the eighth embodiment according to the present invention. The pair of restraining arms 44 of the blocking piece 40 are movably connected with the pair of guiding rails 163 of the blocking piece 10f. The pair of restraining arms 44 can slide on the pair of guiding rails 163, and are wedged in the pair of engaging holes 940 of the frame 94 and the pair of engaging holes 920 of the lens 92. Moreover, the positioning protrusion 165 and the position notch 442, positions the blocking piece 40 properly.

In this embodiment, each of the guiding rails 163 have two positioning protrusions 165, and each of the restraining arms 44 have two position notches 442. The distance between the two positioning protrusions 165 is equal to the distance from the front end of the anti-sliding portion 161 of the hooking arm 16 to the front end of the free end 162.

In summation, the clipping piece structure for goggles of the invention includes the following advantages:

1. The present invention provides a blocking piece that can prop against the pair of hooking arms 16 and limits the movement of the pair of hooking arms 16 in the pair of engaging holes 920, 940. Such a design ensures that the hooking arm 16 engages with both sides of the protective goggles 9 and stops the lens escaping forward.

2. The clipping piece structure 1 of the present invention provides a safety function. If the user neglects to attach the lens 92 to the goggles, the pair of hooking arms 16 cannot be engaged with the lens 92 and the protective goggles 9 can not be worn, thereby avoiding incorrect wearing of the goggles and any harm that may subsequently be caused to the wearer.
