Box-spring assembly
A box-spring assembly includes two frames, a resilient member, a plurality of lateral springs, and a plurality of clips. The frames are spaced apart from each other, and each of the frames has a looped lateral frame rod. The resilient member includes an array of spring coil units disposed between the frames, and a plurality of connecting elements connecting the spring coil units to each other. Each of the lateral springs is connected between the looped lateral frame rods so as to reinforce the looped lateral frame rods. The clips connect the spring coil units and the lateral springs to the looped lateral frame rods.
1. Field of the Invention
The invention relates to a box-spring assembly, more particularly to a box-spring assembly for a mattress.
2. Description of the Related Art
Referring to
However, since the resilient support of the looped lateral frame rods 111 of the frames 11 is insufficient, the sides of the mattress are liable to be deformed due to the weight loaded on the mattress proximate to the looped lateral frame rods 111 of the frames 11.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONTherefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a box-spring assembly, which provides an improved resilient support for the sides of a mattress.
According to this invention, a box-spring assembly includes two frames, a resilient member, a plurality of lateral springs, and a plurality of clips. The clips connect the spring coil unit and the lateral springs to the looped lateral frame rods.
Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:
Referring to
The frames 2 are spaced apart from each other, and each of the frames 2 has a looped lateral frame rod 21, which is formed in a rectangular shape in this preferred embodiment. In practical use, the looped lateral frame rod 21 can be formed in other geometrical shapes, such as a circular shape.
The resilient member 3 includes an array of spring coil units 31 disposed between the frames 2, and a plurality of connecting elements 32 connecting the spring coil units 31 to each other. Each of the connecting elements 32 is a metal wire that is coiled helically, and is connected to the top and bottom end portions of corresponding ones of the spring coil units 31.
The clips 4 connect the spring coil units 31 proximate to the looped lateral frame rods 21 and the lateral springs 5 to the looped lateral frame rods 21.
Each of the lateral springs 5 is connected between the looped lateral frame rods 21 so as to reinforce the looped lateral frame rods 21. Each of the lateral springs 5 includes two fastening end portions 51 extending parallel to and fastened to the looped lateral frame rods 21 correspondingly via the clips 4, a resilient helix portion 53 between the fastening end portions 51, and two supporting portions 52 each extending between a corresponding one of the fastening end portions 51 and the resilient helix portion 53 and oblique to the corresponding one of the fastening end portions 51. Each of the lateral springs 5 is a one-piece bent metal rod that substantially resembles a figure of M in this embodiment.
When the box-spring assembly of this invention is used for a mattress, the lateral springs 5 provide reinforced resilient support for the looped lateral frame rods 21 of the frames 2. Therefore, as shown in
While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.
