Hang it E - Z

The “Hang It E-Z” is the physical expression of a mental idea to make it almost foolproof for the average person to locate a correct nail location to hang a picture. A person may measure the location of the hanging wire of a picture with the “Hang It E-Z” and move it to any location on the wall. When the desired location is found, a simple tap of the pointer locates the nail location.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The “Hang It E-Z” is a plastic device for a person to accurately locate the position for a nail or hook to hang a picture or wall hanging, on a wall or vertical surface.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The most difficult part of hanging pictures or wall hangings is to find the exact location for the nail or hook so that the picture is at the desired location on the wall. The “Hang It E-Z” makes this possible by measuring directly from the picture, the distance from the top of the picture down to the wire which supports the picture. With that distance set on the “Hang It E-Z”, the “Hang It E-Z” is now moved to the desired picture location and held vertical on the wall, a small tap on the pointer end put a small dent in the wall at the location for the nail. No more repeated holes in the wall finding the right location. The scale in inches makes it possible to set the location for repeated use.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

There are three pages of drawings. Page 1 of 3 shows the front and rear views. There are three detail views “A” and “B” which shows details of the pointer/slider bar. There is a detail “C” showing the detail of the handel and pointer/slider bar. At the top of the page are Four views, showing the rear view and the front view showing the adj. pointer/sliding bar with the inch scale imprinted in the finish. The left and right views show the locations of the pointer/sliding bar in other positions.

Page 3 of 3 shows two isometric views. One view shows the “Hang It E-Z” on the back of the picture where it is set to the correct distance from top of picture frame down to the wire hanger. The other view shows the “Hang It E-Z” at the desired wall location, set vertical and ready for the pointer to be taped lightly to make a small dent in the wall finish. This dent is the location for the nail or hook in the wall.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The “Hang It E-Z” is 2 inches wide and a 14 inch main body made of hard plastic with a sliding bar scale and pointer that make it almost foolproof to locate the nail location to hang a picture at a desired location on a wall. The adjustable pointer/slider bar may be inverted in the slide groove and therefore set for smaller hanger distances. Please refer to Drawings No. 2 of 3 and 3 of 3 for details and dimensions.

Use Procedure

The picture to be hung is laid face down on a flat surface so that you may see the top of the frame and the wire hanger. Next pick up the “Hang It E-Z” and set the top flush with the frame top and slide the adj. pointer/slider bar so the pointer is at the center of the hanging wire and the wire is taunt. Next move the “Hang It E-Z” to the location on the wall where the desired top of the picture frame is, set the top of the “Hang It E-Z” at the top of frame, set “Hang It E-Z” vertical and give the pointer bar a light tap to dent the wall. Next install the nail in the wall and hang the picture. JOB DONE!!!!
