Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a stick for trekking, mountain climbing and sports activities in general.

As is known, a person engaged in a sports activity in which sticks or rods are used, frequently requires to use measurement instruments or tools, of a lot of different types, which would be very useful for practicing the involved sports activity.

At present, the person engaged in his/her sports activity, is practically compelled to modify his/her attitude, for taking the measurement instrument and, accordingly, must either transfer the stick from a hand to the other, or hold said stick in an inconvenient position, thereby the latter cannot be easily used.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to solve the above mentioned problem, by providing a stick for trekking, mountain climbing and sports activities in general, allowing a person practicing the sports activities, to easily use measurement instruments, for measuring quantities related to the sports activity being performed.

Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the invention is to provide such a stick which is very practical and functional, and which, moreover, is adapted to meet a lot of requirements, as involved in sports activities.

Another object of the invention is to provide such a stick for sports activities which, owing to its specifically designed construction, is very reliable and safe in operation.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a stick for trekking, mountain climbing and sports activity in general which can be easily made and which, moreover is very competitive from a mere economic standpoint.

According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a stick for trekking, mountain climbing and sports activities in general, comprising a rod element coupled to a handle, characterized in that said stick further comprises, on said handle, a display operatively coupled to and controlled by a measurement instrument for measuring quantities of different types and nature.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Further characteristics and advantages of the stick according to the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred, though not exclusive, embodiment thereof, which is illustrated, by way of an example, in the accompanying drawings, where:

FIG. 1 is a top plan view schematically showing the subject trekking stick including a measurement instrument;

FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view of the stick, substantially taken along a vertical plane;

FIG. 3 shows the stick according to the present invention including a mirror;

FIG. 4 shows a cross-sectioned view substantially taken along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3; and

FIG. 5 shows a modified embodiment of the display included in the stick according to the invention.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the stick for trekking, mountain climbing and sports activity in general, which has been generally indicated by the reference number 1, comprises a rod element 2, having any desired configuration, to which a top handle 3 is connected.

The main feature of the invention is that, at the top portion of the handle, is arranged a display 10 which is operatively associated with a quantity measurement instrument, for measuring quantities of different types and nature.

As schematically shown in the drawings, the display 10 comprises a display region 11 for indicating hours and minutes, and, optionally, the date, and a chronometer.

Said display 10 further comprises a region 12 for indicating the temperature, and indicating marks 14 arranged in a closed loop and which operate as a compass are provided.

Moreover, it is further possible to provide an altitude measurement element 17, a barometer element, an optional hygrometer, indicated by the reference number 18, an atmospheric measurement and detecting element 19, as well as a pace measurement device.

Advantageously, the display can be housed in the right handle of the stick, whereas the left handle may comprise a top mirror 20, arranged on a small door 21 covering an article storing cavity.

Moreover, it is possible to include in the display a plurality of further functional elements, such as a skipass, optionally in association with gps system, footpath maps, a cardiofrequency measurement element, a MP3 radio apparatus, and, optionally, a camera.

FIG. 1 shows a plurality of control and adjustment push-buttons, for controlling the instruments 30 and 31, which are arranged at any desired positions.

It should be also apparent that it is also be possible to add any other type of measurement and display elements, which can be easily built-in in the display envelope or casing.

In particular, said measurement and display elements may be differently combined with one another and arranged, in any desired number on said handle.

From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.

In fact, the invention provides a stick, in particular a ski stick or rod, in which are directly built-in a lot of measurement instruments, as required by a person involved in a sports activity, such as trekking, mountain climbing and so on, by allowing the measurement instrument to be easily accessed and used by the user, who is not compelled to remove his/her hands from the handle to read-out the measurement instrument

The invention, as disclosed, is susceptible to several modifications and variations, all coming within the scope of the invention.

Moreover, all the constructional details can be replaced by other technically equivalent element.

In practicing the invention, the used materials, as well as the contingent size and shapes, can be any, depending on requirements.
