Dragon grill

A combination gas grill, charcoal grill, and smoker having multiple cooking areas and multiple heat sources, where heat and/or smoke flow upwards and exits through a vent system. The covered grill area may act as a gas grill by sliding the gas burner tube drawer to the position directly under the grill area. Alternatively the covered grill area may act as a charcoal grill by sliding the gas burner tube drawer to the position away from the frill area, and placing coals on grates directly beneath the grill area. Alternatively the entire center area may be used as a smoker by sliding the gas burner tube drawer to the position away from the grill area and placing coals in the fire box.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Field of the Invention

This invention relates to the field of cooking devices; more particularly, to a combination gas grill, charcoal grill and smoker device having a sliding draw configuration for changing heat sources.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

As required, detailed embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention that may be embodied in various and alternative forms. The figures are not necessarily to scale, some features may be exaggerated or minimized to show details of particular components. Therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to variously employ the present invention.

FIGS. 1-3 shows a combination gas grill, charcoal grill and smoker device 5 consisting of a fire box area 9 mounted on the bottom left with a pass through hole to allow heat to move to and through the rack enclosure 21 to the covered grill area, and out the vent 1. Alternatively the sliding gas burner drawer 17 can be moved to a position under the cover assembly 25 to allow the gas heat source to be ignited directly under the grill 18. Additionally there is an ash catch drawer 22, located at the base of rack enclosure 21, which collects ashes and grease which fall from the rack area 21, and the grill 18, a gas cylinder enclosure 23, which holds a standard LP gas cylinder 12, and two table platforms 6, for placing objects during use. The combination gas grill, charcoal grill and smoker device 5 is preferably made of steel, ceramic, copper or other heat resistant materials.

The cover assembly 25 consists of three formed plates of then steel welded together and hinged to the rack area 21, allowing the cover assembly 25 to swing as a unit upwards allowing access to the grill 18. Additionally the cover assembly 25 contains the vent 1 which is a steel sheet formed into a cylinder and welded to an opening at the top of the cover assembly 25, a standard grill thermostat 3, to give a visual indication of the temperature of the air within, and a handle 4, which is made of a material that is a poor conductor of heat such as wood.

The rack area 21 consists of a thin walled steel enclosure with steel doors 13 and handle 4 assembly which allow access to the rack area 21, the grill 18 and racks 19 set on steel brackets 26 to allow easy removal and installation.

The fire box 20 consists of a heavy gauge steel barrel with a hinged lid also made of heavy gauge steel; a rack 19 mounted on steel brackets 26 which hold a heat source such as lighted coals, an adjustable circular vent 20 for regulating the amount of air allowed into the fire box. The entire fire box 20 will be placed in a steel enclosure of thin walled steel with doors 13 with handles 4 to visual screen the fire box 20.

The gas cylinder enclosure 23 consists of an open top steel enclosure with thin walled steel doors 13 with handles 4 to visual screen the standard LP gas cylinder 12. Additionally this area will contain the gas hose and regulator assembly 15 which is attached to the gas burner drawer assembly 17.

The gas burner drawer assembly 17 consists of medium gauged steel open top enclosure with a handle 4 made of a heat resistant material such as wood. The gas burner drawer 17 slides along two steel rods 14 which are welded to rack area 21 on each side. The gas burner drawer assembly 17 consists of a gas burner 16 made of stainless steel and formed into a U shape and perforated with small holes allowing for gas release rate to be controlled, a heat deflector 19 made of steel bent at ninety degrees and mounted on steel brackets 26 which allow for easy removal. Additionally two table platforms 6 provide a place to set objects used in conjunction with grilling and/or smoking during use as well as provide a visual screen for the gas burner drawer assembly 17.

Claims

1. A combination gas grill, charcoal grill, and smoker comprising: a cover, a grill, rectangular area, a set of doors incorporated into said front rectangular area, a connected barrel shaped fire box with hinged upward swinging door and variable grate, a gas burner tube drawing containing the gas burner and associated connecting hoses, rectangular area for storing and connecting a gas cylinder and associated regulator and plumbing, a drawer to catch grease and ashes, wheels and legs attached at the base, and a vent to allow a controlled amount of heat to exit said cover.
