Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a functional seat for use in a conventional baby carriage which is a means for carrying an infant, i.e., four-wheeled, three-wheeled, or two-wheeled carriage, and more particularly, to a seat for use in a baby carriage capable of protecting an infant against the cold for the winter season and staying the infant in the stable condition.

2. Background of the Related Art

Several baby carriages have been developed to more comfortably and conveniently carry an infant for outings. As an example, a baby carriage includes a foldable frame having two pairs of front and rear wheels and being foldable to reduce its volume for convenient carrying and keeping it, and a seat having a backrest which can be set to the frame at a slope suitable to support the infant sitting or lying on the seat.

When an infant goes out of doors with the baby carriage, a separate foldable canopy for shading light and sheltering from wind is installed on the frame to protect the infant from being directly exposed to the atmosphere in the summer season.

However, the canopy shields the infant from the wind in the winter season, but there is no means for keeping the infant warm against a cold atmosphere.

In order to keep the infant warm, the infant should wear winter clothes or be covered with a blanket. In this case, such preparation is cumbersome, and if the infant goes out in the cold weather for a long time, it threatens infant's health. In case of using the blanket, it is not easy to fasten the safety belt provided in the baby carriage. If the infant is not fixed by the safety belt, the safety carrying of the infant is not secured.

Recently, since outdoor activity is increased without regard to the winter season and the summer season. In particular, it is needed cold-proof equipment for the infant for the winter season.

Meanwhile, when the infant is moved with the baby carriage, the infant and a protector do not respond to each other. That is, the protector pushes the baby carriage at a rear side, while the infant sits on the seat. Consequently, the infant sitting on the baby carriage alone feels uneasy Therefore, the infant is emotionally unstable.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a seat for use in a baby carriage that substantially obviates one or more problems due to limitations and disadvantages of the related art.

An object of the present invention is to provide a seat for use in a baby carriage having a seat plate, a backrest plate, and a plane heater built in the seat plate and the backrest plate for keeping an infant warm for the winter season, thereby securing free outdoor activity.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a seat for use in a baby carriage having loudspeakers built in left and right sides of a backrest plate for outputting an audio signal so that an infant is emotionally stable.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a seat for use in a baby carriage having fastening bands on rear sides of a backrest plate and seat plate for fastening the seat to the baby carriage.

To achieve the object and other advantages, according to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a seat for use in a baby carriage, the seat including a foldable frame having two pairs of front and rear wheels and being foldable to reduce its volume for convenient carrying and keeping, and a seat set to the frame at a slope suitable to support an infant sitting or lying on the seat, which includes a seat plate supporting hips of the infant, a backrest plate extended from one side of the seat plate for supporting a back of the infant, the seat plate and the backrest plate being foldably engaged to each other, heating elements installed in the seat plate and the backrest plate for keeping the infant warm, an elastic coupling element for coupling the seat plate and the backrest plate, and a pair of loudspeakers connected to a sound apparatus built at upper positions of the backrest plate of the baby carriage, thereby protecting the infant against the cold weather and giving sense of stability to the infant.

It is to be understood that both the foregoing general description and the following detailed description of the present invention are exemplary and explanatory and are intended to provide further explanation of the invention as claimed.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The accompanying drawings, which are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated in and constitute a part of this application, illustrate embodiment(s) of the invention and together with the description serve to explain the principle of the invention. In the drawings:

FIG. 1 is a diagram schematically depicting the construction of a seat according to the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a rear view of a seat according to the present invention; and

FIG. 3 is a partially side view illustrating a seat of the present invention mounted on a baby carriage.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

A preferred embodiment according to the present invention will now be explained with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIGS. 1 and 2 show a seat for use in a baby carriage according to the present invention.

The present invention relates to a functional seat for use in a conventional baby carriage 10 including a foldable frame 12 having two pairs of front and rear wheels 14 and being foldable to reduce its volume for convenient carrying and keeping it.

The frame 12 of the baby carriage 10 is additionally provided with a seat 20 which can be set to the frame at a slope suitable to support an infant sitting or lying on the seat. The construction of the seat is improved to secure free outdoor activity for the winter season and to allow the infant to feel the stable.

The seat 20 includes a seat plate 22 supporting the hips of the infant and a backrest plate 24 for supporting the back of the infant. The seat plate 22 and the backrest plate 24 are foldably engaged to each other by a coupling member 30 such as a rubber band having good elasticity.

The seat 20 has a desired shape so that it is generally used in the baby carriage 20 which is made in various sizes. The seat plate 22 is made in a heart shape when shown from a top side. The seat plate 22 has a recessed portion 22a at a front center, and is adapted to be properly installed on any construction of the frame 12 of the carriage 10.

The backrest plate 24 is made in a convex shape when shown from a front side, and has a pair of bosses 24a protruding from both sides of an upper portion, in which loudspeakers are built in the bosses 24a.

The seat plate 22 and the backrest plate 24 are provided with fastening holes 25 for fastening the seat 20 to the frame 10 by safety belts of the baby carriage.

The seat 20 is made of a material having impact resistance, water resistance, and heat resistance, such as urethane.

Heating elements 26 and 28 are installed in the seat plate 22 and the backrest plate 24. A plane heater is used as the heating element in this embodiment.

The heating elements 26 and 28 are supplied with a power from a rechargeable battery 23. Overheat of the heating elements is prevented by a temperature sensor 21, and the heating elements are set as a temperature suitable for the infant.

A pair of loudspeakers 32 are built in the both bosses 24a of the backrest plate 24. The loudspeakers receive an audio signal from a sound apparatus 34 mounted in a proper position of the baby carriage 10 to output the audio signal to the infant sitting on the baby carriage, thereby being helpful to the development of intelligence and sensitivity and giving the sense of stability. The sound apparatus 34 and the heating elements 26 and 28 are electrically connected to a controller 33 so that the sound apparatus 34 and the heating elements 26 and 28 are controlled by the controller 33.

FIG. 3 is a rear view of the seat 20 according to the present invention. Fastening bands 36 and 38 having high elasticity are provided on the rear sides of the seat plate 12 and the backrest plate 14 to fix the seat 20 to the frame 12.

With the above description, the seat for use in the baby carriage according to the present invention has the following advantages.

Since the plane heaters are built in the seat plate and the backrest plate for keeping the infant warm for the winter season, the infant can enjoy free outdoor activity.

Also, the loudspeakers built in left and right sides of the backrest plate for outputting the audio signal to the infant, thereby stimulating brain cells of the infant and thus being helpful to the development of intelligence and sensitivity and giving the sense of stability.

Since the seat of the present invention has the fastening bands for fixing the seat to the frame of the baby carriage, the seat can be easily used in a conventional baby carriage as an auxiliary means.

The forgoing embodiment is merely exemplary and is not to be construed as limiting the present invention. The present teachings can be readily applied to other types of apparatus. The description of the present invention is intended to be illustrative, and not to limit the scope of the claims. Many alternatives, modifications, and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
