Gravity deer call holder

The Gravity Deer Call Holder is a device comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck. This device enables a hunter to have his hands free until it is time to deploy the call. If the deer call were being kept in the hunter's pocket or vest pouch, as is the manner in which gravity deer calls are currently taken to the field, the mishandling or premature deployment of the call is more likely than if the call were hung around one's neck on a lanyard. Mishandling or premature deployment of the call can result in missed opportunities to kill one's prey. Using the Gravity Deer Call Holder permits the hunter to have convenient access to the call at all times and allows for use of the call with one hand with no interference with the hunter's handling of his weapon.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a device comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck.

2. Description of the Related Art

There are various products on the market designed to assist the deer hunter to carry and hold a variety of hunting accessories. Most of the accessory holding conveyances fall into the vest or harness categories and are fitted with assorted pockets, pouches, clamps, and/or rings. The hunter would then put the accessory into the appropriate pocket or pouch, or hang the accessory from a ring or clamp.

There are no products on the market that compare to the Gravity Deer Call Holder. Having a device comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck enables the hunter to have his hands free until it is time to deploy the call. If the call were being kept in the hunter's vest or jacket pocket, mishandling or premature deployment of the call is more likely than if the call were placed in a pouch and hung from one's neck on a lanyard. Mishandling or premature deployment of the call can result in missed opportunities to kill one's prey. Using the Gravity Deer Call Holder permits the hunter to have convenient access to the call at all times and allows for use of the call with one hand with no interference with the hunter's handling of his weapon.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In accordance with the objectives and purposes of the present invention as embodied and described herein, the Gravity Deer Call Holder is a device comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck.

Over the years, many variations of satchels, backpacks, fanny packs, vests, harnesses, and the like have been adapted to uses by sportsmen, such as hunters and fishermen, for carrying their respective gear.

One prior form of carrier for sportsmen is a hunter's vest with a number of pockets and pouches adorning both sides of the front of the garment. This rendered the vest ambidextrous. Identical game call pockets, such as for geese, ducks, or deer, are disposed on both sides of the vest located over the chest when worn. Elastic shell loops were also provided on the vest, often over the side gear pockets.

When a typical vest is loaded, the items in the vest tend to obstruct the gun mount in preparation for shooting. Thus, if a hunter were to store any game calls in a vest pocket or pouch, or were to hang the calls from any of the vest rings or clamps, the calls will likely interfere with the gun mount and the act of shooting. The Gravity Deer Call Holder, with its neck-worn lanyard, prevents interference with the gun mount and the act of shooting.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In accordance with the objectives and purposes of the present invention as embodied and described herein, the Gravity Deer Call Holder is a device comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck.

Over the years, many variations of satchels, backpacks, fanny packs, vests, harnesses, and the like have been adapted to uses by sportsmen for carrying their respective gear. While these devices satisfied the needs of some sportsmen, it was not suitable for other sportsmen, such as hunters and fishermen, including deer hunters, turkey hunters, upland game hunters, skeet shooters, trap shooters, sporting clay shooters, and fly fishermen. Each of these groups of sportsmen have particular needs for holding, carrying, or storing different gear particular to their focused endeavors, and for having that gear readily and ergonomically accessible for useful deployment in field or fishing environments.

Thus, if a hunter were to store any game calls in a vest or jacket pocket, or were to hang the calls from any of the vest rings or clamps, the calls will likely interfere with the gun mount and the act of shooting. The Gravity Deer Call Holder, with its neck-worn lanyard, prevents interference with the gun mount and the act of shooting.

Having a device that is comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck enables the hunter to have his hands free until it is time to deploy the call. If the call were being kept in the hunter's vest or jacket pocket, mishandling or premature deployment of the call is more likely than if the call were suspended from one's neck on a lanyard. Mishandling or premature deployment of the call can result in missed opportunities to kill one's prey. Using the Gravity Deer Call Holder permits the hunter to have convenient access to the call at all times and allows for use of the call with one hand with no interference with the hunter's handling of his weapon.

The primary difference between the various Gravity Deer Call Holders is merely a difference in the size of the pouch and the length of the lanyards. The Gravity Deer Call Holder comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large. These three sizes will accommodate most of the gravity deer calls currently on the market such as the Primo Deer Calls, the Knight and Hale Deer Calls, and the EZ Gravity Bleat.

The small Gravity Deer Call Holder has a pouch that is 5.25 inches in circumference, 1.5 inches in diameter across the bottom, and 1.75 inches tall. The string is 33 inches in length measured from where the string leaves one side of the pouch top opening, travels around the wearer's neck, and attaches to the other side of the pouch top opening. There are 5.25 inches of elastic sewn into the lining of the pouch top opening.

The medium Gravity Deer Call Holder has a pouch that is 6.0 inches in circumference, 1.75 inches in diameter across the bottom, and 2.0 inches tall. The string is 41 inches in length measured from where the string leaves one side of the pouch top opening, travels around the wearer's neck, and attaches to the other side of the pouch top opening. There are 6.0 inches of elastic sewn into the lining of the pouch top opening.

The large Gravity Deer Call Holder has a pouch that is 8.0 inches in circumference, 2.25 inches in diameter across the bottom, and 2.25 inches tall. The string is 49 inches in length measured from where the string leaves one side of the pouch top opening, travels around the wearer's neck, and attaches to the other side of the pouch top opening. There are 8.0 inches of elastic sewn into the lining of the pouch top opening.

The three different sizes of the Gravity Deer Call Holder, with the corresponding three different lengths of the lanyard, enables a hunter to wear more than one holder at a time. For example, a hunter could wear three holders, i.e., a small, a medium, and a large, all at the same time. The different lanyard lengths would allow all three holders to hang from the hunter's neck at three different positions down the front of the hunter's torso.

Turning now to the drawings, it will first be appreciated that each of the carrier embodiments described herein has the advantage and attributes of any of the various Gravity Deer Call Holders. FIG. 1 shows a Gravity Deer Call Holder with no deer call inserted into the pouch, i.e., the pouch is empty. The complete working device is comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call, a gravity deer call inserted into the pouch, and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck. FIG. 2 shows a typical generic gravity deer call standing by itself. FIG. 3 shows a Gravity Deer Call Holder with a typical deer call inserted into the pouch. The complete working device is comprised of a pouch to hold a gravity deer call, a gravity deer call inserted into the pouch, and a lanyard to hang the device around one's neck.
