INSTA-NET

Abstract

Insta-Net is a device designed to provide a quick and easy method of installing or replacing the netting on a basketball rim. Rather than the lengthy and arduous process of stringing, or unstringing a basketball net through the loops provided on a typical rim, the Insta-Net is a removable device with a net already attached to it, and installation simple involves dropping the device onto/inside the rim itself. Installation/removal can be done in a matter of seconds by simply snapping the device on or off the rim.

BACKGROUND

The invention is a simplified method of putting up or taking down a basketball net. Typically, net installation involves weaving the twelve loops of the basketball net through the hooks provided at the bottom of the rim. This procedure is meticulous and can take several minutes, and can often be very frustrating.

Under certain conditions, it is desirable to be able to put up or take down nets quickly and easily on a goal at one's residence, or on a playground court. Consequently, when cloth nets get worn and undesirable to play on, they can be replaced easily in a way that requires significantly less time and effort. Insta-Net provides that easy method-no strings to attach. Also, when encountering a playground where there are no nets,Insta-Net provides an opportunity to quickly put up nets, and then take them down when play is done.

This device is recommended only for recreational play, not official league play, as the clips that sit on the rim has the potential of interfering with a basketball shot that happens to roll around on the rim.

Claims

1. What I claim as my invention is a device for attaching a basketball net to a rim, being a circular plastic ring, with attachment clips rising upward from the base and curling outward to fit over a basketball rim. Said circular base has 12 (twelve) small holes in it, and in each of the 12 holes there is a small metal ring provided for the purpose of securing a cloth basketball net. This circular ring, clips, small metal rings and an attached net comprises my device, called “Insta-Net. Its main function is to facilitate a quick and easy method of attaching or removing a basketball net to or from a basketball rim.
