Abstract

A contoured pillow for use by a person that applies a facial cream. The pillow consists of a first major section and a second major section, the second section having a width less than that of the first surface, which supports the user's neck and head such that the user's face will hang over the edge and not touch the pillow.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is directed toward a pillow that allows the user to sleep on his or her side while avoiding facial contact with the pillow, so as to prevent wrinkles and the removal of creams.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Wrinkle creams that women use frequently can cost up to $1000 for a 20 ounce can. To be effective, such creams must remain on the skin of its user. Facial expressions, such as smiling, laughing, and frowning make the eyes wrinkle as a reflex causing laugh lines to contract. This is unavoidable for a woman while she is awake.

Therefore, the best time to apply these creams is at night. When women sleep and lay on ordinary pillows, they not only remove the moisturizer they have put on as a result of laying their cheek on a pillow and rubbing it off, but they also push the nasobila folds (laugh lines) together and pull at the lines around their eyes. This action, which occurs when women sleep, has and will continue to push the deepened lines on a woman's face.

There are a number of devices related to the industry involving memory foam and pillows. For example, U.S. Patent Application No. 20030188385 to Rathbun discloses a pillow having a first body portion and a continuous second body portion that extends from the first body portion. The first body portion includes a top edge and a bottom edge connected by a first side edge and a second side edge. The second body portion extends continuously from the top edge to the bottom edge, and continuously between the first and second side edges. The first body portion is substantially rectangular-shaped. The second body portion defines at least one recess, wherein the recess is bordered by a continuous sidewall formed by the second body portion. The recess sidewall extends arcuately from at least one of the first side edge and the second side edge. The pillow also includes an axis of symmetry that extends from the top edge to the pillow bottom edge.

U.S. Patent Application No. 20020184707 to Stevens discloses a support pad having a main body section with a front fabric panel and a rear fabric panel between which is disposed a quantity of a soft fluffy material. A central flap and two lateral or side flaps are attached to the main body section along one side thereof, the side flaps being disposed on opposite sides of the central flap. One of the side flaps is spaced from the central flap by a distance which is substantially larger than a spacing between the central flap and another of the side flaps, the distance being sufficiently great to define a cutout or gap for receiving an ancillary pad or pillow support.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,996,734 to Rowe discloses an improved pillow having a head supporting portion and a neck supporting portion. The neck supporting portion has a firmness greater than the head supporting portion. The neck supporting portion is of lesser transverse dimension than the head supporting portion to allow freedom from interference of the pillow with the sleeper's jaw and mouth. In an alternate version, the pillow includes two reversible neck supporting portions of different firmness.

U.S. Pat. No. 7,013,512 to Hsu discloses a combination pressure release ergonomic pillow comprised of a body of the pillow having its top surface in a curve complying with ergonomic requirements of the human head and neck, a channel on one side or multiple channels on both sides, a slot at bottom of the body of the pillow, insert(s) to be inserted into the channel(s); a support inserted into the slot to support the back of head of the user; the insert being retractable to adjust the height of the pillow body to define optimal pressure release curve according to the individual user to protect the cervical vertebrae of the user.

U.S. Design Pat. No. D474,364 to Arcieri discloses an ornamental design for an anti-wrinkle pillow.

U.S. Design Pat. No. D434,936 to May discloses an ornamental design for a face pillow.

While there have been a number of systems directed to the use of pillows, there has not been a system directed to a novel design for a pillow which will not cause the face of the user to come into contact with the pillow.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a pillow that will not interfere or touch a user's face.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide a pillow which does not interfere with a user's face while sleeping. These and other object of the invention will become apparent.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In a first embodiment, the present invention is a contoured pillow for use by a person when using a facial cream. The pillow would have a first major section and a second major section, the second section would have a width less than that of the first surface which supports the user's neck and head such that the user's face will hang over the edge and not touch the pillow.

In a further embodiment, the present invention is a contoured pillow for use by a person when using a facial cream wherein the pillow is constructed of a memory foam that consists of a first major section and a second major section, the second section would have a width less than that of the first surface, the said second section would support the user's neck and head such that the user's face will hang over the edge and not touch the pillow.

In yet a further embodiment, the present invention is a contoured pillow for use by a person when using a facial cream, wherein the pillow is constructed of a memory foam that has a first major section and a second major section that is joined by two curved intersections. The second section has a width less than that of the first surface, so as to support the user's neck and head and provide an opening, such that the user's face will hang and not touch the pillow.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

The present invention is described with reference to the enclosed Figures, wherein the same numbers are used where applicable. The present invention is directed toward a novel pillow which prevents women from touching their faces to a pillow while they sleep, thus preserving the removal of applied creams and preventing further the creation of facial lines.

In a preferred embodiment, the pillow is the same size as a standard pillow and provides a comfortable sleeping position for the head. The narrow section provides room for the head to move side to side or for the user to sleep on his or her back.

The pillow 10 is defined by two major surfaces 12, 14. The first surface 12 comprises the rear of the pillow 10 and the second 14 comprises the front of the pillow 10. In a most preferred embodiment, the second major section 14 is narrow. The intersections 16a, 16b between the first and second major sections are curved. The second major section 14 is placed close to the head and neck of the user. The first major section 12 is as wide as a standard pillow. The curved intersections 16a, 16b between the first 12 and second 14 sections define an opening 19 where the user's face does not touch the pillow 10.

The pillow 10 is preferably constructed of memory foam so it will not loose its shape during use. The narrow second surface 14 and curved sides 16a, 16b never let the face touch anything but air. The pillow 10 thus leaves the face untouched while the user is sleeping allowing aging wrinkles to relax and the expensive moisturizer to stay where the user applied it.

Claims

1. A contoured pillow for use by a person when using a facial cream comprising:

a pillow having a first major section and a second major section;

the second section having a width less than that of the first surface and which supports the user's neck and head such that the user's face will hang over the edge and not touch the pillow.

2. A contoured pillow for use by a person when using a facial cream comprising:

a pillow constructed of memory foam having a first major section and a second major section;

the second section having a width less than that of the first surface, said second section supporting the user's neck and head such that the user's face will hang over the edge and not touch the pillow.

3. A contoured pillow for use by a person when using a facial cream comprising:

a pillow constructed of a memory foam having a first major section and second major section joined by two curved intersections;

the second section having a width less than that of the first surface so as to support the user's neck and head and providing an opening such that the user's face will hang and not touch the pillow.
