Description

Section 1: The Hair Dryer Hood Adjuster is a device that is installed on the Hair Dryer Arm assembly that holds the hood of the dryer chair which are used in Beauty Solons around the world.

The hood is the part that goes over the head of the person who is setting in the chair. The Hair Dryer Hood Adjuster has two main parts. They are made of black plastic. Both pieces have to be made of material that withstands 150 degrees Fahrenheit or 65.56 Celsius

The two main pieces of the assembly are made of black plastic.

    • PART 1:—the dimensions are 1.00×3.40×4.00
    • PART 2:—the dimensions are 1.00×1.70×4.00

The Adjustment Assembly Screw is assembled with three pieces.

    • Part 3:—Plastic Knob
    • Part 4:—Swivel Foot
    • Part 5:—¼-20 threaded steel rod 2.50 long

The two main parts 1 and 2 are held together and locked in place by two self threaded screws, parts 6 and 7.

Parts 3, 4, and 5 are assembled together by threading the ¼-20×2.50 threaded rod through part 2, 10 degree ¼-20 threaded hole. Then install and tighten part 3: Knob and part 4: Swivel Foot with required hand tools.

When all the parts of the adjuster are assembled and installed on the Hair Dryer the adjuster is used to adjust the manufactured 27 degrees angle to 33 degrees.

The purpose of the invention is to accommodate and customize the dryer hood to accommodate different people. When the adjuster is installed on the neck of the dryer, it will adjust the angle of the dryer hood. This enables the dryer hood to adjust too different people small, medium and tall. The person can sit up straight and more relaxed and comfortable in the chair. The air is more efficiently distributed from the front hairline to the back hairline. This invention will allow angle of the dryer hood to be more customized for individuals.

Section 2: Process of making the Hair Dryer Hood Adjuster

The machining of the prototype was done on a Bridgeport Mill. The material that was used was already 1 inch thick, so no machining was necessary on either part 1 or part 2

    • Part 1:
    • A: Part 1: machined square to dimensions required and machined on the radius per drawings.
    • B: Machined two drilled holes per drawings.
    • C: Machined the cut out to 1.700×3.187 per drawings.
    • Part 2:
    • A: Part 2: Machined Square per drawings,
    • B: Machined drilled holes per drawings.
    • C: Drill 10 degree hole with a #7 drill and tap ¼-20 threads per drawings.
    • D: Lay out and sawed per drawing and finished machining.
    • E: Part 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 is purchased from a vendor.
    • F: Part 5: ¼-20 threaded rod is machined to length on a Lathe and or cut to length with saw and ground to length per drawings.

Note: Note Part 1 and 2 if made in large quantities an injection mold should be made to produce these parts for cost savings. The prototype is machined from black plastic stock for development of the invention.

SUMMARY Hair Dryer Hood Adjuster

The invention is made of Black Plastic that can with stand heat to and above 150 degrees.

The invention allows the angularity adjustment of the hair dryer hood.

This invention allows a greater number of costumers to receive a more custom direction of air on their hair.

It also allows a more custom fit of the hair dryer hood on the customers head.

To be able to adjust the hair dryer hood! It allows the customers to be able to sit up straight which will improve the posture and comfort in the chair.

The air will be directed and more evenly around the head where the hair grows. More air flow can be directed to the nape of the neck. By changing the angle of the dryer hood, the hood can be adjusted up and away from the customer face and blow more air at the hair line of the customer forehead.
