Bag with a resilient frame

A bag with a resilient frame has a bag body, a resilient frame and at least one carrying strap. The bag body has an outside surface, at least one internal compartment and multiple attachment loops. The internal compartment is formed inside the bag body and has an opening and a fastener. The attachment loops are attached to the body outside the opening of the internal compartment. The resilient frame has a resilient rod and at least one rod-fastener and passes around the body and through the attachment loops. The rod section is connected with the rod-fastener to form a loop that will hold the internal compartment open when the fastener on the opening is opened. The at least one carrying strap is attached to the bag body. The resilient frame expands the bag even when nothing is in the bag.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a bag with a frame, and more particularly to a bag with a resilient frame that keeps the bag from collapsing when the bag does not contain anything.

2. Description of Related Art

Bags have been developed for many different purposes such as carrying official documents, hiking, mountain climbing and carrying sports equipment such as golf clubs, bowling balls and the like. For example, bags such as backpacks are made of conventional fabric, are used for a hike or mountain climbing and have a soft and pliable body. When the backpack does not contain anything, the body of the backpack easily collapses and looks unfavorable. Furthermore, the arrangement and positioning of items inside such a cavity in the backpack are jumbled easily because the cavity is twisted and deformed especially when the backpack moves, which results in damage of the items, especially soft and fragile items such as document sheets and glass items.

Some conventional bags have a body with an internal lining such as foam rubber to make the bags stand when the bag does not contain anything or is not full. However, the internal lining increases the weight and the cost of the bags.

Other conventional bags such as leather bags and briefcases are made of stiff leather material or a high-density material such as compressed fibers and have a tough and rigid body that readily hold its shape. Consequently, the body of the leather bags or briefcase can hold soft and fragile items such as official documents and eyeglasses. However, the leather material and the high-density material are expensive and make the bag heavy, especially for children and weak adults.

To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a bag with a resilient frame to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the invention is to provide a bag with a resilient frame to allow a bag with a soft body to hold the shape of the body so items inside the bag will not be crushed or crumpled by the bag.

A bag with a resilient frame in accordance with the present invention has a bag body, a resilient frame and at least one carrying strap. The bag body has an outside surface, at least one internal compartment and multiple attachment loops. The internal compartment is formed inside the bag body and has an opening and a fastener. The attachment loops are attached to the body outside the opening on the internal compartment. The resilient frame has a resilient rod and at least one rod-fastener. The resilient rod has at least one rod section and passes around the body and through the attachment loops. The at least one rod section of the resilient rod is connected with the at least one rod-fastener to form a loop that will open the internal compartment when the fastener on the opening is opened. The at least one carrying strap is mounted on the bag body.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A bag with a resilient frame in accordance with the present invention has a bag body, a resilient frame and at least one carrying strap. The bag body has an outside surface, at least one internal compartment and multiple attachment loops. The internal compartment is formed inside the bag body and has an opening and a fastener. The attachment loops are attached to the body outside the opening of the internal compartment. The resilient frame comprises a resilient rod and at least one rod-fastener. The resilient rod may have at least one rod section and passes around the body and through the attachment loops. The at least one rod section of the resilient rod is connected with the at least one rod-fastener to form a loop that will open the internal compartment when the fastener on the opening is opened. The at least one carrying strap is attached to the bag body.

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a first embodiment of a bag with a resilient frame is a utility bag (20) such as a travel bag or a sports bag. The utility bag (20) has a bag body (21), a resilient frame (10) and two carrying straps (22).

With further reference to FIG. 3, the bag body (21) has a bottom (212), a top (213), two sides, two ends (211), an internal compartment, multiple auxiliary pockets (216) and multiple attachment loops (13).

The internal compartment is formed inside the bag body (21) and has a top opening, a fastener and an inner surface. The top opening is formed in the top of the bag body (21) between the two ends and has two edges. The fastener is a zipper (214) attached to the two edges of the top opening.

The auxiliary pockets (216) may be formed respectively on the sides or the ends (211) of the bag body (21) or any combination of the sides and the ends (211).

The attachment loops (13) are attached to the ends (211) and the sides of the bag body (21). The attachment loops (13) attached respectively to the sides of the bag body (21) are in an arch. Each arch has two ends near the bottom (212) respectively near the ends (211) and a peak between the ends near the top (213) of the bag body (21). The attachment loops (13) attached respectively to the ends (211) are close to the bottom of the bag body (21).

A first embodiment of the attachment loops (13) has a tubular structure made of pliable and soft material and has a central hole. With further reference to FIG. 4, another embodiment of the attachment loops (13a) can be implemented with straps and grommets. The straps are looped and connected respectively with the grommets or snaps to form a central hole in each attachment loop (13a).

The resilient frame (10) is mounted on the bag body (21) and has a resilient rod (11) and at least one rod-fastener (12).

The resilient rod (11) extends in a straight line when unconstrained, is mounted through the central holes in the attachment loops (13, 13a) and has at least one rod section. Each rod section is made of resilient material such as fibers or plastic and has two ends (111, 112).

The at least one rod-fastener (12) is holds securely opposite ends (111, 112) of the at least one rod section to form the resilient rod (11) into a loop.

With reference to FIG. 5, an embodiment of the resilient frame (10) in accordance with the present invention has a resilient rod (11a) with two rod sections and two rod-fasteners (12). The rod sections are connected to each other with the rod-fasteners (12) to form a loop. Each rod-fastener (12) is mounted between the ends (111, 112) of different rod sections form the resilient rod (11a) into a loop.

The carrying straps (22) are attached securely and respectively to the sides close to the top of the bag body (21).

When the internal compartment is closed, the resilient rod (11, 11a) is deformed and curved along the paths of the attachment loops (13, 13a) on the bag body (21) and stretches the bag body (21) so the bag body (21) maintains a standing shape. When the fastener on the top opening of the internal compartment of the bag body (21) is opened, the resilient rod (11, 11a) respectively extending through the attachment loops (13, 13a) on the side extend outward and hold the top opening to the internal compartment open.

With reference to FIGS. 6 and 7, a second embodiment of the bag with a resilient frame is a golf bag (50). The golf bag (50) has a bag body (51), a resilient frame (10) and a carrying strap (52).

The bag body has a front (512), a back, two opposite sides (511), an open top (513), a bottom, two side internal compartments, multiple auxiliary pockets (517, 518) and multiple attachment loops (13).

The side internal compartments are formed respectively inside the sides (511) of the bag body (51), and each side internal compartment has a side opening and a fastener. The side opening is formed between the front (512) and one of the sides (511) of the bag body (51) and has two edges. The fasteners are side zippers (514) mounted respectively on the edges of the side openings.

The auxiliary pockets (517, 518) are formed respectively on the sides (511) close to the back of the bag body (51).

The attachment loops (13) are attached to the bag body (51) around the back and sides (511) close to the open top (513) of the bag body (51), down the sides (511) adjacent to the front (512) and around the sides (511) and the back near the bottom. With further reference to FIG. 4, the attachment loops (13, 13a) may have a tubular structure of pliable and soft material with a central hole or be implemented with straps and grommets or snaps to form a central hole.

The resilient frame (10) is mounted on the bag body (51) through the central holes of the attachment loops (13, 13a). The resilient frame (10) of the second embodiment has a structure the same as the first embodiment.

The carrying strap (52) is attached to the back of the bag body (51).

When the side internal compartments are closed, the resilient rod (11, 11a) in the attachment loops (13, 13a) expands the bag body (21) so the bag body (51) maintains a standing shape. When either or both of the side internal compartments are opened, the resilient rod (11, 11a) extends outward from the front of the bag body (51) and holds the side openings of the side internal compartments open.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A bag with a resilient frame comprising

a bag body having an outside surface; at least one internal compartment formed inside the bag body and each one of the at least one internal compartment having an opening and a fastener; and multiple attachment loops attached to the body outside the opening of the internal compartment;
a resilient frame having at least one rod-fastener; and a resilient rod passing around the body and through the attachment loops and having at least one rod section connected to the at least one rod-fastener to form a loop; and
at least one carrying strap attached to the bag body.

2. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 1, wherein:

the bag is a utility bag and the bag body further has a bottom, a top, two sides and two ends attached to the bottom, the sides and the top of the bag body;
the opening of the internal compartment is a top opening formed on the top of the bag body between the two ends and has two edges;
the fastener is attached to the two edges of the top opening;
the attachment loops are attached respectively to the ends and the sides of the bag body, wherein the attachment loops attached respectively to the sides of the bag body are in an arch that has two ends near the bottom respectively near the ends and a peak between the ends near the top of the bag body; and the attachment loops attached respectively to the two ends are close to the bottom of the bag body; and
two carrying strap are attached securely and respectively to the sides close to the top of the bag body.

3. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 2, wherein the resilient rod has two rod sections and two rod-fasteners that connect the rod sections to each other to form a loop.

4. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 3, wherein the attachment loops have a tubular structure made of pliable and soft material.

5. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 3, wherein the attachment loops are implemented with straps and grommets.

6. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 1, wherein:

the bag is a golf bag and the bag body further has a front, a back, two opposite sides, an open top, a bottom and multiple auxiliary pockets and a quantity of the internal compartment is two, wherein the internal compartments are side internal compartments;
the side internal compartment are formed respectively inside the sides of the bag body;
the opening of each side internal compartment is a side opening formed on one of the side of the bag body and has two edges;
the fastener of each side internal compartment is attached to the two edges of the side opening;
the attachment loops are attached to the bag body around the back and sides close to the open top of the bag body, down the sides adjacent to the front and around the sides and the back near the bottom; and
the carrying strap is attached to the back of the bag body.

7. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 6, wherein the resilient rod has two rod sections two rod-fasteners that connect the rod sections to each other to form a loop.

8. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 7, wherein the attachment loops have a tubular structure made of pliable and soft material.

9. The bag with a resilient frame as claimed in claim 7, wherein the attachment loops are implemented with straps and grommets.
