Pivotable cover of ribbon gun

Abstract

A ribbon gun includes a body portion having a trigger mechanism received therein and a magazine can be received in the body portion and ejected by pulling the trigger mechanism. A cover has an opening and an annular flange extends from a side of the cover. The opening is enclosed by the annular flange and a barrel member is connected to the annular flange. A locking member and a lug are connected to the cover. The locking member has an engaging member extending therefrom which is removably engaged with a protrusion on the body portion to secure the cover, and a pivot extends from two sides of the lug so as to be pivotably connected to the body portion.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a ribbon gun having a pivotable cover on a front end thereof and the cover can be easily opened to re-load the cartridges.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A conventional ribbon gun known to applicant is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,120,346 and includes a body portion 1 with a movable cover connected to a front end thereof and a decorated head connected to the cover, and a magazine received in the body 1. The cover includes a positioning eye on a top thereof and a bolt extends through the pivot hole and connected to the body portion so that the cover can be pivoted about the bolt. The ribbon gun includes many complicated structure which requires too many assembly steps. Besides, the positioning eye is easily deformed or broken such that the cover cannot secured at the correct position and the opening in the cover is then not aligned with the body portion, the ribbon cannot ejected from the opening of the cover.

The present invention intends to provide a ribbon gun which includes a body portion composed of two halves and a pivotable cover is pivotably connected to a front end of the body portion. The cover includes a locking member on a top thereof and a pivot at a lower end thereof, the pivot is pivotably connected to the two halves so that the cover can be easily assembled and pivoted.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a ribbon gun which comprises a body portion with a trigger mechanism received therein and a cover is pivotably connected to a front end of the body portion. The cover has an opening and an annular flange extends from a side of the cover and encloses the opening. A barrel member which can be any shape of mask is connected to the annular flange so that the ribbon can be ejected from the barrel member. A locking member is connected to the cover and has an engaging member extending therefrom which is removably engaged with a protrusion on the body portion to secure the cover. A lug extends from the cover and a pivot extends from two sides of the lug. The pivot is pivotably connected to the body portion.

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a cover of a ribbon gun wherein the cover is pivotably connected to the body portion by a pivot and a locking member is removably connected to the body portion so that the cover can be pivoted about the pivot by lifting the locking member away from the body portion.

The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, the ribbon gun of the present invention comprises a body portion 10 which is composed of two halves 12 which are matched with each other to form the body portion 10. A trigger mechanism is received in the body portion 10 and includes a shaft 33, a impact rod 32 and a trigger 31 which extends from the body portion 10 so that when a user pulls the trigger 31, the impact rod 32 moves to fire the cartridges of a magazine (not shown) received in the body portion 10. The magazine includes a plurality of cartridges in which ribbons are received. The magazine and the triggering mechanism are well known to the art and not considered as a part of the invention. A protrusion 14 extends from a top of the body portion 10.

A cover 40 is pivotably connected to a front end of the body portion 10 and has an opening which is enclosed by an annular flange 41 extending from a side of the cover 40. A barrel member 20 can be made to be any decorated mask and is connected to the annular flange 41. The barrel member 20 includes a hole which is in alignment with the opening of the cover 40 so that the cartridge can be ejected from the hole of the barrel member 20. A locking member 44 made by flexible material is connected to the cover 40 and has an engaging member 442 extending therefrom which is removably engaged with the protrusion 14 to secure the cover 40 to the body portion 10. A lug 42 extends from the cover 40 and a pivot 43 extends from two sides of the lug 42. The two ends of the pivot 43 are pivotably connected to the two halves 12 of the body portion 10. The locking member 44 and the lug 42 are located diametrically on a periphery of the cover 40, the locking member 44 can be set on a top of the cover 40 and the lug 42 extends from a lower portion of the cover 40.

When loading the magazine, the user can simply lift the locking member 44 away from the protrusion 14 on the body portion 10 such that the cover 40 is pivoted about the pivot 43 and the front end of the body portion 10 is completely opened so that the magazine can be easily loaded. The cover 40 is then pivoted to cover the front end of the body portion 10 and the engaging member 442 is again engaged with the protrusion 14 to secure the cover 40.

While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. A ribbon gun comprising:

a body portion having a trigger mechanism received therein and a protrusion extending from a top of the body portion, and

a cover pivotably connected to a front end of the body portion, the cover having an opening and an annular flange extending from a side of the cover, the opening being enclosed by the annular flange, a barrel member connected to the annular flange, a locking member connected to the cover and having an engaging member extending therefrom which is removably engaged with the protrusion to secure the cover, a lug extending from the cover and a pivot extending from two sides of the lug, the pivot pivotably connected to the body portion.

2. The ribbon gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein the body portion is composed of two halves.

3. The ribbon gun as claimed in claim 2, wherein two ends of the pivot are respectively pivotably connected to the two halves.

4. The ribbon gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein the locking member and the lug are located diametrically on a periphery of the cover.
