Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a positioning device with an angle adjustable function, and more particularly, to a display device with a display monitor angle adjustable function.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Flat panel displays (FPDs) have been most widely utilized in display devices as a replacement for the cathode ray tube (CRT). This is true for several reasons, for example, due to features of excellent picture quality, lightweight, thin size, and low power consumption.

Please refer to FIG. 1. FIG. 1 illustrates a diagram of a conventional display device 10 at different display widths. The display device 10 includes a display monitor 12, and a display base 14 for supporting the display monitor 12. A user can move the display monitor 12 in a rotatable manner relative to the display base 14 to achieve a function of the display monitor 12 at different display widths. However, in the process of producing the display monitor 10, a assembling tolerance causes the display monitors 12 to be unable to achieve a uniform horizontal or vertical angle, hence this causes the display monitor 12 to have a slanted angle in either the horizontal mode or the vertical mode. In this way, the display monitor 12 cannot be properly viewed horizontally or vertically, and this greatly affects the quality of the display device 10.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Please refer to FIG. 2. FIG. 2 illustrates an external view diagram of a display device 30 according to the present invention. The display device 30 includes a display monitor 32, a support stand 34, and a positioning device 36. A top end of the support stand 34 is connected to an end of the positioning device 36, and another end of the positioning device 36 is connected to the display monitor 32. The support stand 34 is utilized for supporting the positioning device 36 and the display monitor 32, and a user can rotate the display monitor 32 relative to the support stand 34 by adjusting the positioning device 36 to achieve an objective of viewing the display monitor 32 in a horizontal or vertical manner.

Please refer to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4. FIG. 3 illustrates a diagram of a positioning device 36 when a display monitor 32 is being rotated to a horizontal mode. FIG. 4 illustrates a diagram of a positioning device 36 when a display monitor 32 is being rotated to a vertical mode. The positioning device 36 includes a fixing component 38 with an arc slot 40. The arc slot 40 includes a first slot point P1 and a second slot point P2, where the first slot point P1 is positioned at an end of the arc slot 40, and the second slot point P2 is positioned at another end of the arc slot 40; the positioning device 36 further includes a positioning plate 42 connected to the fixing component 38 in a rotatable manner relative to an axis O of the fixing component 38. For example, the positioning plate 42 can be pivoted to the fixing component on the axis O. The positioning plate 42 is utilized for carrying the display monitor 32; the positioning device 36 further includes a first adjusting component 44 installed on the positioning plate 42 in a slidable manner within the arc slot 40. A second adjusting component 46 installed on the positioning plate 42 in a slidable manner within the arc slot 40, where the first adjusting component 44 is installed beside the second adjusting component 46. When the display monitor 32 is rotated to the horizontal mode, the first adjusting component 44 positioned within the arc slot 40 is moved to a position near the first slot point P1, and when the display monitor 32 is rotated to the vertical mode, the second adjusting component 46 within the arc slot 40 is being moved to a position near the second slot point P2. The display device of the present invention can also be designed in such a way that when the display monitor 32 is rotated to the horizontal mode, the second adjusting component 46 positioned within the arc slot 40 is moved to a position near the second slot point P2. When the display monitor 32 is rotated to the vertical mode, the first adjusting component 44 positioned within the arc slot 40 is moved to a position near the first slot point P1, and so forth, thus this will not be reiterated herein for the sake of brevity.

Please refer to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6. FIG. 5 illustrates a cross-sectional diagram of a first adjusting component 44 positioned at a first location. FIG. 6 illustrates a cross-sectional diagram of a first adjusting component 44 positioned at a second location. The first adjusting component 44 can be a cone-shaped screw; the first adjusting component 44 includes a cone-shaped screw head 48 with a first radius section 50 and a second radius section 52, where a cross-sectional area of the first radius section 50 is greater than a cross-sectional area of the second radius section 52; the first adjusting component 44 further includes a fixed radius screw pillar 54 connected to the cone-shaped screw head 48. When the first adjusting component 44 is positioned at the first location, the first radius section 50 of the cone-shaped screw head 48 contacts with the first slot point P1, and when the first adjusting component 44 is positioned in the second location, the second radius section 52 of the cone-shaped screw head 48 contacts with the slot point P1. The user can screw (i.e., rotate or turn) a screw pillar 54 into the positioning plate 42 by rotating the cone-shaped screw head 48 of the first adjusting component 44 in order to switch the first adjusting component 44 from the second location to the first location.

Please refer to FIG. 3 and at the same time refer to FIG. 7. FIG. 7 illustrates a diagram of an adjustment of a display monitor 32 by switching the first adjusting component 44 from the second location of FIG. 6 to the first location of FIG. 5. When the first adjusting component 44 is screwed into the positioning plate 42 in a clockwise direction (e.g., from a rear view of the display monitor 32), the first adjusting component 44 will switch from the second location of FIG. 6 to the first location of FIG. 5. The first adjusting component 44 will exert a force towards the left of the fixing component 38, as the fixing component 38 is unable to relatively rotate at the axis O (the axis O is viewed as a fixed end). The axis O of the fixing component 38 will generate a corresponding anti-clockwise torque (e.g., as viewed from the rear of the display monitor 32), and drive the positioning plate 42 to rotate in an anti-clockwise direction relative to the axis O of the fixing component 38 (e.g., as viewed from the rear of the display monitor 32). From the direction of the user looking at the display monitor 32, the display monitor 32 can be rotate in the clockwise direction to perform the operation of adjusting the monitor angle. Relatively, when the display monitor 32 is rotated in the anti-clockwise direction to perform the operation of adjusting the monitor angle (e.g., as viewed from the front of the display monitor 32), the first adjusting component 44 is rotated out of the positioning plate 42 in the anti-clockwise direction (e.g., as viewed from the rear of the display monitor 32), therefore this will be not reiterated. If the first adjusting component 44 is positioned within the first location of FIG. 5, and at this time the display monitor 32 is being adjusted to a horizontal level, a glue material can be applied between the first adjusting component 44 and the positioning plate 42 so that the first adjusting component 44 is fixed to the positioning plate 42, hence the adjustment of horizontal angle of the display monitor 32 is completed.

Similarly, as illustrated in FIG. 4, when the display monitor 32 is rotated to the vertical mode, the second adjusting component 46 within the arc slot 40 is being moved to a position near the second slot point P2. Please refer to FIG. 8 and FIG. 9. FIG. 8 illustrates a cross-sectional diagram of the second adjusting component 46 positioned at a third location. FIG. 9 illustrates a cross-sectional diagram of the second adjusting component 46 positioned at a fourth location. The second adjusting component 46 can be a cone-shaped screw; the second adjusting component 46 includes a cone-shaped screw head 48 with a third radius section 58 and a fourth radius section 60, where a cross-sectional area of the third radius section 58 is greater than a cross-sectional area of the fourth radius section 60; the second adjusting component 46 further includes a fixed radius screw pillar 62 connected to the cone-shaped screw head 56. When the second adjusting component 46 is positioned at the third location, the third radius section 58 of the cone-shaped screw head 56 contacts with the second slot point P2, and when the second adjusting component 46 is positioned in the fourth location, the fourth radius section 60 of the cone-shaped screw head 56 contacts with the second slot point P2. The user can screw a screw pillar 62 into the positioning plate 42 by rotating the cone-shaped screw head 56 of the second adjusting component 46 in order to switch the second adjusting component 46 from the fourth location to the third location.

Please refer to FIG. 4 and at the same time refer to FIG. 10. FIG. 10 illustrates a diagram of an adjustment of a display monitor 32 by switching the second adjusting component 46 from the fourth location of FIG. 9 to the third location of FIG. 8. When the second adjusting component 46 is screwed into the positioning plate 42 in a clockwise direction (e.g., as viewed from the rear view of the display monitor 32), the second adjusting component 46 will switch from the fourth location of FIG. 9 to the third location of FIG. 8. The second adjusting component 46 will exert a force towards the right of the fixing component 38, as the fixing component 38 is unable to relatively rotate at the axis O (e.g., the axis O is viewed as a fixed end). The axis O of the fixing component 38 will generate a corresponding clockwise torque (e.g., as viewed from the rear of the display monitor 32), and drive the positioning plate 42 to rotate in an clockwise direction relative to the axis O of the fixing component 38 (e.g., as viewed from the rear of the display monitor 32). From the direction of the user looking at the display monitor 32, the display monitor 32 can be rotate in the anti-clockwise direction to perform the operation of adjusting the monitor angle. Relatively, when the display monitor 32 is rotated in the clockwise direction to perform the operation of adjusting the monitor angle (e.g., as viewed from the front of the display monitor 32), the second adjusting component 46 is rotated out of the positioning plate 42 in the anti-clockwise direction (e.g., as viewed from the rear of the display monitor 32), therefore this will be not reiterated. If the second adjusting component 46 is positioned within the third location of FIG. 8, and at this time the display monitor 32 is being adjusted to a vertical level, a glue material can be applied between the second adjusting component 46 and the positioning plate 42 such that the second adjusting component 46 is fixed to the positioning plate 42, hence the adjustment of vertical angle of the display monitor 32 is completed.

Furthermore, the first adjusting component 44 and the second adjusting component 46 of the present invention can be locked onto the positioning plate 42 by the rear side of the positioning plate 42 through the arc slot 40, the components can also be locked onto the positioning plate 42 by the front side of the positioning plate 42 (in another words against a side of the display monitor 32), where an end is installed within the arc slot 40. Please refer to FIG. 11 and FIG. 12. FIG. 11 illustrates a cross-sectional diagram of a third adjusting component 64 at a fifth location according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 12 illustrates a cross-sectional diagram of a third adjusting component 64 at a sixth location according to another embodiment of the present invention. The third adjusting component 64 includes a cone-shaped screw head 66 with a fifth radius section 68 and a sixth radius section 70, where a cross-sectional area of the fifth radius section 68 is greater than a cross-sectional area of the sixth radius section 70; the third adjusting component 64 further includes a fixed radius screw pillar 72 connected to the cone-shaped screw head 66. When the third adjusting component 64 is positioned at the fifth location, the fifth radius section 68 of the cone-shaped screw head 66 contacts with the first slot point P1, and when the third adjusting component 64 is positioned in the sixth location, the sixth radius section 70 of the cone-shaped screw head 66 contacts with the first slot point P1. The user can screw a screw pillar 72 into the positioning plate 42 by rotating the third adjusting component 64 in order to switch the third adjusting component 64 from the sixth location to the fifth location. Similarly, the first adjusting component 44 can be replaced by the third adjusting component 64, the second adjusting component 46 can also be replaced by the third adjusting component 64, and the principle of adjusting the display monitor 32 is similar to the above-mentioned embodiment, hence it will not be reiterated.

Furthermore, a fixing mechanism can be inserted between the fixing component 38 of the positioning device 36 for fixing the fixing component 38 and the positioning plate 42 when the first adjusting component 44 within the arc slot 40 is being moved to a location near the first slot point P1 or the second adjusting component 46 within the arc slot 40 is being moved to a location near the second slot point P2, then the first adjusting component 44 or the second adjusting component 46 is being rotated to achieve the objective of slightly adjusting the angle of the display monitor 32. Please refer to FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 13. FIG. 13 illustrates a diagram of a fixing component 38 fixed to a positioning plate 42. A first fixing mechanism 74 is installed on the fixing component 38, and a second fixing mechanism 76 is installed on the positioning plate 42 for fixing the first fixing mechanism 74 when the first adjusting component 44 within the arc slot 40 is being moved to a location near the first slot point P1 or the second adjusting component 46 within the arc slot 40 is being moved to a location near the second slot point P2. The first fixing mechanism 74 includes at least a concave point 78, and the second fixing mechanism 76 includes at least a convex point 80, for example the first fixing mechanism 74 can include four concave points at intervals of 90 degree, and the second fixing mechanism can include four convex points at intervals of 90 degree respectively installed at positions corresponding to the concave points. When the positioning plate 42 relative to the fixing component 38 is rotated to a predetermined position, the convex point 80 will join with its corresponding concave point 78 to achieve the initial positioning objective. Furthermore, in relative to the above-mentioned fixing mechanism, the first fixing mechanism 74 can be designed to include at least a convex point, and the second fixing mechanism to include at least a concave point, for example the first fixing mechanism 74 can include four convex points at intervals of 90 degree, and the second fixing mechanism 76 can include four concave points at intervals of 90 degree respectively installed at positions corresponding to the convex points to also achieve the initial positioning objective of joining the convex point with its corresponding concave point when the positioning plate 42 relative to the fixing component 38 is rotated to a predetermined position.

In comparison to the prior art, the display device of the present invention adjusts the depth of locking the cone-shaped screw into the positioning plate to achieve the objective of slightly adjusting the display monitor to maintain the perfect horizontal or vertical angle. Thus the present invention can overcome the assembling tolerance during the process of production that causes the display monitors unable to have a uniform horizontal or vertical angle, which presents a problem of cost due to the increasing demand on the precision molding.

Those skilled in the art will readily observe that numerous modifications and alterations of the device and method may be made while retaining the teachings of the invention. Accordingly, the above disclosure should be construed as limited only by the metes and bounds of the appended claims.
