Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to nail drivers, in particular to an adjustable safety assembly of a nail driver, wherein the safety assembly can be adjusted easily and the volume is smaller.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Nail drivers have become a necessary device in various works, such as building, decoration, mechanics, etc. However the safety assembly is an important part in the nail driver.

In the prior art of the safety assembly of a nail driver, an enclosing portion is installed at a front end of the safety assembly of a nail driver and an adjusting seat is combined to a pivotal portion by thread connection. Thereby the adjusting seat can telescopically move along the enclosing portion so as to achieve the object of adjust the safety assembly of the nail driver.

In above mentioned prior art, although the safety assembly of the nail driver is adjustable, but since the enclosing portion is installed at a front end of the nail driver, it is adjacent to the beating opening of the nail driver. Not only the volume of the beating opening is enlarged greatly, but also the operation is not convenient or the nail driver cannot be used at a narrow space. More importantly, since the adjusting seat of the safety assembly is installed at the beating opening, it is possible the safety assembly will be actuated by mistake so as to cause an undesired accident.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the primary object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable safety assembly of a nail driver, wherein the safety assembly can be adjusted easily and the volume is smaller. In the present invention, an adjusting wheel is used to control the safety assembly. No more element is installed at the front end of the screw rod near the beating opening so that the volume is smaller. Furthermore, the adjusting wheel is installed at a position far away from the beating opening so that the mistake in adjustment is reduced. Thereby the retaining seat encloses the adjusting wheel, only a part of the adjusting wheel for adjustment protrudes out so that the destroy of the safety assembly is reduced greatly and thus the lifetime is prolonged.

To achieve above objects, the present invention provides an adjustable safety assembly of a nail driver which comprises a safety rod; an adjusting wheel; a resisting rod; a screw rod passing through the safety rod, adjusting wheel, and resisting rod sequentially; the screw rod being at a front end and the resisting rod being at a rear end; and a retaining seat having an open section; the adjusting wheel being position in the open section; and the screw rod passing through the retaining seat; When the adjusting wheel is rotated, the adjusting wheel moves in the open section of the retaining seat along a thread of the screw rod so as to drive the safety rod to achieve the effect of adjusting the position of the safety rod. The adjusting wheel is installed at a position far away from the beating opening so that the mistake in adjustment is reduced.

The various objects and advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood from the following detailed description when read in conjunction with the appended drawing.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In order that those skilled in the art can further understand the present invention, a description will be described in the following in details. However, these descriptions and the appended drawings are only used to cause those skilled in the art to understand the objects, features, and characteristics of the present invention, but not to be used to confine the scope and spirit of the present invention defined in the appended claims.

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, the safety assembly of a nail driver of the present invention is illustrated. The present invention has the following elements.

A retaining seat 20 is retained to a trigger 10 of a nail driver body 1. The retaining seat 20 has an approximate cylinder shape. A front end thereof is opened and a rear end thereof is closed. A rear end is formed with a receiving groove 21. An elastic unit 211 is received in the retaining seat 20. A middle section of the retaining seat 20 is formed as an open section 22.

An adjusting wheel 30 has a screw hole 31 at a center portion thereof for receiving a screw rod 40. A width of the opening section 22 of the retaining seat 20 is wider than an adjusting wheel 30 for receiving the adjusting wheel 30.

A screw rod 40 passes through the screw hole 31 of the adjusting wheel 30.

A safety rod 50 has a press portion 51 at a front end thereof. The press portion 51 is at a beating opening 11 of the nail driver body 1 for resisting a working wall. A rear end of the safety rod 50 has a through hole 52.

A resisting rod 60 has a positioning portion 61 at a front end thereof. The screw rod 40 passes through a via hole in the positioning portion 61. A ring 62 serves to position the screw rod 40 so that the resisting rod 60 is combined and interlinked with the screw rod 40. A rear end of the resisting rod 60 is curved as a resisting portion 63. When the resisting rod 60 reduces inwards, the resisting portion 63 serves to resist against an ejecting sheet 12 of the trigger 10.

In assembly, a front end of the screw rod 40 passes through the through hole 52 of the safety rod 50, the screw hole 31 of the adjusting wheel 30, and the via hole of the resisting rod 60. A elastic spring 63 sleeves an upper portion of the screw rod 40 and resists against an upper side of the through hole 52 of the safety rod 50 and the ring 61 is installed between a lower side of the screw rod 40 and the elastic unit 211. The elastic unit 211 is received in the receiving groove 21 of the retaining seat 20. The adjusting wheel 30 is received in the opening section 22 of the retaining seat 20.

Thereby when the press portion 51 at the front end of the safety rod 50 resists against a working piece and a force is applied thereon, the safety rod 50 will retract to drive the adjusting wheel 30 and the screw rod 40 so that the resisting rod 60 reduces inwards and the resisting portion 63 of the resisting rod 60 will resist against the ejecting sheet 12. When the trigger 10 is triggered, the ejecting sheet 12 will drive the trigger switch 13 so as to trigger a nail. When the pressure applied to the press portion 51 of the safety rod 50 is released, the resisting rod 60 is pushed by the elastic unit 211 in the retaining seat 20 to separate from the ejecting sheet of the trigger 10. The interaction of the safety rod 50 and the trigger 10 are known in the prior art and thus the details will not be further described herein.

Referring to FIGS. 2 to 5, the adjustment of the present invention will be described herein. When the adjusting wheel 30 is rotated, the adjusting wheel 30 will move forwards and backwards in the open section 22 of the retaining seat 20 along a thread of the screw rod 40. When the adjusting wheel 30 moves forwards, as shown in FIG. 2, the through hole 52 of the safety rod 50 will adhere to the adjusting wheel 30 to move forwards therewith. Thus, the safety rod 50 protrudes. In this state, if a front end of the safety rod 50 is pressed downwards and the trigger switch 13 is pressed, as shown in FIG. 4, the resisting portion 63 of the resisting rod 60 will buckle the ejecting sheet 12 so as to have the function of triggering.

If it is necessary to reduce the safety rod 50, the adjusting wheel 30 can be rotated to move backwards, as shown in FIG. 3, when the adjusting wheel 30 move backwards. The through hole 52 of the safety rod 50 is pushed by the elastic spring 53 so as to retract with the adjusting wheel 30. Then the press portion 51 at the front end of the safety rod 50 is retracted to a position behind that illustrated in FIG. 2. Thus, the safety rod 50 can be adjusted easily. In this state, if the front end of the safety rod 50 is pressed downwards and the trigger switch 13 is pressed, as shown in FIG. 5, the resisting portion 63 of the resisting rod 60 will buckle the ejecting sheet so as to have the function of triggering.

The present invention is thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the present invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
